In this role, you will develop and deliver an insight-led advocacy strategy, setting clear policy priorities and shaping positions on complex regulatory issues. You’ll provide senior leadership with high quality briefings and strategic advice, translating emerging policy developments into clear organisational responses and opportunities to influence.
A core focus will be external engagement. Building strong relationships with parliamentarians, government departments, regulators and industry bodies, while acting as a visible and credible spokesperson. You’ll also lead media engagement, identifying opportunities to secure national and trade coverage, and ensuring the organisation has a strong, consistent voice across public, policy and media debates. Alongside this, you will lead and develop a small team and oversee the delivery of impactful advocacy campaigns.
We’re looking for a confident and credible policy and public affairs professional with experience influencing government, regulators and the media. You’ll bring strong policy development skills, excellent communication and the ability to navigate complex, high-profile environments. Comfortable operating both strategically and hands on, you may come from a professional body, regulator, government, consultancy or think tank background, and will be motivated by the opportunity to take on a visible role with real influence.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced membership engagement professional to plan and deliver dynamic programme of activities for our Fellowship. Informed by insight gathered through a recent Fellows’ survey, you’ll help shape a more connected and active membership, ensuring activities align with the RSE’s mission of “knowledge made useful”.
Working closely with Fellows and colleagues across the organisation, the Membership Engagement Officer will plan and deliver a varied programme of events, networking, and engagement opportunities. You will also collaborate with the Communications team to develop targeted, meaningful content that strengthens relationship and encourages participation.
This is a new and exciting role focused on building a culture of active engagement. You’ll convene and support an advisory group, evaluate the impact of activities, and continuously refine the programme using data and feedback.

The role
We are seeking a creative, agile and ambitious Graphic Designer to lead the visual identity of our flagship educational programme, Topical Talk Headlines.
Working three days a week, this role offers an extraordinary amount of creative freedom. Every week brings a brand-new global news story, and it will be up to you to establish its unique look and feel. From choosing typography and vibrant colour palettes to deciding between illustration and photography, you will have the autonomy to design resources that make complex, intimidating global issues accessible and engaging for young people aged 10-16 around the world.
Reporting to the Director of Programmes and working closely with our experienced in-house Designer, you will be embedded in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will partner with our expert team of ex-teacher content creators to brainstorm, iterate and deliver world-class classroom resources on tight, overlapping deadlines. While your primary focus will be Topical Talk Headlines, you will also support wider brand and marketing projects across the charity as time allows.

The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking its first Internal Communications Manager to join the Communications and Marketing Team in our Communications Directorate. The post holder will manage the delivery of internal communications across the organisation.
The role
The Internal Communications Manager is a pivotal role in shaping how our colleagues collaborate and connect to deliver brilliant work.
You will ensure staff receive regular, clear and engaging information which builds understanding of how everyone across the organisation contributes to the British Academy’s strategic goals and fulfils its purpose as the UK’s voice for the humanities and social sciences.
The Internal Communications Manager will design and deliver the internal communications strategy that engages staff with the organisation, aligns internal messaging with our ways of working, behaviours and corporate objectives, and celebrates our successes and shared purpose.
As a confident communications professional and leader, you are adept at managing relationships with senior stakeholders and understanding colleagues’ internal communications needs. You are a persuasive and confident communicator, able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and discretion. Experience of internal communications management and channels, including developing and managing a staff intranet, are essential for this role.

THE ROLE
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Grants Manager to join our fundraising team and support the development of our grants and trusts income, from research and writing through to reporting and funder relationships. The successful candidate will play a central role in the fundraising team, working closely with the Head of Fundraising to manage the end-to-end process of our trusts and foundations income.
Core responsibilities will include writing and submitting funding applications, managing active grants and funder communications, leading on reporting, and maintaining our funder stewardship plan.
