As an Employment Adviser, you will sit within the Employment & Careers team, supporting the direct delivery of our employment service by recruiting beneficiaries through outreach and supporting them to secure or progress in employment.

You will have at least 1 year of experience working in a similar post supporting disadvantaged groups back to work and/or training and education. You will also be responsible for conducting caseload reviews weekly/monthly and maintaining up to date beneficiary records on our internal systems.

Background:
First Step Trust (FST) is a charity that provides work experience, training and employment opportunities for people excluded from working life because of mental health problems or other disadvantages (workforce members).
Our approach is about giving workforce members the chance to overcome some of the difficulties facing them by getting them involved as colleagues. We provide ‘on the job’ training, advice and support to enable each person to improve their basic skills and knowledge of the various work undertaken. Job Role:
The main objective of this post is to enable people with mental health difficulties and other disadvantages (workforce members) to engage with and access open employment. The EDTW will achieve this by taking responsibility for proactively recruiting people to the project, overseeing their development whilst at the project, including delivery of training courses as and when required and supporting them to move on to employment or further training.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team as a Dementia Adviser. You will have the rewarding experience of providing information, guidance and support to people affected by dementia in Bridgend. This new post will work as part of the Integrated Community Network teams in Bridgend. The Network Teams consist of staff across several professions. This includes social work, district nursing, community psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics and pharmacy. It aims to provide a seamless and holistic approach to an individual’s care or support needs during times of change or challenge.
As a Dementia Adviser, you will:
- Work closely with health, adult social care and third sector colleagues in assessing need and providing information and guidance to support people affected by dementia.
- Help meet the health and wellbeing needs of an individual by looking at “what matters” to them by providing timely and accurate information, advice, and assistance so that they may benefit from what is available to them.
- Work within the Integrated Community Network Teams in supporting the provision of support to people with dementia and their carers and wider support networks.

The cost-of-living crisis is biting hard for many people in Sefton and demand for our advice services is rising, and people seeking training or work or with poor health need encouragement to ask for help in navigating the benefits system, or deal with money worries. We are looking for an adviser to work in South Sefton Foodbanks to provide face to face advice, primarily with benefit issues. You will work from foodbanks the majority of the time and also have weekly day/s based with our Welfare Benefits team in our Bootle office.
This is a genuine opportunity to join a passionate and dedicated high-performing team of advisers, caseworkers and money advisors to help people in Sefton with the problems they face, particularly with Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, better off calculations and other welfare benefits and debt. 92% of our clients agree or strongly agree they would recommend our advice service to other people.
You will have a thorough understanding of the issues involved in interviewing and working with clients, and in particular vulnerable people, with excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and our partners.

As a Adviser (Housing and Welfare Benefits) you will be responsible for providing specialist support to older people, their families and carers through our advice service with their enquiries relating to housing and welfare benefits as well as providing generalist level support on a range of issues through our duty service.
You should you should have in depth, specialist level knowledge of Housing or Welfare Benefits (ideally both) as they relate to older people, experience of working within an high volume advice setting and advice supervision framework such as the AQS framework.
