The RSPCA York, Harrogate & District Branch is seeking to increase its fundraising activity in order to secure the funding neccessary to completely rebuild the York Animal Home. We are looking to bring on an experienced individual to design, launch and lead our capital campaign and raise the remaining funds needed to complete the project.
The Capital Campaign Lead will take overall responsibility for planning, leading and delivering the £5m capital appeal over the next few years. This includes developing the case for support, managing campaign phases, cultivating major donors and funders, and ensuring strong governance, reporting and stewardship throughout the campaign.
The York Animal Home was built in 1980 and no longer meets modern welfare, licensing or operational requirements. Demand for our services is rising sharply, while the complexity and scale of cases continues to grow. We are at the point where our current animal facilities do meet our needs and have been working to redevelop the site and build new modern facilities.
We have received planning permission and are in the process of finalising the designs prior to construction beginning this year.
We expect Major donors, high-net worth individuals and corporate partnerships to make up the main elements of the fundraising campaign, so are looking for individuals with a proven track record of raising large sums in these areas.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager (Maternity Cover) will play a pivotal role in the delivery of its major donor programme. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, this role sits at the heart of the philanthropy team, combining hands-on major gifts fundraising with oversight of systems, processes and pipeline management. The postholder will shape and steward a growing portfolio of high-value supporters during a critical phase of the Hall’s capital appeal, while ensuring that donor engagement activity is coordinated, consistent and effective.

As Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will:
- Report to the Head of Philanthropy and line manage two direct reports – Senior Prospect Researcher and Philanthropy Coordinator – fostering clarity, structure and confidence within your team.
- Manage a personal portfolio of major donors, stewarding relationships typically in the £20,000–£500,000 range.
- Work to a team income target, generating funds from HNWIs through major gifts, mid-value gifts and legacies.
- Own and drive the major donor pipeline, ensuring clear next steps, momentum and follow-through across cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
- Be donor-facing, through regular face-to-face meetings, cultivation activity and events, including evening engagement as part of stewardship.
- Ensure robust processes are in place for tracking, thanking and income processing, with delivery support from the Philanthropy Coordinator.
- Act as a central coordinating figure for major donor activity, working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, Development Director and selected Philanthropy Board members.
- Lead on the rollout of donor communications, including tailored donor stewardship and wider impact reporting.
- Work closely with other development colleagues who focus on the Hall’s Friends and Patrons programmes, Trust and Foundation approaches and Events.
Essential skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience of managing and stewarding high-value individual donors, ideally within a major gifts or upper mid-value context.
- Experience of personally securing c.£50K+ donations from HNWIs – please ensure that examples of personally secured gifts from HNWIs, including £value, are included on your CV. It would also be helpful to include context e.g., uplift, new donor
- Confidence working with fundraising databases and systems (ideally Tessitura), and a strong understanding of GDPR and DPA 2018.
- Strong organisational and process skills, with the ability to keep complex, multi-strand activity moving and well-tracked.
- Experience of working collaboratively in a matrixed environment with senior stakeholders and volunteers.
- Some line management or mentoring experience, with the ability to provide clear direction and practical support. However, this is not a heavily people-management-focused role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging donors in a range of settings.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach, combined with sound judgement and professionalism.
Desirable:
- Arts, culture or heritage fundraising experience.
- Experience of working on or alongside a capital appeal.

We are recruiting for an Out of School Childcare Leader to join our Out of School Childcare team. The role is for a Fixed Term Contract until July 2026.
You will be responsible for leading and delivering a programme of Ofsted registered Breakfast and After School Clubs, offering a range of free play opportunities as well as structured programmes. The post holder will lead a team of playworkers and volunteers, to ensure that the service provided is of high quality and appropriate for the varying children who attend.
This role requires someone with Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, play work or equivalent or be willing to undertake this level of training upon employment.
You must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a childcare setting.
Working Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7.15am to 9am and 2.45pm to 6pm Term time only with optional role in holidays.

Key responsibilities:

Purpose
The Statutory Compliance Administrator plays a key role in supporting statutory, safeguarding and regulatory processes within the home. The post holder will take responsibility for the efficient day-to-day administration of the Trust’s membership schemes, using the Charity CRM database to maintain accurate contact & financial records in line with GDPR. This includes processing new, renewing and lapsed memberships, handling payments ( Direct Debits, PayPal & Gift Aid) and providing consistently high-quality communication with members through enquiries, welcome packs, renewal reminders and supporter care.
You’ll also support member growth and retention by helping deliver key supporter journey communications, thanking activity and retention projects, and by liaising with external partners such as the membership recruitment agency. An exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of a growing adult literacy charity as it expands across North England
One in 20 adults in the UK has never learnt to read at all. This can have a serious impact on their confidence and wellbeing, limiting access to training, employment, and everyday opportunities that many take for granted. Being unable to read as an adult can be isolating and dangerous, reinforces social inequality, restricts economic growth, and worsens intergenerational disadvantage - but it is never too late to learn.
Read Easy helps adults transform their lives by learning to read. It does this by supporting its growing network of locally run, volunteer-led affiliated groups that offer free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching—both in person and online to adults - aged from 18-88.
With its free, flexible, confidential approach, Read Easy encourages people who are too embarrassed to join a class to come forward for one-to-one support. Each new reader is provided with their own personal Reading Coach, so that they can learn in private and at their own pace. Learning to read transforms their lives in many other ways as well, including enabling them to support their children’s and grandchildren’s reading, and so transfers the benefits to the next generation.
There are currently 80 affiliated Read Easy groups across England, together involving more than a thousand volunteers. Read Easy UK is the registered charity and umbrella organisation which supports this network of affiliated volunteer groups and provides the structure, training and support to enable volunteers to establish groups in new areas.
As our North Regional Adviser, your role would be to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure that all volunteer groups in your region consistently deliver high-quality services aligned with Read Easy UK’s strategy.
You will support local volunteer leaders to strengthen group performance, and foster collaboration across affiliated groups, so that that they deliver coaching to Readers with consistent quality, and a positive and worthwhile experience is had by all.
You will also find volunteers to ‘pioneer’ four new groups in the counties where there is no Read Easy presence and provide them and our 17 existing groups and pioneers in the region, with high-quality support. Your quality support will ensure that they provide the same for their volunteers and new Readers. From meeting (mostly online) with Team Leaders to provide one to one support, and hosting online and annual in-person volunteer forums, to delivering presentations and occasional training for small groups of volunteers, this is a dynamic and rewarding role.
This is a home-based post requiring flexibility, some early evening working and occasional travel to visit groups. The role is available on a part time basis (22.5 hours p/w, 60% of 37.5 hours p/w FTE).
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Live within one of the following areas: York, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire or Greater Manchester (Due to the location of our groups in the region, and to ensure efficient travel);
- have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years;
- have strong people management and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; and the confidence to run meetings and deliver presentations.

We are seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager to shape how our work is seen, understood and engaged with across local government and public policy. This role will lead the day-to-day delivery of our communications and marketing activity at a moment of growing influence and impact for the organisation.
Working horizontally across New Local’s practice, membership, policy and events work, the postholder will help ensure our ideas, relationships and activity are brought together coherently and effectively for our audiences. You will play a central role in developing compelling stories from our research, practice and partnerships, including the work of member councils. To do this, an interest in and understanding of the changing relationship between citizens and the state at a local level will be an important asset.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced communications professional who combines strong editorial and digital skills with a willingness to think strategically, sound judgement and creativity. Success will be measured not just by the quality of individual outputs, but by the extent to which New Local’s communications feel joined-up, collaborative and mutually reinforcing across teams, extending the reach, influence and impact of our work.
Your job will include:

Leading and delivering New Local’s communications and marketing activity, aligning content, channels and campaigns with organisational priorities and positioning.

Planning and coordinating communications for key publications, events, campaigns and moments, managing an editorial calendar that brings together policy, practice, membership and external opportunities.

Overseeing New Local’s digital presence, including the website, newsletters and social media, ensuring content is timely, engaging and high quality.

Working horizontally across teams to align messaging and identify shared stories, shaping joined-up communications that support membership growth, events, partnerships and policy influence.

With strong writing skills, this person will also craft tailored and compelling corporate proposals and trust and foundation applications.

To support our vision and ensure the achievement of ambitious income targets to support children and families affected by neuroblastoma, we are looking for a strategic and results-driven high-value fundraiser to join our team.
We are particularly keen to speak with interested candidates who enjoy cultivating high-value relationships from scratch and stewarding five- and six-figure corporate partnerships, and/or major donor relationships.
Person specification:
- Demonstrable significant experience working in corporate fundraising (experience in major donor and trusts & foundations fundraising would also be of benefit).
- Strategic thinker with significant experience at a managerial level, developing strategic plans to grow and optimise high-value fundraising.
- A proven record of being results-driven and working to achieve income targets, KPIs and outcomes.
- Proven ability to proactively identify, cultivate and secure new corporate relationships, demonstrate strong new business development acumen and confidence opening new opportunities.
