Your mission

We’re a suicide prevention charity fighting to reduce the devastating impact of suicide in the UK. We run a life-saving helpline for anyone affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts, and provide mental health tools and resources for anyone struggling. 

We also run vital campaigns to increase awareness, smash stereotypes, and change the culture around mental health and suicide.

Our supporters are a huge part of CALM. Whether they’re running a marathon, shouting about our services, or featuring in an awareness campaign, they make what we do possible. And that’s why we need an experienced Storytelling Manager, so we can share their stories and get more people than ever united against suicide. 

We’re looking for an experienced Storytelling Manager to champion our supporters and service users across the org by recruiting, telling and managing their stories.

Your profile

Essential

• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to proactively manage multiple storytelling projects concurrently.

• Excellent written and verbal communication:

  • Strong attention to detail and communications skills

  • Experience of writing engaging copy in line with a brand tone of voice

  • Experience of communicating sensitive and complex information to a range of audiences

  • Ability to adapt stories to a range of audiences and channels 

• A solid understanding of storytelling practice, including trauma-informed interviewing techniques and adherence to ethical guidelines

• 4+ years experience interviewing and producing case study stories in a charity or media organisation

• A collaborative team player who can work across a range of teams to understand project needs and support on finding solutions. 

Desirable

• An understanding of the charity, mental health or suicide prevention sector and the key issues for communication with stakeholders, supporters and the broader public.

The Public Fundraising Manager will lead the individual giving, in-memory, legacies, challenge events and community fundraising activities, building on strong foundations that are already in place across these areas. The Manager will be responsible for around £400,000 of income per year, largely across challenge events, community fundraising, and individual giving. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, the postholder will have experience in at least one or more of the key public fundraising areas: individual giving, challenge events, community fundraising, legacy and in memory fundraising. You will be an exceptional relationship builder with strong emotional intelligence and influencing skills, providing a creative and ambitious approach to fundraising with evidence of public speaking and crafting compelling proposals and impact stories.

• Proven experience managing key relationships—minimum three years within a charity environment—with a track record of stewarding and growing six‑figure partnerships.

• Demonstrable ability to manage multiple complex projects, with strong organisational, financial management and commercial awareness (including understanding of VAT considerations).

OB TITLE: HR Manager (Part-Time)

Purpose

The HR Manager will provide professional, approachable and reliable HR support across the organisation. Working closely with the Head of People & Organisational Development, the role will help ensure that people are well supported, policies are applied consistently, and HR practice reflects both employment law and our Christian values. This is a hands-on, part-time role suited to an HR professional who enjoys building relationships and providing practical support to managers and staff.

Key Responsibilities

> Day-to-Day HR Support

> Act as a first point of contact for HR queries from managers and staff, offering clear and timely advice

> Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and induction processes

> Maintain accurate, confidential HR records in line with GDPR requirements Employee Relations

> Support managers with employee relations matters, including absence management, performance concerns, disciplinary and grievance processes

> Prepare HR documentation and support meetings as required

> Work with the Head of People & Organisational Development on more complex cases Policies & Good Practice

> Support the implementation and review of HR policies and procedures

ABOUT YOU

Essential

> CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards)

> At least 2 years’ experience in a generalist HR role

> Experience working in a Christian or faith-based organization

> Good knowledge of UK employment law

> Strong communication and organisational skills

> High levels of discretion and professionalism

> Experience with posting job vacancies on Indeed, LinkedIn, Charity Jobs and Christian jobs and any other as needed

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Events Manager to lead the development and delivery of our events programme. This is a pivotal role where you’ll design and execute high-quality, inclusive events—both online and in person—that engage our members, registrants, and stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Plan and manage events from concept to completion, ensuring clear objectives and impactful outcomes.
• Deliver a variety of events, including workshops, webinars, conferences, and networking forums.
• Source venues, manage suppliers, and oversee budgets to ensure cost-effective delivery.
• Innovate with new ideas to enhance engagement and generate income through sponsorship and ticketing.
• Collaborate with marketing colleagues to promote events and ensure strong attendance.

• Experience in event planning and management (face-to-face and online).

• Technical know-how with AV systems and event management tools.

Desirable:

This role will be based between our London office, home working and travel to deliver events across the UK.

The role holds day-to-day responsibility for Church Army’s CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics), including managing relationships with external technology partners. It plays a vital part in maintaining accurate, high-quality supporter data and ensuring the CRM is used effectively across the Engagement Team and wider organisation.
