We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Domestic Abuse Service Manager to lead and develop our specialist services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

This is much more than an operational management role. You will lead a committed team delivering support through safe accommodation, community and outreach services, helping ensure adults and children affected by domestic abuse receive safe, high-quality and empowering support when they need it most.

Reporting to the CEO, you will provide confident leadership across our domestic abuse services, managing a diverse team of practitioners, outreach workers, project staff, volunteers and others.

You’ll build strong relationships with police, housing, health, children’s services, courts, commissioners and voluntary sector partners, ensuring the voice, rights and safety of victim-survivors remain central.

As our Designated Safeguarding Lead, you’ll play a key role in developing a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation, ensuring concerns are managed effectively and learning leads to meaningful improvement.

You’ll also use data, outcomes and feedback to understand what is working, identify emerging needs and drive service development.

You will:

• Lead, support and develop a dedicated domestic abuse team.

About you

You’ll have experience of managing people and services, together with a strong understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on adults and children. Experience within domestic abuse, safeguarding, housing, social care, family support or a similar specialist service would be highly relevant.

You’ll combine strong leadership with genuine compassion. You’ll be confident managing risk and complex situations, able to challenge poor practice when necessary, and committed to developing others.

These Family IDVA positions are permanent and full-time roles (37.5 hours per week). About the role

We are looking for passionate and dedicated Family Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) to join Birmingham's new Family IDVA Service. With multiple roles available, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative city-wide service from the very beginning, helping to improve outcomes for parents and their children who have experienced domestic abuse.

Each Family IDVA will be based within one of Birmingham's 10 Family Hubs, working as part of a multi-agency network to provide specialist domestic abuse support where families need it most. Combining core IDVA expertise with a strong whole-family and child-centred approach, you will work directly with parents aged 16+ and their children under 18, helping them to increase safety, reduce risk and begin their recovery journey.

As a Family IDVA, you will provide a flexible range of interventions tailored to the needs of each family. This may include risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, practical and emotional support, support through criminal and civil justice processes, recovery-focused interventions, and helping families access wider services and opportunities. You will manage a varied caseload and work closely with partner agencies to ensure families receive the right support at the earliest opportunity, preventing escalation and reducing harm.

Alongside direct support, you will play an important role in strengthening the wider response to domestic abuse across Birmingham. You will deliver targeted training and awareness sessions to professionals within Early Help, education, health and community settings, helping to build confidence in identifying and responding to domestic abuse and ensuring families can access support sooner.

Psychosocial Workshops and Recovery Team: You will line manage a team of Key Workers who run our group programmes across the County, and our Volunteer and Peer Mentor Co-ordinator.

Here4YOUth Team:  You will line manage a team of Key Workers who hold a caseload of young people and families, including delivery of the MPACT programme.

Amongst other duties you will support individuals’ development, support personnel matters, listen, respond, and care about staff and the wellbeing of those who use our service. Oversee performance and manage the operational flow of your team, maintain high standards of practice, and support your team to achieve wider service targets.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years effective leadership and/or supervisory experience. You will need to demonstrate effective communication and organisational skills and have the ability to manage change whilst working to deadlines.

You will need to be confident working with external agencies and deliver learning sessions to your team and other agencies where required. You will need a keen eye for detail as part of your role will be to review incidents, ensure compliance with clinical audits and create plans to respond to recommendations. You will also be required to form part of the duty management rota for the service.

This role sits within Women and Girls Network’s Intake Service and provides high-quality, trauma-informed and survivor-led support to women and girls affected by Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

About this job

This part-time, fixed-term role (21 hours per week) will coordinate our Breathing Space project in Wales until March 2029. The project enables unpaid carers supporting people with MS and other neurological conditions to take short breaks.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Project Coordinator who enjoys delivering fixed-term funded projects, working directly with the people we support and our volunteers. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to achieve project objectives are essential.

You will work closely with unpaid carers, people affected by MS and other neurological conditions, key external partners, the Service and Support Team, the Director for Wales and teams across the MS Society. Focused on outcomes and tangible results, you will build strong stakeholder partnerships and represent the MS Society at meetings and events promoting the project to unpaid carers.

The role can be based anywhere in Wales, but regular travel across Wales is expected.

Young People Support Worker

We are seeking a resilient and compassionate Support Worker to help young people overcome homelessness and move towards brighter, independent futures.

About the role

No two days will be the same in this rewarding role. As a Young People Support Worker, you will help young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability to build their confidence, develop practical skills and achieve greater independence.

You will manage a caseload of young people who need homelessness prevention or pre-tenancy support, developing personalised plans that help them secure accommodation and improve their wellbeing. By building trusting relationships and taking a creative approach to engagement, you will help each young person identify their strengths, overcome barriers and work towards their goals.

Your key responsibilities will include:

· Managing a caseload and delivering tailored, outcome-focused support

· Completing risk assessments and developing effective support plans

· Providing homelessness prevention and pre-tenancy support

· Delivering drop-in and planned sessions at the community hub and other local venues

Ataxia UK Research Manager

This is a part-time 12 month fixed term maternity cover post 

Salary: £44,000 pa pro-rata

About Ataxia UK 

Ataxia is the umbrella term for a group of neurological conditions and Ataxia UK is the UK’s leading ataxia support and research charity. Ataxia UK collaborates with the global ataxia community through our Research team,  and we are on the board of the international non-profit association, Euro-ataxia. Our Services team focuses on helping people affected by ataxia across the UK live well with their condition. Our Helpline and Advocacy services provide information, and one-to-one support on a range of issues, while our Community Engagement services deliver activities, events and volunteering opportunities that bring the ataxia community together and help reduce isolation. 

Job Description 

Research:  

The post-holder is expected to gain an understanding of the ataxias, keep updated with developments in the ataxia research area, and liaise effectively with researchers and other stakeholders. 

Research Grants Programme:

• To support the Director of Research in implementing Ataxia UK’s research strategy 

• To manage the Research Communications Officer in implementing the peer review process (e.g. by identifying/ liaising with peer reviewers and keeping a database of potential peer reviewers) 

• To support the Scientific Advisory Committee by attending meetings, and manage the Research Communications Officer providing papers and writing minutes 

• To liaise with researchers funded by Ataxia UK

Global collaborations: 

• To represent Ataxia UK or stand in for the Director of Research on research projects (eg: representing the patient perspective) 

• To manage the meetings of the Pharma Strategy Advisory Group 

• To support the Director of Research in working with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to advance ataxia research 

• To assist the Director of Research in other research related-initiatives where required 

Research communication: 

• To manage the Research Communications officer in communications to people affected by ataxia (via Ataxia UK’s magazine, e-newsletter and website)

Improving healthcare:

• To coordinate annual reviews of current Ataxia Centres, and accreditation reviews of new Ataxia Centres 

• To coordinate the Ataxia Grand Rounds programme 

• To manage the updating of Ataxia UK’s Medical Guidelines and similar publications 

• To support the Director of Research in the development of new projects and policy work aimed at improving the healthcare of people with ataxia as required

Other: 

• Participate in supervision, and staff meetings as required

We are entering an exciting phase of growth and are looking to expand our services and extend our reach across Birmingham, the Black Country and surrounding areas. This new role is central to these plans.

Initially, the role will be hands-on, with responsibility for recruiting and training additional administrative staff, fully opening our main premises and moving to a hybrid model of online and face-to-face counselling.
