Through world-leading research, trusted health information and public engagement, we empower people to make informed lifestyle choices to reduce their cancer risk.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Events Fundraising Assistant to help deliver our growing programme of challenge events and community fundraising activities on a fixed-term contract to May 2027. Supporting the Events, Community and Digital Fundraising Manager, you will play an important role in delivering an excellent experience for our supporters from the moment they register through to event day and beyond. Medact is looking for an experienced campaigner and organiser to lead our work advocating for a justice-centred approach to securitisation and peace work.
Background
Medact organises with the health community to win a world in which everyone can truly achieve and exercise their human right to health. We cover some of the most pressing national and global threats to health and wellbeing including institutional racism; climate change; human rights abuses; violent conflict; and rising inequality. We’re a member-led organisation, and our members are made up of a range of people who work in health including nurses, doctors, midwives, and clinical researchers.
We take an organising-centred approach to our work. We build community power by working in solidarity with health workers and the communities experiencing harm from the unjust systems we challenge. We run national campaigns, use research to expose injustice, and we support local organising groups across the country who lead most of our work.
About the role
The Transforming Peace & Security Campaigner will lead Medact’s campaigning for healthcare spaces which truly centre health and health justice, not surveillance, profiling and policing, in addition to providing ongoing strategic support to members organising against war and nuclear threat.
This role will lead on our strategic priority area of Ending State Violence. The campaigner will implement campaign strategy focused on targeted organising to build coalitions and solidarity with marginalised communities, continuing our campaign against the Prevent duty in health, and supporting our Medact Abolitionist Approaches to Health Group. They’ll also work with our established Nuclear Weapons group to promote disarmament and encourage investment in nonviolent responses to conflict. The role involves maintaining and deepening existing partnerships with external organisations, grassroots groups and institutions.
About you
This isn’t an entry-level role but you don’t need to have had a job in an NGO before or be a professional campaigner to be right for it. You might have worked with your local community to campaign on a social justice or health issue that you care about. Or you might be a healthcare worker who has seen the impact of securitisation on your patients and wants to challenge the encroachment of policing and profiling. You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, academics, partner organisations, and community groups alike. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment campaigning and an eye for a good media story and the know-how to get it out into the world.

About the roles
Last year we launched our most ambitious strategy yet - Change Happens Now. To deliver on its promise, we have identified a phased and prioritised pipeline of cross-cutting strategic programmes that will move us closer to a future where, by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer lives - and is supported to live well.
We’re now looking for 2 Strategic Programme Leads to help deliver our strategy. You’ll work in our Strategy, Planning & Innovation (SPI) team, which is responsible for strategic change programmes, planning, innovation and involvement.
Both posts share the same job description and grade and will work flexibly across SPI’s full portfolio. However, each role has a distinct focus area and differs in contract type:
While each role has a primary focus area, we expect both post-holders to be flexible and adaptable. Priorities change, and you'll need to be equally comfortable working across specialisms, seeing the focus areas as a starting point which will evolve with organisational priorities.
About you
Whilst both roles are the same, given the specialisms, for role 1, we're particularly interested in candidates with experience of external connectivity across the UK health system landscape and a working knowledge of NHS structures, integrated care systems, clinical pathways and health inequalities. For role 2, we're particularly interested in candidates with experience of scaled engagement work, such as leading public engagement, support or community programmes.
For both roles, you’ll be able to get into the detail when it matters, including the design and sequencing of the programme itself. On some programmes you'll be the strategic lead, owning the work from start to finish and being the trusted strategic advisor to expert leaders. On others you'll partner an expert team, bringing the wider organisation in behind their delivery and working through the barriers that hold progress back.
You'll be confident leading, designing and running pilots and prototypes, with clear measures of success and an evidence-led approach to learning and improvement, ensuring you keep lived experience of breast cancer at the heart of your work. You'll be comfortable with ambiguity, making progress at pace without losing rigour, and you'll bring an innovation mindset, creating the conditions, methods and permission for teams to test, scale and embed new ways of working.
Most importantly, you'll be able to be flexible in your workload, and motivated by the chance to lead change in an organisation that wants to be brave, determined and ambitious - one that backs innovation, challenges the status quo when it needs to, and is willing to commit to the big, multi-year work that real impact requires.

Why join us?
This isn’t your typical fundraising support role.
Working alongside our experienced fundraising consultants, you’ll gain hands-on experience across fundraising campaigns, client relationships, business development, marketing, project management, CRM and AI-powered ways of working.
As Pebblebeach grows, we hope you will too. We’ll support your development through mentoring, practical experience and a targeted training, giving you the opportunity to build a career in fundraising.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in supporting our team and our charity clients by:

· Supporting new business, proposals and client relationships.
· Delivering marketing activity and communications.
· Managing our HubSpot CRM and keeping data accurate.
· Researching fundraising opportunities and preparing presentations.
· Helping improve our systems, processes and use of AI.
No two weeks are the same - we are constantly learning, innovating and adapting - and that’s how we like it!
Who we’re looking for
You’ll probably have around 6–12 months’ experience in fundraising, marketing, customer service, client services, sales, administration or another office-based role.
More importantly, you’ll be someone who is:
· Curious, organised and eager to learn.
· Great with people and a confident communicator.
· Happy juggling different projects.
· Passionate about helping charities succeed.
· Looking for a long-term career where you can grow.
What you’ll get
· Mentoring from experienced fundraising professionals.
· Exposure to every part of a fundraising consultancy.
· A targeted training and development.
· Hybrid working from our Brighton office.
· A genuinely supportive, collaborative team.
· Great coffee, too many biscuits and the occasional visit from our office dogs.
A note about applying
As a people-centred business, we believe recruitment should be personal.
We won’t use AI to screen or shortlist applications—every application will be read by a real person.
In return, we’d love you to write your application yourself rather than relying on AI. We’re much more interested in hearing your voice, understanding what motivates you and getting a sense of who you are than reading something perfectly polished.
If you’re invited to interview, you’ll meet people who genuinely care about people, and we’ll communicate with every candidate we interview throughout the process.
