We're a small team passionate about working with politicians and decision-makers from all sides of politics. Our goal is to spread the word about Scouts and support policies that help our movement, including our young members and volunteers.
We believe it's crucial to involve young people in what we do. That's why we empower them to speak up about the things that matter to them, ensuring our work truly reflects what our members need and want. Right now, we have a team of 10 youth advocates who joined us last year, and we're excited to add 5 more roles.
We're also recruiting a volunteer team to make our team more diverse and bring in fresh ideas. This mix of voices and experiences makes our work even better, reaching more people and making a bigger impact. And as our team grows, we're dedicated to giving everyone the support, guidance, and chances to learn and grow.
As part of this team, you'll get to talk directly to senior leaders in government and run campaigns that change things for the better. You'll go to events like Party Conferences and meet other people who care about Scouts. Plus, you'll learn loads of skills like public speaking, campaign development, and working with others to make big things happen.

Our Mentoring Volunteers provide support and are role models to the young people we work with, and must be responsible, reliable and committed to the mentoring relationship. You will need to be good at communicating, enthusiastic and have a desire to help LGBTQ+ young people.
Previous experience of working with young people would be beneficial but is not essential. No formal qualifications are required. About this key role
As our Children, Young People and Families Volunteer Mentor, you will focus on supporting Caseworkers delivering mentoring and specialist support for children, young people and their families, with the children on the edge of entering the care system and young people at risk of violence. We will count on you to develop and maintain effective relationships with Local Authority teams and other relevant agencies, ensuring a steady flow of referrals to the project, while also working collaboratively with other professionals such as Social Care teams, professionally representing St Giles.
You will support the completion of initial needs assessments with clients, helping them to develop individual action plans and regularly review them to assess progress, carry out and review thorough risk management plans, plus provide a client-led support service that responds to individual needs, including support with housing, finances, parenting, health, ETE and criminal justice.

- To have lived, personal experience of the Care System, Criminal Justice System, and/or being involved in a gang or knife crime.
- Knowledge of anti-discriminatory working practices, and the implications of both within the working environment.

What’s Involved?
As a Doorstep Library reading volunteer, you’ll visit the same families via Zoom every week with eBooks to share with the children and encourage their love of reading.

We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Volunteer Archivist to join our team. As a Volunteer Archivist, you will play a crucial role in preserving, organising and maintaining our archives, encompassing both digital and physical assets.
Our archive and library are permanently housed at our London Office. This role would suit someone working towards an archive or record management qualification, with an interest in social and cultural archives and history.
Main Duties
- To assist in maintaining a comprehensive archive and library encompassing both digital and physical assets representing the rich history CPAG.
- Collaborating closely with the Office Manager and CEO, your role will involve developing an efficient and user-friendly framework for the ongoing management and preservation of the archive.
- Listing, describing and boxing records.
- To develop a basic ‘collections policy’ outlining future collecting and simple archiving procedures for organisational maintenance.
- To use your knowledge of archiving processes to support staff with cataloguing archive contents.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
- This includes applying archival principles and standards, enhancing the archives research and historical value.
Commitment
The role requires a minimum commitment of at least 3 months, 7-10 hours per week during our working hours (Monday-Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm).

Trustees play a crucial and key role in the setting up of Youth Mix, the strategic direction and steering of our new youth charity, ensuring we are a fantastic youth-led organisation for young people aged 16 to 26 years old. This is an exciting time for the Charity as we roll out our mentoring programme.
