We are seeking an experienced Recruitment and Payroll professional with a strong understanding of UK employment law, payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and HR best practice. The successful candidate will have proven experience managing end to end recruitment and payroll processes, always ensuring compliance and accuracy. Community-led research sits at the heart of how High Trees works. The role:
This role is responsible for managing and overseeing the in-house payroll and pension functions at the Globe. The role ensures that there is a compliant, accurate and timely payroll for approximately 375 permanent employees, and a further 400 variable workforce of casual, PAYE and non-PAYE workers via monthly and weekly payrolls across the year. Oversight and account management of four pension schemes (NOW pensions, Aviva, Equity, and Musicians Union) is also a key part of this role. The Payroll Manager works with Payroll Assistant and other key stakeholders across departments to create automated process, ensure appropriate controls are in place, problem solve payroll and pension queries, and to make sure our systems are working for the organisation.
The Payroll Manager is responsible for preparing payroll outputs and reports for review; ensuring that final authorisation, sign-off and release of payroll payments are forwarded timely to senior members of the Finance and People & Culture teams, in line with agreed controls and delegated authorities. The Payroll Manager escalates exceptions, narrative for variances, policy deviations and high-risk items for decision and approval.

We are looking for an exceptional, highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time Youth Worker (Youth Voice), supporting our mission to enable young people who are homeless, facing homelessness or unsafe to achieve independence and positive futures.

Centre and Volunteer Management
You must be able to deal professionally with enquiries made by community members, partner agencies and other community organisations either in person, by phone, by e-mail or by other means with regard to use of the Centre and its facilities including, with other staff, taking room bookings including payments and issuing of receipts and to ensure that an accurate bookings diary is maintained.Working with key holders to ensure that arrangements are in place for opening and closing the centre and for preparing the Centre for use. Working with our cleaner to ensure the Centre is clean and well maintained.. Volunteers are very important and we would need you to support the recruitment, selection and training of new volunteers and support current volunteers.
You would need to ensure that all policies and procedures are up to date, implemented and followed and to train and delegate the day to day responsibility for health and safety to staff and volunteers as appropriate.
Fundraising and Financial Management
We would support you to identify funding sources and streams and, with the agreement of the Treasurer, to draft funding bids to secure funding for current and new activities and projects, as well as ongoing core/revenue/capital costs. You would be responsible for properly maintaining the Centre’s monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure data can be collected and collated to provide robust evidence to support funding bids, preparing reports requested by funders [e.g. progress reports, end of grant reports] and to work with the trustees to review funding needs and to agree fundraising targets and plans. Also you would work with volunteers and staff to plan fundraising activities and events to generate unrestricted funding to support Centre running costs and activities and work with the Treasurer to manage the Centre’s finances, including responsibility for: Payments and receipts; Day to day small scale expenditure; Petty cash; Invoices; Records of income and expenditure; Volunteer and other expenses; Spending in relation to specific grants [restricted funding]. Your support would help the Treasurer with the production of financial reports for Trustees.
Partnership Working
We would want you to establish, maintain and grow relationships with local voluntary and statutory sector partner organisations and agencies near us, attend network and partnership meetings as agreed with the Treasurer., identify opportunities for collaborative approaches and joint funding bids with relevant partners and ensure partnership agreements are in place for funded work

At St John’s Mansions in Islington, you’ll provide a calm, consistent and reassuring presence throughout the night, helping to make sure clients feel safe, respected and supported in their home. As a Night Support Assistant, you’ll take responsibility for the safe and secure running of the service during your shift. We have two Night Support Assistant opportunities available: one working four nights per week, Monday to Thursday, and one working three nights per week, Friday to Sunday, night shifts are 10pm - 08.15am. Whichever pattern you join, you’ll be part of the wider St John’s Mansions team, with regular supervision, training and opportunities to continue developing your knowledge and practice.
