Job Summary 

Z House is an exciting project run by Caring in Bristol, opening in July 2024. It provides emergency short-term accommodation for 18 – 25-year-olds in housing crisis, which is supplemented by daytime support to help people move on to sustainable and appropriate accommodation.

Based in St Pauls, Z house fosters a safe and supportive environment where 4 young people can stay in the Night Shelter at a time until they obtain suitable accommodation.This Role is for 4 Nights a Week, Monday to Thursday, involving a mix of both Waking and Sleep-in hours.

Sometimes working alongside a volunteer, you will be responsible for providing a safe space, listening ear and support for young people using the service. 

The role involves starting at 20:30, supporting our young people to settle for the evening before your sleep-in shift from 11:30pm until 07:30 am, in the morning you’ll support the young people and our volunteers with Breakfast and room changeover for the day, finishing your shift at 08.30am.

Key responsibilities 

Housing management 

• Sign up and induct young people arriving outside of normal working hours

• Ensure the health, safety and security of the building, colleagues, residents, and visitors; taking reasonable care to protect yourself and all other persons, complying with health and safety legislation and procedures; seek guidance as necessary and highlight any significant deficiencies to a senior colleague 

• Carry out any required health and safety, housing management, risk management, etc. monitoring, keeping accurate and complete records throughout.

• Identify and report defects in the buildings, furniture, and equipment to promote a safe working environment in line with Health and Safety, following relevant procedures to remedy all defects. 

• Contribute to the upkeep of services, ensuring young people’s rooms, communal and colleague areas are well maintained, serviced, safe and clean; maintain accurate and complete records. Supporting Young People

• Assisting Young people to achieve positive outcomes including stated support plan goals, liaising with internal and external colleagues/organisations as required.

• Respond to requests and issues from young people, continually assessing housing needs and risks.

• Provide support and guidance for young people as appropriate

• Promote the participation and involvement of young people within and outside the organisation to elevate users’ voice in the delivery of the Z House service.

• Ensure all relevant records (including case-notes, safeguarding, incident, and other logs) are completed for all shifts.

Volunteer support 

• To support and provide guidance to volunteers who will sometimes partner you on shift 

• To be the point of contact for volunteers if they need to raise any concerns

• You will be one part of a two-person Night Support Team, so communication and detailed recording of information is necessary for the team to deliver a high level of support to young people safely and effectively 

• Ensure all shift tasks and processes are completed satisfactorily, including a comprehensive handover for the Z House Coordinator.

• Safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk, working within Caring in Bristol’s safeguarding policies, Southwest Child Protection Procedures, and local procedures for safeguarding adults at risk.

• Carry out day-to-day administrative functions to ensure that all records and files are maintained and stored securely in line with the Data Protection legislation.

The Pepper Foundation is a local charity funding children’s hospice care at home, specialised play and family days for children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. 

The Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser will be joining Pepper at an exciting time as we launch our new three-year fundraising strategy. Backed by committed investment and with full Board approval, we are delighted to be growing the charity to deliver sustainable income that directly supports local children and families with hospice care in the comfort of their own homes.

Working closely with the Head of Trusts & Foundations, you will play a pivotal role in increasing income from trusts and foundations by developing and managing a strong pipeline of funders, securing new grants, and building long-term relationships that lead to increased and multi-year support. You will research and prepare compelling applications to both new and existing funders, alongside producing timely, engaging reports that clearly demonstrate impact.

This role requires a highly organised and motivated individual with a passion for writing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver exceptional cultivation, stewardship and relationship management of trusts and foundations aligned with our mission.

Your work will directly support hospice at home care, specialist play services, and meaningful family days out for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions – making a tangible difference to families during the most difficult of times.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week working from home – applicants must live within Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire (or surrounding counties)

Salary: £19,800 per annum for 22.5 hours per week (£33,000 FTE per annum)

Key requirements:

• Work with the Head of Trusts & Foundations to agreed income targets and growth.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of small and medium trusts and foundations (giving up to £10,000).
• Produce high-quality, tailored applications to prospective funders aligned with agreed criteria.

we are looking for an Events Fundraising Coordinator to join the Mungo’s Community and Events team. This new post will play a vital role in managing, developing and growing our events fundraising area income stream. 

The Events Fundraising Coordinator will be responsible for managing and developing the event fundraising portfolio for St Mungo’s on a national scale, including large scale, virtual, bespoke challenge, third party and individual events. You will also lead on innovation and new projects with the aim of increasing our profile and income, to support our aim to end rough sleeping, and continue providing support to people experiencing homelessness. Key responsibilities will include:

• Design and develop events fundraising programme, supporting the current portfolio and leading on new activities.
• Recruit, steward and grow our event fundraisers and improve retention with engaging comms and increased donor initiatives.
• Lead the development and implementation of a range of fundraising activities, whilst nurturing current supporter relationships and developing new fundraising opportunities.
• Working closely with the marketing and digital fundraising team to promote and raise the profile for our events.
• Oversee end to end project management, and challenge event delivery, solving problems along the way.
• Growing a strong understanding of our donor base and using this knowledge to create, build and nurture new fundraising activities.

Where you’ll be working

In this role you will work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in London. Travel across London and regions in the South of England is also required.

This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for hybrid working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations. 

Due to the nature of the role, some evening and weekends will also be required to oversee relevant events. Out of hours work will be offered back in the form of time off in lieu.

While our Central Office is currently based in Tower Hill, London we plan to relocate in the summer of 2026 to a new space in Farringdon, London.

We are looking for someone with experience in events, community or individual giving fundraising, with a proven ability to deliver excellent customer service and positive donor journeys. Experience in volunteering, marketing or project management would also be beneficial.

Bedford Parent Power utilises the community organising-based model first created by King’s College London and Citizens UK with South London Parent Power, which has now grown into a movement of 16 Parent Power chapters across the UK. Parent Power supports parents and carers to develop skills in community organising and advice and guidance on accessing higher education, empowering them to make change to support their children’s future and ensure that they have a fair chance in education and their future careers.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide expert advice on HR policies, employee relations, performance, and absence management.

• Maintain and update our HR Information System (HRIS), payroll documents, and reporting dashboards.

This role will focus on delivering the Pride in Place: Listening to Leadership programme across Peterborough. The Community Organiser will support the delivery of a 12-month programme that moves from listening → action → leadership, building long-term community power and neighbourhood governance.  The role combines core community organising practice with structured delivery of engagement, analysis, and leadership development.

Community Organising

Through our theory of social change, called community organising, we train thousands of everyday people to lead change in their communities, equipping them with the skills to hold politicians and other powerholders to account. We are made up of 500+ member organisations in powerful alliances throughout the UK. Our members include schools, universities, faith groups, parents’ groups, health practices, charities, trade unions and other civil society organisations.

Purpose

At Citizens UK, our organisers and project staff work within communities to develop leaders, strengthen organisations, campaign for change and organise across difference. There are various project roles and operational, communication, finance and HR roles that support the organisation and project staff and organisers to deliver on this mission and work. Main Responsibilities

As a Pride in Place Community Organiser with Peterborough Citizens, you will use the Citizens UK method to build relationships across civic institutions—such as schools, faith groups, and community organisations—to develop local leaders and strengthen their collective power. You will lead a broad listening campaign to surface shared concerns, support communities to identify priorities, and co-create strategies that turn those issues into winnable campaigns, including engaging decision-makers and organising public actions. Grounded in the belief that local people can shape their neighbourhoods, you will help deliver tangible “you said, we did” outcomes, build sustainable structures for resident voice and accountability, and contribute to the wider Pride in Place initiative by embedding long-term community leadership and change.

About Chapter One 

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in thirteen areas/regions of the UK and will support over 4,000 children in 2026-27.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (P2-4) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability. 

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading. About the Role

Chapter One is seeking a Scotland Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year. 

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work some additional hours during busy autumn weeks, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers.

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms. This will include technical configuration/troubleshooting of mobile internet hotspots with IT team support.

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up.

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom.

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and effectively communicate this to others as needed.

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles.

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed.  

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise.

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends.

• Create regular data summaries for all participating classrooms.

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools.

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required.

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary. This may include opportunities for Chapter One children to visit the office of the volunteers.

• Liaison with corporate partners as required.

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team.

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and help find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme. 

We are looking for applicants with the following essential qualities:

• Highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. 

• Proven track record of working at a senior level in education, project management or a related field. 

• Proven strength in both written and verbal communication. 

• Highly IT literate, with excellent computer skills, able to troubleshoot software and technical  hardware issues, adept with Google suite and Microsoft Teams.

• Ability to manipulate and analyse data to draw useful conclusions to improve programme delivery.

• Proven ability to work independently. 

• Self-starter and quick learner.

• Ability to adapt and embrace a changing environment. 

• Ability to drive and access to a car for work purposes.

Ideally, applicants will also have the following desirable qualities:

• Two years of teaching/education experience with primary age children.

• University degree.

• Experience in building strong relationships with key target journalists.
