The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in delivering Deafblind UK’s marketing and communications activity, helping to tell powerful stories, grow brand awareness, and strengthen engagement with people with lived experience, supporters, funders, and the wider public.
Working alongside the Head of Marketing & Communications, the postholder will act as a proactive and trusted collaborator, supporting teams across services, fundraising, volunteering and operations. This role is not only about delivering day-to-day communications; it will also play a key part in our next stage of growth—bringing energy, creativity and new ways of thinking to help us expand our influence and impact.
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, proactive content expert to play a hands-on role in shaping our voice and impact.
Responsibilities
Content & Campaigns
- Research, write and publish engaging content across multiple channels (website, social media, email, press, print).
- Create photo and video content.
- Develop case studies and human-interest stories that bring Deafblind UK’s work to life.
- Support the planning and delivery of national campaigns (e.g. Deafblind Awareness Week, annual conference, fundraising appeals).
- Produce and schedule content using tools such as Hootsuite, Mailchimp and Canva (or similar).
- Internal Business Partnering
- Act as a responsive and proactive marketing partner for internal teams, building strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
- Understand the goals and priorities of internal stakeholders, translating them into effective communications outputs.
- Respond promptly to requests for marketing and communications support, prioritising, managing resources advising and guiding colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.
- Coordinate internal communications and updates to ensure all staff and volunteers feel informed and inspired by Deafblind UK’s work.
Digital Marketing
- Maintain and update website content and e-marketing, ensuring accessibility, accuracy and alignment with brand guidelines.
- Support the growth of Deafblind UK’s digital audiences, accurately and consistently tracking engagement and reach using analytics and insights and adjusting approaches accordingly.
- Measuring and reporting on digital outcomes, keeping up to date with best practices and new opportunities.
- Assist in the creation and delivery of paid digital activity (social and search).
- Ensure all communications adhere to accessibility and inclusion best practice.
- Media & PR
- Support media monitoring and maintain up-to-date media contact lists.
- Using strong news and political instincts to respond to media enquiries in coordination with the Head of Marketing & Communications.
- Help identify and prepare case studies, photography, and spokespeople for press opportunities.
Brand & Internal Communications
- Champion consistent use of Deafblind UK’s brand, tone of voice, and visual identity across all channels.
- Support colleagues to apply the brand effectively in their own materials and communications.
- Contribute to internal communications such as newsletters, intranet content and staff updates.
Events & Partnerships
- Assist in the planning and delivery of events, exhibitions, and partnership activations.
- Liaise with suppliers, freelancers, and creative agencies when required.

- Track KPIs and engagement data, compiling regular reports on digital and media performance.
- Contribute creative ideas and insights to improve marketing effectiveness and internal collaboration.
Person Specification
Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in marketing, communications, or/and PR
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for storytelling.
- Proven ability to manage relationships and provide high-quality support to internal stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, content scheduling, and analytics – and a proactive interest in adapting to trends and changes in best practice.
- Experience producing accessible and engaging content for digital and print channels.

About the Role
As Team Leader, you will be directly involved in managing the outstanding Ofsted rated and CYPN award winning home and providing positive support for challenging young people aged 12-17. The successful candidate will have:

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Resettlement & Activities Coordinator to join our brand new service which is due to go live April 2026! This is an 11 bed, community based mental health service, offering short stay, trauma informed support. You will support our residents who are at risk of admission but can be supported outside of mental health hospital settings, by providing tailored support to them to help them overcome their personal barriers, and achieve their goals, to live more fulfilled lives and independent living. You will play a major part in ensuring a safe, stable and secure accommodation setting which provides the right support to resident needs.
You will lead on delivering high quality activities and programmes which work to support individual need, whilst providing practical support to residents who require help with finding and sustaining suitable accommodation and engaging with community based services such as councils, training providers, and local authorities. The purpose of the role is to create a sense of belonging and independence through activities and support planning. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and meaningful work in a supportive team environment.

- Planning and coordinating individual and group activities and sessions such as days out and visits, awareness days/weeks/months campaigns, cultural celebrations and other meaningful events.

The Student Volunteering & Social Impact Coordinator leads the coordination of London Play Design’s Student Volunteering Programme, working closely with delivery/ Technical teams, partnerships staff and senior management.
This role focuses on connecting people, projects and learning, rather than carrying sole responsibility for delivery. The post-holder coordinates systems, supports students and ensures quality, while working as part of a wider team.
The role is designed to be manageable, collaborative and sustainable, with clear shared ownership of outputs.
The role operates across two interconnected strands:
Student learning, insight and impact
Supporting students to understand the social impact of London Play Design’s work, contribute to evaluation and learning, and help strengthen partnerships through the development of case studies and programme insights.
Practical delivery and capacity-building
Connecting students with hands-on opportunities that build their practical experience while supporting the delivery of corporate volunteer days, construction activity and community projects.
What You Will Do
1. Coordinate the Student Volunteering Programme
You will oversee the day-to-day coordination of the programme, ensuring students have a clear, supportive and meaningful experience.
This includes:
- Coordinating student recruitment, onboarding and induction
- Developing clear volunteering pathways, role descriptions and learning outcomes
- Acting as the main point of contact for student volunteers
- Monitoring engagement, attendance and well-being in collaboration with on-site teams
- Supporting continuous programme improvement as part of a team, not in isolation
On-site supervision and safeguarding are led by delivery staff. You will not be expected to supervise students independently on live sites.
2. Support Research, Learning & Social Impact (with students)
You will coordinate and quality-check student-led research and impact work, rather than producing it yourself.
Your role will be to:
- Support students to collect qualitative and quantitative data
- Guide students in drafting case studies, learning notes and impact stories
- Review work, give feedback and ensure clarity and consistency
- Coordinate publication processes alongside the Partnerships team or delegated student roles
- Share learning internally to support organisational development
- Supporting funding applications and reporting with structured evidence and insights
You will not be responsible for writing funding applications or producing full reports independently.
3. Connect Students to Live Projects
You will work with internal teams to place students on appropriate projects for learning and case-study purposes, and support volunteer days and construction delivery
This includes:
- Matching students to projects and departments
- Liaising with technical and Partnership teams to support access and information
- Connecting students with partner charities where appropriate
- Keeping student case-study activity on track
- Working with the technical team to align student support with project needs
- Balancing learning needs with delivery realities
4. Maintain University Partnerships
London Play Design already has established relationships with a small number of universities (typically 2–3).
You will:
- Maintain communication with university contacts
- Represent the organisation at a small number of events or talks each year (approx. 3–4)
- Support the ongoing development of placement and volunteering opportunities.
5. Support Communications & Storytelling (Shared Responsibility)
Working with student volunteers and the Partnerships team, you will support:
- Clear and accessible communication of London Play Design’s work
- Impact storytelling for websites, publications and social media
- Sharing community learning and project outcomes
You will not be the sole content producer or final editor for all communications.

You will help form part of a UK-wide team of remote Helpline Advisors operating the only modern slavery specific helpline in the UK. After completing our training package for new Helpline Advisors (approximately four weeks) you will begin working as part of a collaborative and dynamic team responding to a variety of callers and contacts.
You will be answering incoming calls, making callouts, sending emails, drafting referrals to external agencies, and maintaining accurate data will be your day-to-day responsibilities.
You will contribute to a service that as well as providing information, advice and guidance to our service users, also helps create one of the largest non-governmental bodies of data on the scale of modern slavery in the UK which is used to influence strategy and policy at local, national and international levels.
