Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday on a rota varying between 08:00 - 21:00. About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Service Manager to join our service based in Romford . Our service is a Independent Approved Premises commissioned by Criminal Justice Service (IAP) based in Havering. You will support residents recently released from prison in a residential setting, helping them reintegrate into the community. In this role, you will support in leading the team by providing overall leadership to the service and line management responsibilities to support, enable, and empower your team to deliver high quality support to our residents.
You will also support some day-to-day team responsibilities, including providing tailored support directly to residents. As a Manager, you will help drive service outcomes in line with contractual requirements, ensuring quality and consistency within a trauma‑ and psychologically informed environment. You will work collaboratively with the team, wider services, and external partners to ensure the service runs smoothly. We’re looking for a solution‑focused individual with experience in similar service environments, who can create a safe space for individuals to learn and grow, while continuing to embed trauma‑informed and psychologically informed practice that puts people and communities at the forefront. The On Demand Shift Manager provides operational leadership, clinical oversight and shift coordination for the On Demand bereavement support services which operate Mondays through Fridays 8am to 8pm. The role ensures that children, young people, and adults receive timely, safe and compassionate responses to bereavement needs through digital and on-demand channels.
In addition to line managing the On Demand Bereavement Specialists, the post holder also works on shift as part of the delivery rota to support the team directly, provide real-time guidance, and covers frontline services gaps. This blended role combines hands-on leadership, active service participation, and quality assurance, promoting excellent clinical standards, safeguarding practice, and a culture of learning and care. The post holder will work closely with the Head of On Demand Services to ensure that On Demand Services remain responsive, trauma-informed and aligned with best practice and organisational priorities.
Main Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
· Lead and coordinate daily On Demand service operations to ensure timely and effective response to live support requests
· Working closely with the other On Demand Shift Managers, manage team rotas, shift allocations, and cover arrangements to maintain consistent staffing and service continuity
· Provide real-time oversight during active service hours, offering guidance on case complexity, prioritisation and risk management

Debt Justice is recruiting a Community Organiser to take forward our organising and campaign work in East and South London. This role plays a key part in the campaign to end the UK’s household debt crisis.
The UK is in the grip of a household debt crisis, driven by stagnating incomes, cuts to welfare and a cost of living crisis that forces millions of people into debt to pay for essentials. Over 10 million people are overindebted, with energy bills, council tax arrears and credit card debt approaching record highs. In London this problem is particularly acute, more than half of low-income Londoners are grappling with arrears according to Joseph Rowntree Foundation research. Debt also functions as a key driver of racialised health inequality and injustice. Over-indebtedness affects 28% of Londoners of Black African origin, 24% of Black Caribbean origin, and 22% of Pakistani or Bangladeshi origin.
We believe that campaigns to tackle this injustice should be led by people with direct experience of the problem, that’s why we developed a community organising programme as a core part of our household debt work. Our organisers have supported community based campaign groups made up people with lived experience of debt. From Glasgow to Manchester, these groups campaign for policy changes to bring down over-indebtedness and end the stigma and harmful treatment of people experiencing high levels of debt.
This role will support the development of a new group in South London working with people from global majority communities including black and brown communities – in Lambeth or Southwark, and an existing group in East London based in Tower Hamlets focusing on tackling the rise in council tax debt and bailiff use to collect these debts.
Reporting into our Lead Organiser, this role will play a key part in our household debt campaign; bringing together people from global majority communities that are disproportionately affected to challenge over-indebtedness and bailiff use at a local level and as part of our national and regional campaigns. You will support participants to demand and win policy change to end the use of bailiffs for council tax debt collection.
We recognise that community organising skills are often developed outside of formal roles. If you have experience in organising, campaigns, activism, mutual aid, or informal leadership in your community, we strongly encourage you to apply – even if you have not held a community organiser job title before.

We are seeking an experienced paralegal, or trainee solicitor to fill the post Employment Law Caseworker. As an experienced employment law practitioner or aspirational trainee solicitor (England and Wales), you will be required to provide professional legal advice on employment law matters to members.
PCS will provide fully funded accredited training with 1 day a week release. With supervision by a qualified solicitor to enable you to pass your SQE examinations within 2 years, whilst gaining the required qualifying work experience through your day-to-day role.
