Accommodation Support Worker(Future Roots 2 Project)
Salary Banding: £28,050 per annum with potential to progress through salary band. Plus additional payment for overnight shifts on occasion. (£85 per night shift required / £50 per on call shift)

Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable young people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to young people in need of support.
Future Roots Supported accommodation is located in Welwyn Garden City. We are looking fo a Supported Accommodation Worker who will support the 5 Housemates to learn the skills they require to live independently, whilst ensuring the accommodation is a safe and homely environment to live in. The role will require a reasonable degree of flexibility, to respond to the needs of the house. This may include changes to working patterns or additional ‘sleep in’ nights’’ paid at an additional rate.’’support.

You will be creating and establishing a considerate, proactive and empowering environment where those living in the home take responsibility for themselves and their journey towards independent living. You will help co-ordinate and deliver a solution focused training package, that encourages the young person to take responsibility for all areas of their lives and promote healthy, successful outcomes. You will support them to achieve a successful move on in their life and you will be instrumental in ensuring that those living in the house accept and abide by the house rules.
The young people we support are amazing, inspiring and courageous. The challenges they face can test even the most resilient and they often lack the support needed to see them through difficult times; leaving them stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. What will you be doing?
- Manage a varied caseload with differing timescales and deadlines.
- Be involved in the screening and interview process of potential new Housemates.
- Build a professional and trusting relationship with the young people to enable to them to engage with the support and improve their situation and prospects.
- Provide 1-1 and group support and opportunities to learn identified life skills for independent living, using a range of tools and skills, including hyh’s training package. This work will include support around:
- Understanding their rights and responsibilities in relation to accommodation.
- Understanding how their choices and behaviour impacts their situation.
- Providing advice and support around wellbeing and health.
- Provide guidance and assistance in achieving further education, obtaining an apprenticeship, voluntary and paid employment.
- Financial support around areas such a rent, budgeting and income.
- Practical Life skills
- Provide advice and assistance with any other support needs that arise, referring and liaise with other agencies
- Providing group sessions on relevant topics.
- To address breaches of house rules and unacceptable behaviour, including issuing verbal and written warnings to young people in line with hyh policies and procedures.
- To identify any risk factors and ensure appropriate measures are in place
- Report any safeguarding concerns to your line-manager and refer as appropriate.
- Provide additional ‘sleep in nights’ as and when required.
- To work collaboratively with the other Accommodation Worker/hyh staff to ensure consistent, high-quality support is provided to all Housemates.
- Ensure all service administration tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
- To promote and facilitate Youth Engagement across the service.
- Engage effectively in multi-agency working, developing collaborative relationships and partnerships with relevant staff in a range of agencies to broker and co-ordinate support for young people.

- After probationary period has been completed, take part in the on-call rota.

Role Summary:
We are looking for a highly-skilled Philanthropy Manager to create impact through building and growing our high-value donor programme. You will effectively manage a portfolio of high-capacity individual donors and prospects, with the goal of securing five- and six-figure gifts and will proactively engage donors and prospects through strategic outreach, personalized stewardship, and compelling solicitations. Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of approximately 130 mid-level and major donors and prospects with the capacity to make 5- and low 6-figure annual gifts (bigger gifts would fall to UK Fundraising Director)
- Effectively complete the moves management process and engage a portfolio of donors through meaningful connections including phone calls, personalized emails and mailings, face-to-face meetings, and other communications.
- Create a plan for each donor to serve as the annual engagement plan, effectively and, in a timely manner, execute that plan to retain and upgrade donors, and document all activities in Moves Management and/or Tasks in the database.
- Prepare and personalize correspondence and fundraising materials, including donor stewardship and impact reports, funding proposals, briefing memos, and acknowledgment letters as appropriate.
- Provide recommendations and assist in executing effective strategies to practice moves management and increase fundraising results.
- Assist the UK Director with developing projects that will enhance the philanthropy programme of the Development Department and support developing strategy briefs and leading preparation meetings.
- Help produce cultivation and stewardship programs for prospects and mid-level and major donors.
- Organise events for major donors and prospects.
- Complete research on major donors and prospects within data compliance requirements.
- Complete administrative tasks for the philanthropy programme.
- Other duties as appropriate for this role.

Required Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant experience with exposure to major gift donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes preferred.
- A proven history of generating income in the £100,000’s and securing gifts of £25,000 or more.
- Demonstrated success in developing substantive donor relationships and in coordinating with senior management and program staff to execute donor engagement strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with both management and donors.

Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to support our Head of Finance and Operations with our HR, operations and admin functions including managing systems to efficiently run the business and achieve strategic objectives agreed by Black Thrive Board of Directors. This includes being the first point of contact for HR and office queries, leading the recruitment process, managing onboarding and offboarding, preparing employment contracts (Full-time and/or part-time, zero hours and/or fixed terms contracts), supporting the Finance Officer with payroll, checking and following right-to-work in the UK, administrating DBS checks and creating new company policies together with management. The ideal candidate will be a sound HR generalist who has a good understanding of UK employment laws, organisational governance and is comfortable working independently, have refined problem-solving skills, and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment.
Duties and responsibilities
1. The HR Manager assumes the primary responsibility for ensuring the organisations employment policies are fit for purpose and in line with any changes in employment legislation and for communicating the changes to the Directors and SLT where required.
2. Support the Head of Finance & Operations to manage HR and admin functions, including working with managers to prepare job descriptions, employment contracts, onboarding and offboarding.
3. Lead the recruitment process for new staff to source appropriate candidates for the organisation. This includes job advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, pre-employment checks and other pre-employment activities that are necessary.
4. Ensure the renewal of DBS checks for all staff is carried out on a periodic basis.
5. Process new joiners and leavers on the HR platforms and liaising with IT Support to ensure staff are set up or removed as needed.
6. Plan and coordinate induction for new employees.
7. Manage the employee performance reviews, and performance improvement plans in line with the organisations policies and any legislative requirements.
8. Work with the Head of Finance and Operations to implement and review the organisations reward principles and salary benchmarking exercise.
9. Support the Head of Finance and Operations to embed Black Thrive’s mission and values across the organisation, leading and driving the required culture change.
10. Review the existing policies and update or create new HR related policies in line with the current employment laws or governance requirements.
11. Develop, implement and review the employee development and training plan / strategy with the Head of Finance and Operations.
12. Develop and manage the annual training budget.
13. Ensure the provision of effective day-to-day office administration and support across the organisation.

You will lead on multi-agency collaboration, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and trauma-informed response for survivors. The role requires strong experience in casework management, staff supervision, and direct support to vulnerable individuals. A solid understanding of domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and its impact is essential, along with knowledge of relevant legislation including Criminal and Civil law, Housing, and Health & Safety.
