The Head of Operations will provide strategic leadership and oversight of HEY Smile Foundation’s governance arrangements, organisational systems and infrastructure, human resources and culture, and buildings and facilities. The role will ensure Smile has the people, processes, controls and resources to deliver its purpose reliably and respond confidently to future opportunities. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, the postholder will translate organisational strategy into a clear operational plan, strengthen accountability and lead improvements across the charity. They will provide the CEO and trustees with timely information, assurance and practical recommendations on operational performance, capacity and risk.
This is a senior leadership role combining strategic oversight with the ability to secure delivery through colleagues, managers and specialist providers. The postholder will establish clear responsibilities, standards and reporting, intervening directly where necessary and building capacity so that routine delivery does not depend on the CEO.

You’ll also need to have a strong aptitude for developing relationships with a range of stakeholders ensuring you uphold high standards of communication and adapt your style for different audiences. The nature of this role will also require you to demonstrate adaptability, resilience and the ability to cope with some uncertainty.
This position would suit you if you’re looking to develop your experience in the education or charity sectors. Existing experience of working with young people and/or project management in a charity or education setting would be an asset. Role Summary
The new KidsCan Connect programme aims to create moments of connection for children experiencing cancer and their families. The main areas of activity will be:
Community Programme - The Community Programme will provide accessible, inclusive activities for children, young people, and their families. The focus is on delivering a varied, geographically distributed calendar of events which will support families to develop networks of others with lived experience.
Hospital Activity Programme - The Hospital Activity Programme aims to enhance the inpatient experience through structured, co-created activities that support wellbeing and creativity. Starting at Manchester Children’s Hospital, and developed with NHS Staff, this programme will aim to make children and families’ time on the wards more pleasant.
Future flagship event - There are plans for a flagship event in the future (2027 onwards), which would form a core component of the programme. The Flagship Event is envisioned as a multi day, campus based gathering that brings families together for celebration, learning, creativity, and support.
The KidsCan Connect Lead will work closely with the Charity Manager in order to establish this exciting programme, organise and run activities and to create new ways to support young people and their families. Note that some of the activities and events will run in evenings and at weekends which will require flexible working.

Seeking an enthusiastic, proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children in the North East.
We are delighted to share this role on behalf of Bradford Grammar School who we at the Royal National Children's Springboard Foundation (RNCSF) are working alongside. We are seeking a term time only, Regional Coordinator to support the relationship between RNCSF and local schools in the North East to secure independent day and boarding school bursary placements and access to partnership activities for care experienced children (CEVC). The post holder will be involved in engaging school stakeholders by attracting suitable school partners and being a powerful advocate for the programme.
The successful candidate will need to use their excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders in Local Authorities and schools, ensuring the continued success of the “Broadening Educational Pathways” programme – a Department for Education programme delivered by RNCSF. As you will be responsible for all applications in your region it is also essential that you are organised and efficient, with superb time management skills.
You will be joining a dynamic, vibrant team of 8 Regional Coordinators who operate all over the country but who work closely together, via Teams, to support CEVC into bursary places in independent day and boarding schools. Our regional coordinators work out of a local host school (with some remote working possible). This position will be based at Bradford Grammar School. The role is for 2 days per week, term time only. You will need to be available for up to 10 ‘in person’ days, and some travel may be required for this (for which you will be reimbursed). You will report into the Head of Bursary Activity as part of the Programmes Team at RNCSF.
