Background Information and Purpose of Post
Humanity & Inclusion is aiming for a step-change in our private fundraising and visibility in the UK. Securing quality media coverage and strengthening brand recognition are central to this. Alongside working with journalists, we are building our media presence through partnerships and developing our in-house content production.
The main purpose of the post is to:
· Focus on the delivery of HI UK's media and communications strategy, supporting fundraising and brand awareness objectives.
· Secure high-quality coverage in target media through proactive story development, pitching and spokesperson support.
· Produce engaging digital and print content for UK audiences.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Media relations
· Work alongside the Media and Communications Manager to develop and deliver a targeted media and communications strategy that supports fundraising and brand awareness goals.
· Build and maintain relationships with UK and international journalists and producers.
· Proactively identify and pitch story and interview opportunities to secure coverage.
· Draft and distribute press releases, statements and reactive lines, including during breaking news and emergencies.
· Prepare and brief spokespeople for media opportunities and coordinate interviews.
· Facilitate media visits to overseas programmes in coordination with HI Federation and country offices and accompany journalists on visits where required.
· Contribute to applications and pitches for media fundraising appeals and partnerships.
· Work closely with communications colleagues across the HI Federation to amplify key messages and publications and adapt international content for UK media and audiences.
Content production
· Ensure that HI UK's website is well maintained and that static webpages are up to date.
· Regularly create and publish engaging news and stories on the website and social media channels.
· Develop in-house digital content (including blogs, photo stories, infographics and video) for UK audiences
· Lead on the design, layout and copy of HI UK's printed materials, using Adobe InDesign to produce professional, branded assets such as the annual report, banners and leaflets.
· Ensure that all communications reflect HI’s values and standards on consent, safeguarding, and ethical, inclusive storytelling.
Communications
· Actively contribute to HI UK's communications planning and editorial calendar.
· Work collaboratively across HI UK to increase consistency and quality of communications on HI's brand, activities and key campaigns.
· Coordinate with the private fundraising team to maximise HI UK’s brand impact and ensure that communications content strengthens supporter engagement.
· Develop media and communications activities to complement fundraising campaigns, particularly emergency appeals.
· Ensure consistent recognition of HI UK’s key funders and partners across communication channels and branded materials.

Job purpose

DigiDAD registration growth is led by the DigiDAD Engagement Officer and wider team, with the Business Development Manager contributing through referrals identified in the course of other work.
Alongside these targets, NEYDL currently holds commissioned service contracts with several local authorities: Durham, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead. A key priority for the Business Development Manager will be to maintain and strengthen these relationships, ensuring contracts are renewed and the value of our work to each commissioner is clearly evidenced. We are seeking an experienced and collaborative professional to support the delivery of the Foundation’s Advocacy and Creative Programme. They will contribute to flagship initiatives, including the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and adda, our online literary magazine. The postholder will also deliver creative outputs linked to advocacy priorities, and other high-profile activities that engage civil society, creative practitioners and partners from across the Commonwealth.

As Senior Programme Officer, you will play a key role in delivering creative projects and initiatives, managing relationships with writers, artists and partners, and ensuring the effective coordination of programme activities. Working closely with colleagues across the Foundation, you will contribute creative perspectives to advocacy platforms and help strengthen engagement with creative communities across the Commonwealth.

Context of role:
The Outreach Officer plays a key role in raising awareness of services, strengthening community
partnerships and supporting the delivery of high-quality bereavement support activities across the
region. The postholder will engage with local networks, coordinate events, and support volunteers
while ensuring effective monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
Support Service:
1. Event Coordination and Delivery
1.1: Coordinate and deliver regular community engagement activities, including; coffee mornings and
support events.
1.2: Organise and facilitate regular wellbeing and social activities, such as; walks or group sessions.
1.3: Represent the organisation at regional events, including supporting fundraising and CYP teams
when required.
1.4: Co-lead on bookings and coordination of Ty Uchaf, our respite house.
2. Awareness, Training and Engagement
2.1: Lead on regional awareness training delivery for non-emergency services and community-based
organisations.
2.2: Deliver additional 2wish training programmes as required, including Children & Young People
(CYP) and Bereavement in workplace support training.
2.3: Lead awareness and advocacy activities with local ‘support champions’, including professionals
within non-emergency services.
3. Partnership and Network Development
3.1: Actively engage with local bereavement networks through attendance at meetings, hosting
information stands and building strong professional relationships across the region.
3.2: Develop and maintain effective links with community partners to expand reach and awareness of
services.
4. Volunteer Support
4.1: Act as a key local contact for volunteers.
4.2: Support the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers in collaboration with the wider
team.
5. Administration, Monitoring and Reporting
5.1: Maintain and take ownership of relevant systems and spreadsheets, including those used for:
