Our publications and online learning resources support teachers to make a difference to the lives of millions of children across the country. Our peer-reviewed practitioner journal is used by teachers and educators to develop their evidence-informed practice.
We are recruiting within the content and publishing team to welcome an Editorial Assistant who believes in our mission to support the work we do.
Over the coming months, the Editorial Assistant will keep the journal's peer review cycle on track, provide high-quality support to authors and reviewers and contribute to wider publishing activity across the Chartered College.
This would be an ideal opportunity for a highly organised, detail-oriented person with an interest in publishing and education. You will:
Peer Review Administration
Most of your time will be spent supporting the peer review process for our practitioner journal. This includes researching and identifying suitable reviewers, matching them to article abstracts and manuscripts, and coordinating the allocation of two reviewers per article. You will send articles out to reviewers with the relevant guidelines, track response deadlines, and follow up as needed. Once reviews are received, you will format the reports to a consistent standard and save them to the shared Google Drive. We currently organise our workflow around Asana and Google Drive, and you'll work closely with the Content Editor to keep the review cycle on track. You will need to be someone who can manage several articles at different stages simultaneously and take pride in keeping things well-organised and on time.
Author support and proofreading
You will spend some of your time on proofreading and editorial tasks, including marking up corrections on PDFs and supporting the Content Editor with copy amendments during the production process. You will also act as a first point of contact for authors, providing clear and friendly communication to support them through the publication process – from submission through to final publication. You will be expected to respond to author queries professionally and promptly, escalating where needed, and to help maintain a positive experience for contributors to the journal.
Wider publishing support
You will spend some of your time supporting wider publishing activity across the College, including uploading and updating content on WordPress and carrying out other publishing-related tasks as and when required. Beyond your core responsibilities, you will also participate in team meetings and be encouraged to take part in professional learning activities and training to maintain and develop your knowledge and skills.
About You
Editorial support for us means keeping our peer review process running efficiently and providing a positive, professional experience for the authors and reviewers who contribute to our journal.
You do not need to have expertise in absolutely all areas, let us decide! We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and encourage you to apply. We're looking for someone who is motivated by our vision and is passionate about publishing and supporting the work of teachers. Systems you would be using include Asana, Google Drive, WordPress and Adobe Acrobat (or equivalent PDF editing tools).

Help young people with an affinity for mathematics thrive.
We're looking for a Data + Insights Manager to build shared data systems, analyse national data and help a network of schools make better decisions.
This is an opportunity to join a small, ambitious charity at an exciting stage of its development. You'll help schools collect and use data more effectively, develop shared systems that save time and improve practice, and build the insight that helps schools, funders and U-Maths make better decisions.
If you enjoy turning real-world data into practical insight and want your work to have a national impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Why U-Maths?
U-Maths is the national charity for University Maths Schools.
Our vision is that every young person with an affinity for mathematics can thrive and succeed.
Our mission is to advance excellence and equity in mathematics education by strengthening and growing the national network of University Maths Schools.
There are currently nine state-funded University Maths Schools, each established in partnership with a leading university and specialising in mathematics and the mathematical sciences for students aged 16–19. The network continues to grow, with two further schools in Nottingham and Durham due to open.
Together, these schools are helping more young people – particularly those from backgrounds currently under-represented in the mathematical sciences – to access an outstanding mathematics education and progress to ambitious futures.
Why this role?
Schools are stronger when they work together.
By developing shared data systems, high-quality analysis and robust evidence at national level, U-Maths helps every University Maths School understand its work, strengthen its impact and reduce unnecessary duplication.
As our Data + Insights Manager, you'll play a central role in making that happen.
About the role
You'll lead U-Maths' work on data and insight across the network.
You'll help schools collect, manage and use data more effectively, develop and support a shared outreach CRM, produce high-quality reporting for schools and funders, and strengthen the evidence that helps U-Maths understand and improve its impact.
You'll also work with partners such as the Observatory for Mathematical Education to support robust national analysis and benchmarking where specialist expertise is needed.

You might have developed your skills in education, the charity sector, widening participation, evaluation, operations, CRM implementation or another setting where careful use of data matters. We're more interested in the skills, judgement and approach you bring than in where you have gained them.
We're looking for someone who:
Why join us?
You'll be joining a small national team with the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to one of the UK's most successful educational innovations.
We offer:
We're aiming for the successful candidate to start on 1 December 2026, with some flexibility.

About Depaul UK
In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. Appalled by the scenes playing out across the capital, a group of people came together to tackle the challenge head on. Led by Cardinal Basil Hume and Mark McGreevy OBE, in 1989 Depaul UK was born.
What began as a single housing project in North London soon expanded across London, Greater Manchester and the North East of England. Today, Depaul UK provides accommodation, prevention and support services to thousands of marginalised young people across the UK each year.
As our name suggests, the work of Depaul UK has been inspired by St. Vincent de Paul – a man who devoted his life to helping vast numbers of people throughout the 17th century. St. Vincent de Paul’s belief in the intrinsic worth of all people and his commitment to taking bold action remain central to our values today. Depaul UK now forms part of a family of Depaul charities around the world. We each focus on the specific challenges in our own countries, but we’re united by our shared values and mission to end homelessness.
