The Vacancy
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and proactive Partnerships Manager with a strong instinct for business development and a track record of turning opportunities into significant funding partnerships. You will be energised by identifying new prospects, opening doors and building relationships with trusts, foundations and corporate partners. Creative and strategic in your approach, you will be comfortable shaping compelling propositions and developing confident high seven figure funding asks that resonate with large philanthropic donors.
You will also be a mature, thoughtful and kind manager who can lead and develop a high performing team. We are looking for someone who can set ambitious targets, encourage initiative and create an environment where colleagues feel trusted, motivated and able to grow, while playing a central role in expanding and diversifying a major global funding portfolio.
JOB PURPOSE
The Partnerships Manager will be a key position within the fundraising team, managing key private donors and co-leading on developing and implementing a new business strategy focused on significantly increasing trust and foundation and corporate funders.
They will also be working with SLT members to put together strategic seven and eight figure grants and strategic plans to engage large global donors to support Start Network programming.
The Resource Mobilisation team works collaboratively with those in programmes to manage internal and external relationships, adopting a coordinated approach when it comes to donor management and reporting.
The Partnerships Manager, together with the Head of Resource Mobilisation, will set and deliver a strategy that maximises trust and foundation and corporate funding and set a clear path to bring in new donors and increase income substantially over the coming three years. Currently the funding portfolio you will be managing is over £30million from 13+ global donors. This means this role is personally responsible for engaging and retaining 60% of our donors. This role will set a strategy to increase income according to targets, maximise donors plus retain all key strategic donors through robust engagement plans. Beyond this, the person in post will line manage three with scope for growth in 2026.
Additionally, across 2026-2028 and beyond they will lead on the development of an employee engagement offering with our corporates and corporate foundations in order to create a new avenue of unrestricted funding.
Beyond this, we expect this role, to lead on behalf of the resource mobilization team key global events, particularly Skoll / Marmalade and Shift the Power. In collaboration with the Institutional Funding Manager they will also plan our activities London and NY Climate Weeks. They will set the plans and strategy for the organization to engage with these events and work with Directors, CEO, Heads of, and coordinate cross organisational plans for this together with our Head of Advocacy and Influence.
Finally, this role will act as a key point of contact for the communications and advocacy teams and will need to make sure donor requirement and visibility will be taken into account across teams projects and strategies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Increase new business from trusts and foundations and corporate funders
- Lead on the development of an innovative strategy together with the Head of Resource Mobilisation and Director of Business Development to identify and drive new business from trusts and foundations and corporates.
- Responsible for growing our funding from new geographical areas (focus on US and Asia) and sectors (Insurance) – and set a plan that will enable the diversification of our funding portfolio.
- Oversee the development and implementation of an employee engagement offer in order to create a new avenue of unrestricted income and boost the interest of corporate donors.
- Drive high quality prospecting of new potential funders across the organisation by working with and guiding heads of teams and the CEO strategically to engage with this task.
- Oversee how the organisation engages strategically with large trusts and foundations and corporates (potential giving 7 and 8 figures).
- Co-lead on the planning of key global events with our external affairs team such as Climate Week (New York and London) and make sure we have a cross organisational strategic approach to these events.
- Oversee the strategy to catalyse new relationships with middle sized trusts and foundations and corporates with a potential giving of 6 figures.
- Set a plan to attract more flexibility funding that can enable the organisation to catalyse key strategic projects that fall out of our programmes.
- Lead on developing positioning for corporate partnerships (insurance, finance, and tech industries), new areas of business for Start Network.
- Lead on the business planning process for the Trust and Foundations and Corporates Team.
- Manage large event budgets and make sure resources are used effectively.
- Work with programmes teams and colleagues to understand funding needs and develop creative ways to position and pitch areas of Start Network such as hubs, innovation etc.
- Work with programmes teams and finance team to drive and support the development of robust budgets and narrative proposals for large and medium sized asks.
- Attend and speak at key advocacy events, representing the resource mobilisation team as required, in order to meet donors and advocate for Start Network’s mission
Ensure high quality stewardship of current philanthropic donors
- Responsible for the overall stewardship of several high giving trusts and foundations (6, 7 & 8 figures).
- Oversee the development of quality reporting and updates for donors and make sure we have clear processes and systems for this to happen
- Responsible for making sure the resource mobilization team is creating informative and engaging updates across programmes for T&F and corporate donors.
- Work across teams to implement the insurance advisory group and make sure this group links back to resource mobilization strategies.
- Work with heads of teams to develop an engaging agenda for the insurance advisory group, taking into account the function and work with finance team to ensure appropriate expenditure of grant. Oversee the development of complex donor budgets and make sure they are ready for CFOO and Director approval.
- Support grant management function and work with finance team to ensure appropriate expenditure of grants.
- Work closely with the communications team in order to set up a strategic comms plan that will enable the organisation to position itself as a trend setter in the humanitarian sector, particularly around our core areas of work.
Influence externally
- Work with the Head of Resource Mobilisation and Director of Business Development to position Start Network strategically in global funding discussions.
- Engage key donors at strategic events and meetings.
- Work with the Head of Advocacy and External Affairs to coordinate advocacy messages for donors.

- A well stablished fundraiser, with experience of developing relationships with a wide range of private funders (including 7-8 figure multi-year grants).
- A leader with management experience who can grow a team effectively.
- Good understanding the humanitarian sector and key stakeholders and can represent Start Network accordingly in global external event.
- An experienced bid writer who can oversee the process of bids creation and can write them when required.
- A person who is experienced in putting together multi million pound budgets, working across teams.
- An experience fundraiser who has managed large donors such as Gates, Hilton, IKEA.
- Experience in managing a £10m annual plus portfolio.
- Experience negotiating complex multi-million pound contracts.
- A confident speaker who can pitch and convince technical donors to fund our cause.
- A leader with experience in setting funding strategies and executing them
- Proactive and strong skills in business development, with experience of taking the lead on identifying and securing new funding opportunities.

Job Summary
The Philanthropy Manager will develop a philanthropy strategy, building on the partnerships and resources already in place. You will develop a pipeline backed up by robust prospect research (some administrative assistance will be provided), and instigate a cultivation and stewardship programme, typically adopting a staged approach to major asks.
You will be accountable for the acquisition, development, and stewardship of high value supporters for CUF, both individual philanthropists and non-statutory grant-making bodies. You will develop and strengthen relationships with existing donors, as well as identifying warm prospects currently not supporting CUF financially. A key part of your role will be meeting and engaging major donor prospects to grow the pool.
You will engage with Trustees and senior leaders, to identify and nurture Christian philanthropists and grant body decision-makers within their spheres of influence.
You will lead on developing cases for support and writing grant applications, helped by the wider staff team.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with high levels of motivation, and the ability to both develop and operationalise strategy as a member of a small team. You will have a track record of successfully initiating, managing and developing relationships with High-Net-Worth individuals and grantmaking bodies, and securing donations and grants, via proposals or through face-to-face meetings, as required.

Job Purpose:
EMERGENCY ONG ETS (‘EMERGENCY’) is an independent non-governmental organisation. Headquartered in Italy, it provides free, high-quality medical and surgical treatment to victims of war, landmines and poverty. At the same time, it promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights.
Since its founding in 1994, EMERGENCY has worked in 21 countries around the world, providing free medical care in accordance with its core principles of equality, quality and social responsibility. We do this in a sustainable way: by building healthcare facilities, training local personnel, and conducting search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean Sea.
As an affiliate, EMERGENCY UK has set out an exciting ambition to build on its success over the last three years. This includes a substantial growth in its income, with a particular focus on high value giving from philanthropists, trusts and other private donors. The aim is to implement the newly developed high value fundraising strategy, with a view to tripling current income levels from this source by securing high five and six figure gifts of both unrestricted and restricted income.
The purpose of the Development Manager is to build and maintain a portfolio of high value donors and prospects through proactive networking, identifying cultivation opportunities and thoughtful stewardship. With a focus range of £100,000 and above, the position will develop long-term, strategic partnerships with existing and potential high value supporters, where relationships and their impact will be measured from both a financial and non-financial perspective.
The postholder must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a high degree of lateral thinking within a small but hard-working team.
Main activities:
1) To raise funds in the form of high value gifts (focusing on £100,000 and above) through a variety of methods, including regular face-to-face meetings, attending conferences and participating in other activities by implementing a comprehensive programme to identify, research, cultivate and solicit high value donors who have the potential for significant, multi-year giving.
In this context, the postholder will be required to spend a considerable amount of the working week out of the office travelling and meeting in person with potential donors and their representatives.
2) To manage and develop meaningful donor relationships, including with existing donors, by utilising a wide range of methods, including stewardship events and networking amongst existing donors and their contacts.
3) To actively participate in the implementation of the current high value fundraising strategy, leading change and adjusting plans based on experience and realistic assessments in order to meet pre-agreed targets. This includes supporting the ongoing development of all aspects of the strategy, such as the case for support, prospect research, donor recognition opportunities and individual donor development plans for high value donors and prospects.
4) To contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, taking a lead role in the annual planning and reporting process for high value donors, providing regular progress reports against income targets and ensuring high standards of accountability. This also includes ensuring written and electronic records of donors are maintained, in compliance with data protection legislation.
5) To represent, and act as an ambassador, for EMERGENCY UK at external events, promoting its work and values where and when possible.
Person specification:
- Senior level experience working with foundations, corporates, high and ultra-high net worth individuals, leading them from identification to giving annual and multi-year gifts at the high five and six-figure level
- Experience of working independently to identify and cultivate prospects and influencers who have the ability to make personal introductions to high and ultra-high net worth individuals
- Experience in implementing high value giving strategies and annual plans for high and ultra-high net worth individuals, including reporting on targets and KPIs
- Experience of identifying potential high value donors, qualifying prospects and managing/growing a high-level prospect pipeline
- Experience of working with restricted grant funding: submitting proposals, completing monitoring forms and reporting to donors
- Experience of working within the humanitarian and development sector is preferable

The Communications Manager plays a key role in increasing the reach, visibility, and impact of the organisation’s work. The post-holder will lead on creating high-quality, audience-focused communications across digital platforms, ensuring all content reflects the organisation’s values, brand, and strategic priorities.
Working closely with colleagues and sector stakeholders, the role involves managing social media, newsletters, and the website; supporting events and campaigns; and communicating the impact of the NBO and NBAS within the newborn and perinatal field. The successful candidate will combine creativity, strong organisational skills, and sector awareness to deliver engaging, relevant, and impactful communications.
Suitability
This is a part-time, maternity-cover post. We welcome applications from individuals in a range of professional circumstances, and appointment will be based on the candidate who best meets the requirements of the role.
The suggested working pattern is 14–21 hours per week. This could be delivered across 2–3 days, or through shorter hours spread across more days, subject to discussion at interview.
The role may suit a practising clinician seeking to combine this post alongside clinical work, or an individual with communications experience in a health service, voluntary sector, or charity setting.

Job Description
The following job description provides an overview of the key duties of the role. The post-holder may, on occasion, be required to undertake other reasonable tasks as requested to support the organisation’s work.
1. Digital and Communications Platforms Management
- Social media planning: Develop and follow a social media content plan that includes a range of content types (promotional, engagement, inspirational), reflects the organisation’s strategic goals, and is tailored to the audience’s needs to ensure content is relevant, targeted, and impactful.
- Social media management: Manage the organisation’s social media platforms, including posting, scheduling, and engaging with relevant posts (e.g., commenting, sharing, or reposting where appropriate).
- Email newsletters: Plan, gather, and assemble engaging content (including guest articles) into visually appealing newsletters using Mailchimp, ensuring a mix of news, articles, and resources.
- Website management: Maintain and update the organisation’s WordPress website, including content updates, managing functionalities such as the learning platform and forms, and publishing new content (e.g., blogs). Liaise with website hosts or technical support as needed.
- Email communication: Use email to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders and respond to queries promptly.
2. Sector-Informed Engagement and Initiatives
- Gathering Impact Content: Engage practitioners, managers, and other stakeholders to collect photos, case studies, testimonials, and quotes that demonstrate how the NBO and NBAS are being used in practice and the difference they make. Use this content across social media, newsletters, and the website to showcase the organisation’s impact.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including trainers, champions, international colleagues, bursary awardees, and partner organisations, to support communications activities such as guest articles, talks, and dissemination through their networks.
- Sector awareness: Maintain awareness of developments within the newborn, perinatal, and ‘1001 days’ field (including policy, NHS services, government initiatives, and charitable activities) to ensure communications remain current.
- Awareness campaigns: Support relevant awareness days and weeks throughout the year, primarily via social media, contributing a Brazelton-informed voice to wider sector themes and discussions.
- Baby Communication Week: Plan and deliver Baby Communication Week, the organisation’s annual awareness campaign, ensuring strong thematic focus and high-quality events to maximise educational impact and engagement.
- Strategic initiatives: Support additional initiatives that increase the reach, visibility, and impact of the organisation’s work in line with strategic objectives.
3. Content Creation and Brand Compliance
- Visual content: Use design tools such as Canva to produce visual assets — including graphics, videos, and, on occasion, printed materials such as posters — for social media, newsletters, the website, and events, ensuring all content is visually engaging and aligned with the organisation’s branding.
- Written content: Create written copy for a variety of channels, including newsletters, social media posts and captions, website pages, blogs, and promotional materials, ensuring all content is clear, engaging, and consistent with the organisation’s tone of voice.
- Ensure all communications comply with the organisation’s branding and communications policy, providing guidance and support to team members as required.
4. Events and Programme Administration
- Online events: Assist with the organisation of Brazelton online events, such as quarterly Inform & Inspire Sessions, including setting up Eventbrite ticketing/booking pages, managing Zoom sessions, recording events, and uploading content to YouTube for catch-up.
- In-person events: Support the planning and delivery of occasional in-person events, including representing the organisation at external exhibitions and contributing to the Brazelton Centre UK 30th anniversary conference in 2027.
- Bursary schemes: Assist with the administration of annual bursary schemes, including setting up application forms, managing submissions, promoting the schemes, and corresponding with applicants and awardees.
Technical/Digital Skills (Essential)
- Confident using a wide range of digital platforms, with a proven ability to quickly learn and become proficient in new tools and technologies, even if previously unfamiliar.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint), professional email systems, and social media platforms
Desirable - High proficiency in the following tools:
- WordPress – website content management
- Video editing – creating and editing digital content

Desirable -
- Experience in a marketing or communications role, with proven ability to develop and deliver highly effective, audience-targeted messaging and campaigns.
Knowledge of Infant-Related Professions and Services (Essential)
- An understanding of the roles and work of infant-related practitioners in the UK, including health visitors, neonatal nurses and therapists, perinatal teams, and midwives, to ensure messaging and content produced is relevant and effective.
- A good knowledge of the Brazelton approach and the NBO and NBAS tools, including their purpose, impact on practice, and contribution to newborn care and the parent-infant relationship.
Desirable -
- Trained in the NBO, NBAS, or both, with experience applying them in practice with infants and families.
- Able to confidently communicate about the NBO and NBAS tools in the context of professional practice, service aims, and current developments or campaigns in the field.
Creative and Content Skills (Essential)
- Ability to produce written and visual content with careful attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all materials are professional and aligned with the organisation’s brand and style.
Desirable -
- Skills and experience in graphic design, creating visually engaging and effective content.
- Skills and experience in copywriting, producing clear, compelling, and impactful messaging.
