You will also have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a keen eye for connecting philanthropic organisations to the right projects to develop meaningful relationships, and the skills to deliver high-quality, detailed bids to further our strategic objectives.
We're particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience working in one or more of the following areas: online safety, tech accountability, suicide prevention, education or children’s mental health.

About Better Society Capital (BSC):
Better Society Capital (BSC) is the UK's leading social impact-led investor. Our mission is to grow the amount of money invested in tackling social issues and inequalities in the UK; we do this by investing ourselves and enabling others to invest for impact too.
Since 2012, we have helped grow the UK's social impact investment market thirteen-fold, to more than £11 billion, proving that impact investing can scale when social outcomes and investment opportunity are genuinely aligned. We have committed more than £1 billion of our own capital to social impact investments and today hold a live portfolio of over 100 across the UK, primarily made into funds spanning early-stage and mature positions, all working towards lasting impact for the people and communities they serve.
We're now delivering our 2026–2030 strategy: mobilising £20–30 billion in capital to positively impact 15–20 million lives across the UK over the next decade. We're focusing our expertise and capital on four challenge areas: housing, economic opportunity, climate and energy, and health. These have been chosen because each combines urgent social need, proven investment models and a clear role for BSC to play.
This is BSC's next chapter. Building on everything we've proven since 2012, we're scaling with greater ambition and sharper focus, and looking for people who want to help shape how we get there.
The Opportunity:
We are recruiting an Investment Manager – Portfolio to take a leading role in the delivery of our existing portfolio including on special situations and exits.
You will take ownership of performance and manager relationships across a broad portfolio of social impact investments. You will build relationships with senior leaders at our fund managers and take responsibility for how these investments perform against their financial, social impact and systems change goals. You will also oversee several treasury holdings, held for financial return and sustainable outcomes, that support how we manage liquidity.
Across the wider social impact investment portfolio, you will take a leading role in its most demanding and consequential moments: acting as our specialist resource for complex special situations and exits, working alongside asset class teams to protect and recover financial value and impact, and shaping how BSC triages, manages and learns from these situations.
This is an opportunity to build a distinctive skillset across every asset class in which we invest, from portfolio management and manager relationships to restructuring, workouts and complex negotiation, developing cross-asset-class judgement that few comparable roles offer. We will create opportunities for you to contribute to new investments and strategic projects as our 2026–2030 strategy takes shape.
Our excellence in impact investing practice is recognised externally. In 2025 and 2026, BSC was placed on the BlueMark Global Practice Leaderboard after ranking in the top quartile across all 8 dimensions of the Operating Principles for Impact Management. You will help carry that standard forward.
We invest in our people as seriously as we invest our portfolio. You will accelerate your growth through hands-on experience, tailored training and collaboration with sector-leading specialists as well as gaining direct exposure to our Investment Committee and senior leadership.
What you will do:
Lead the performance management and manager relationships for a portfolio of social impact and treasury investments
Take the lead on special situations and exits
Contribute to the management of our multi-asset portfolio
Help lead the next phase of our market-leading impact investment approach

ABOUT GLOBAL CANOPY
Global Canopy is a data-driven not for profit delivering real transparency and accountability for market impacts on nature and people. Our special focus is on ending deforestation – an essential step in achieving urgent global goals on climate, nature and human rights.
Our platforms, data and insights are relied upon by Fortune 500 companies, major financial institutions, national and regional governments, and some of the most effective campaigning organisations worldwide.
We work globally, with a focus on both forested regions (particularly across Latin America and South East Asia), and major consumer and financial markets (with a focus on Europe, the US, Singapore and China).
ABOUT THE NATURE POSITIVE PROGRAMME
Shifting financial flows from enabling nature destruction towards activities that credibly support nature protection and restoration is crucial.
Global Canopy is working to enable the mobilisation of investment at scale into activities that deliver positive outcomes for nature and people, and to reverse the current imbalance, where financial flows to nature-destroying activities sit at USD7 trillion while financial flows towards Nature-based Solutions remain at USD230 billion. Turning this tide requires both reducing financial flows to nature-negative activities and significantly scaling up finance for activities that deliver for nature and people.
Many investors lack clarity on how to make this shift. Building on the success of The Little Book of Nature Business, Global Canopy is developing a Nature-Positive Transitions programme that will deliver the evidence, analysis, innovation and energy to mobilise investors, especially asset owners, to support this financial shift.
We are a new, exciting and extremely ambitious programme within Global Canopy and we work closely with likeminded partners, including Oxford University, UNEP Finance Initiative, and UNEP’s State of Finance for Nature initiative.
We also work closely with other teams across Global Canopy, bringing the organisation’s longstanding expertise and market-leading data for finance and corporate supply chains, and nature, deforestation and human rights impacts.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our very first project under the Nature-Positive Programme, in partnership with the Nature Positive Hub at the University of Oxford, focuses on building the data infrastructure to enable credibility and comparability in assessing nature-related opportunities. To ensure we deliver the data infrastructure that enables credibility and comparability across emerging nature investing opportunities for the financial sector, we are establishing a data infrastructure workstream to define the criteria to assess the potential nature contributions from these opportunities, their risk-adjusted returns, their investability potential and how they can match the mandates of diverse asset owners.
We are seeking two Research Associates with demonstrably strong research and analytical skills and experience in the fields of nature or biodiversity finance who will directly contribute to this data infrastructure workstream.

The Christie Charity is a vibrant, fast moving, energetic organisation with a passionate team and a fantastic reputation. Everything we do is geared to supporting the renowned Christie hospital ensuring cancer patients receive the highest level of treatment and care and have access to world leading research and technology. We provide funding over and above what the NHS provides.
We are currently entering a particularly exciting period of growth and expansion as we fundraise for a number of major projects. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and proactive individual to play a key role in shaping and enhancing the experience of our supporters. Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive and colleagues across the Charity, you will lead the development of a supporter-centred approach, ensuring supporter insight, feedback and needs are at the heart of planning, communications and engagement activity.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about understanding audiences and driving continuous improvement. As the Charity’s champion for supporter experience, you will use insight and feedback to shape campaigns, strengthen supporter journeys and build lasting relationships. By bringing the voice of the supporter into decision making and fostering collaboration across teams, you will help deliver meaningful experiences that inspire long-term engagement and maximise support for the Charity’s mission.
The Charity team is responsible for raising millions of pounds each year to ensure Christie patients receive the very best care and treatment. This includes everything from access to world first clinical trials and receiving radiotherapy in state-of-the-art treatment centres, to young adults being cared for in a bespoke age-appropriate centre and being able to offer patients anxiety reducing complementary therapy, or even creative sessions in our art room.
If you want to make a real difference to cancer patients and are ready to rise to the challenge of working for one of the most successful charities in the North-West, then this could be the role for you. We will be reviewing applications and arranging interviews on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged. Interviews will be held on Monday 10th August 2026.
