You’ll play a key part in communicating our mission to and inspiring our donors, and growing our unrestricted donations. The Public Interest News Foundation (PINF) is the UK’s first charity that exists to promote high-quality journalism. Last year, we launched an ambitious ten-year mission to regenerate local news in the UK. We believe that local news is a vital part of the fabric of local communities, drawing people together around shared facts and pride in place at a time of disinformation and division.

Purpose of the Role
The Programmes Officer will support the PINF team across our three workstreams: the Local News Fund; Local News Campaign; and Local News Futures programme.
· Through the Local News Fund, we work with grantmakers and social investors (including government-backed fund managers) to unlock new economic resources for local news across the UK.
· Through the Local News Campaign, we work with the BBC, big tech firms, central and local government, MPs, Peers and regulators to shape a positive enabling environment for local news across the UK.
· Through the Local News Futures programme, we work with academics, civil society organisations, journalism support organisations and local news providers to showcase models of local news with the most positive impact.
The Programmes Officer will provide support with events, research and campaigns across these workstreams, and will also provide support with our organisational functions, including communications, fundraising and governance.
By providing efficient and effective support to the team, the Programmes Officer will unlock new potential for PINF to deliver our charitable purpose.
Key Responsibilities
Events
· Support the Deputy Director with the successful delivery of the annual Local News Forum by:
o Maintaining a comprehensive and up to date project plan
o Contributing to the effective marketing of the event within PINF’s network of independent local news providers and stakeholders
o Managing ticket sales and maintaining an accurate database of invitees and participants
o Contributing to effective working relationships with partners and suppliers, including venues and sponsors

o Supporting budget administration for campaign activity, including tracking agreed expenditure and processing spending in line with approved budgets and under the oversight of the Campaigns & Communications Manager
o Supporting key campaign moments including parliamentary events, party conferences, roundtables and other online and offline events
o Providing logistical and administrative support for key campaign moments, including by maintaining participant and invitation lists, tracking RSVPs and preparing background information for colleagues
Communications

o Managing the ‘contact’ email inbox

The Sutton Trust delivers a suite of high-impact programmes in partnership with top universities and employers, supporting over 15,000 young people to access competitive courses, apprenticeships, and careers in the UK’s leading professions.
The University Access and Digital (UAD) Programmes Assistant will provide core operational support to the UAD team. The role will support programme set-up, student applications, digital content, events, data processes and student communications across Sutton Trust Online, UK Summer Schools, Teacher Champions and other programme activity. The postholder will support the smooth running of core programme processes, maintain accurate records, support clear communication with students and partners, and provide reliable administrative support to the wider team. Main duties
Events and programme delivery
Assisting in the delivery of online and in person events for students, parents/guardians, and teachers across UAD programmes. This will include organising logistics, providing technical support, tracking attendance, supporting follow up activity and encouraging student engagement.

We’re recruiting an Events Coordinator to help run our city-centre climate action hub, called Imagine Leeds. Imagine Leeds is an innovative venue where people come together to plan and take action on climate, nature and social justice. It is part of the Climate Action Leeds Network, which was established in 2020.
This post is part of a three-year funding package of £493,000 to support community climate action in Leeds. The funding comes from the National Lottery, Leeds Community Foundation, Bunzl, the University of Leeds and North Star Coffee Roasters. We are looking for a hard working person who is experienced in organising and delivering events, so we can run an engaging series of events on topics relating to sustainability and social justice.

Purpose of the role

Plan and deliver 2–3 integrated appeals each year, working closely with Marketing to shape warm, compelling messaging. Set achievable income targets, monitor performance and embed a test‑and‑learn approach so each appeal improves on the last.
Strengthen and expand our in‑memory giving, ensuring supporters feel supported and valued at what can be a deeply personal time. Introduce light‑touch legacy awareness in a sensitive, values‑led way to begin building longer‑term support.
Create clear, engaging supporter journeys that move people from a first gift to ongoing involvement. Use insight and data to understand behaviour, re‑engage lapsed donors where appropriate and identify opportunities to develop mid‑value giving.
Maintain oversight of individual giving performance, tracking income against target and identifying trends, risks and opportunities early. Contribute to forecasting and planning, bringing structure and confidence to this growing income stream.
Work closely with Relationship Fundraisers and the Partnerships Manager to ensure activity is joined up, supporting community donors to move into wider giving journeys and making the most of opportunities such as payroll giving. Play an active role in monthly income discussions and in shaping our wider growth plans.
Take a hands‑on approach to delivery, from drafting copy and shaping creative to managing data selections and supporter communications. As this is a developing income stream, you’ll be comfortable building processes, testing new ideas and driving activity forward with initiative and independence.
Work with our Engagement team to strengthen digital fundraising, ensuring donation pages, email journeys and social content support donor recruitment and retention.

Salary: £36,700-£40,000 FTE depending on experience, pro rata to £22,000-£24,000
Hours: 0.6 FTE (3 days/21 hours per week). Office hours are 10am - 6pm with occasional evenings and weekends. Flexible working opportunities are available.
Who are The Outrunners?
The Outrunners are a running and movement charity based in Hackney, on a mission to empower young people through movement. Backed by an incredible crew of volunteers and partner brands like Nike and Moju, we help young people in East London to build confidence, wellbeing, health and leadership skills.
We deliver free, fun, sociable, youth‑led running and movement sessions for 8–18 year olds every week - during term time and holidays. But we’re about more than just running. We create space for young people to explore creativity and culture, go on exciting trips, access wraparound wellbeing support, and develop the skills and opportunities they need to shape the futures they want.
Over the past five years, we’ve supported thousands of young people and helped push greater diversity within the running world.

Our achievements
We’re a small charity but we pack a mighty punch. Our income has grown year-on-year since we became a charity 6 years ago - allowing us to expand our core team and move into office premises large enough to incorporate a Youth Hub. Last year we worked with over 1,150 young people through our school and communities programs, and this year we’re looking to expand our work even further!
To give you a sense of the kinds of work that we do, over the last year we have:
Hosted a free Girls’ Festival for 100+ ethnically diverse young girls, allowing them to try running sessions, creative classes and yoga experiences in a safe and empowering environment.
Hosted free training academies for ethnically diverse women and young people aged 16-21 to train for their very first half or full marathons! We offered physical, emotional and logistical support throughout their training journey and cheered on every single one of them as they ran either the Hackney Half or the London Marathon under the Outrunners name. Since programme launch, we have worked with over 250 people in our Academies.
Took diverse groups of young people to races and events, such as Hackney School run and Black to the Trails.
Offered personalised mentoring to several of our young people who were struggling with school or life.
Expanded the career horizons of young people by offering them a free work experience opportunity with our partner brands.
What do we want?
We are seeking an experienced fundraiser for a strategic and hands-on role who loves working in a small, ambitious charity and wants to help shape the next stage of growth at The Outrunners (current annual income circa £350k).
Reporting to the CEO, you will lead on income generation, with a primary focus on trusts and foundations, while growing a more diverse and sustainable income mix through corporate partnerships, community fundraising and individual giving.
You will translate the lived experiences, energy and impact of our young people and programmes into compelling funding propositions. You’ll support the CEO to build genuine, long‑term relationships with funders and partners who believe in movement, equity and opportunity for young people - and who want to be part of something fresh, joyful and youth‑led.

5+ years’ experience in fundraising, ideally within a small or growing charity.
Proven success securing income from trusts and foundations, including prospect research, high‑quality bid writing and effective funder stewardship.
Strong understanding of what drives successful grant applications, from alignment and evidence to storytelling and relationships.
Experience developing or contributing to diversified income streams, such as corporate partnerships, community fundraising or individual giving.
Ability to manage income pipelines and use systems/CRMs to track fundraising activity and performance.
Sound understanding of fundraising regulation and best practice.
Confident relationship‑builder with experience engaging funders, partners or senior stakeholders.
