This is an exciting opportunity to join Battersea as Head of Finance on a part-time, fixed-term basis, providing cover during a period of sabbatical leave. The role will provide senior financial leadership throughout this period, ensuring continuity, stability and high-quality financial support across the Charity.

This role will lead a high-performing finance and procurement team, ensuring Battersea has robust financial management and an effective control environment that safeguards its finances. They will oversee statutory financial responsibilities, including the production and external audit of statutory accounts and submissions to the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC.

This role will ensure the Charity has timely, accurate and meaningful financial information to support sound decision-making, while providing a customer-focused finance service across the organisation. This will include high-quality financial reporting, training, support and advice to key stakeholders.

As a senior leader and member of the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will contribute to Battersea’s strategic direction and culture, role-modelling its values and helping the Charity achieve its objectives.

We train and support volunteers to offer various accommodation options while building a network of local support. This includes providing personalised assistance to help individuals access relevant local services and address their other needs. Through compassionate, courageous, and collaborative action, we implement innovative solutions to tackle housing injustice, enhance the quality of housing, and elevate the voices and experiences of groups affected by housing injustice to both local and national governments. 

About the programme

The Faith & Community Development Team supports and strengthens community and faith-based responses to homelessness across England. This role will help shape Housing Justice’s national programme of quality improvement, training and best practice for community and faith-based homelessness services, using insight from our flagship Quality assurance framework, Impact Portal, existing research, and partnership engagement to continue the development of practice standards, resources and learning opportunities for the network. 

About you

We are seeking an experienced and organised programme lead with a strong understanding of homelessness, housing policy and practice, and quality improvement. You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting and facilitating, drafting reports, quality mark standards and guidance. You will also be comfortable managing multiple priorities, managing a small team, working with data and monitoring information, and building positive relationships with local authorities, funders, sector partners and organisations in the Housing Justice network. 

About the role

The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of Housing Justice’s national quality improvement, training and best practice work for community and faith-based homelessness services across England. You will oversee the continued development of the Quality Mark accreditation scheme for emergency accommodation providers, lead the creation of a new Quality Framework for day services, develop an Emergency Accommodation Toolkit, and deliver training, learning events and communities of practice. 

The postholder will provide leadership to a small team, with line management responsibility for up to two members of staff, and will work closely with partners to strengthen service quality, safety, effectiveness and sustainability across the sector.

Working across Fundraising and closely with colleagues in Marketing and Technology, you'll bring together data from across our digital channels to understand what's working, what's not and where we can make things better. • Analyse performance across digital campaigns, websites and supporter journeys, turning data into clear insights and recommendations.

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, including implementing and maintaining digital measurement and tracking.

We are seeking to recruit a Parliamentary and Policy Assistant to support our legislative and policy programme. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a career in environmental policy while gaining first-hand experience of how Parliament and the legislative process work, and insight into the nuts and bolts of the operations of a small not-for-profit environmental organisation.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will monitor parliamentary activity; research environmental policy; help prepare briefings and updates; support engagement with parliamentarians and stakeholders; contribute to communications; and help deliver events. No two days will be the same and you will gain broad exposure to the work of a busy policy team.

Role profile

• Monitor parliamentary activity including questions, debates, select committees, and legislation.
• Support with preparation of written briefings and other outputs, such as weekly summaries and updates.
• Undertake research on climate change, nature and other related environmental policy areas to inform legislative work, briefings and regular policy updates.
• Provide support to the legislative and policy team including through research, reviewing Hansard and logging and tracking updates 
•  Assist with data capture and entry into organisational databases.
• Support senior colleagues in preparing for meetings with parliamentarians and external stakeholders. 
• Support the delivery of the organisation's communications activity as required, including assisting with drafting website content, blogs and social media posts.
• Support the team with the delivery of parliamentary and external events and visits including venue booking, coordinating invitations, assisting with preparation of event materials and providing administration and logistical support.
• Provide day-to-day administrative support to policy and legislative colleagues, including document filing, note taking in meetings and coordination of meetings.  
• Attend parliamentary and external events to support policy research, insights and stakeholder outreach.
• Undertake ad hoc projects and tasks as required.

Interim Director of Income and Engagement (10 Months Fixed Term)

Salary: £75,000 to £78,000 per annum WTE

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Description

This role sits within Purposeful Ventures’ core team, and provides marketing and brand support to both our core team and wider incubations.

Responsibilities and duties

Digital marketing and owned channels

• Manage routine updates to Purposeful’s current website, ensuring content is accurate, up to date and aligned with our tone of voice
• Support the Senior Communications Manager with the development of Purposeful’s new website including gathering content from internal teams, creating or adapting visual assets, CMS content
• Work alongside the Senior Communications Manager to create and design engaging LinkedIn content that reflects Purposeful’s brand and engages our priority audiences, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders if required
• Support the Senior Communications Manager with populating Purposeful’s LinkedIn content calendar, including updating our annual activity calendar
• Prepare regular engagement analysis, using LinkedIn Analytics and other relevant analytics tools, across Purposeful’s owned channels supporting the Senior Communications Manager to identify trends and opportunities to improve content performance

Content and brand assets

• Design and adapt defined collateral for presentations and external communications, including case studies, testimonials, annual reports, impact reports and templates, ensuring materials are clear, accurate, up to date and aligned with Purposeful’s tone
• Create and adapt defined compelling visual content to illustrate Purposeful’s work and impact to internal and external audiences (such as video, photography, graphics, data illustration)

Bespoke marketing support for incubations and partner organisations

• Work with the Senior Communications Manager and wider team to produce defined marketing materials for new incubations, based on each incubation’s set-up strategy. Typical outputs may include launching social media profiles, creating visual identity assets, brand guidelines, microsite or website design/build, supporting creating key messaging documents, creating tone of voice/glossary guidance, designing marketing assets, drafting social media content plans and marketing plans
• Work with the Comms team and our Ventures colleagues to deliver or support defined marketing projects for our existing incubations and parter organisations, building on the types of outputs above

Who we are looking for

Key requirements

• Passionate about creating a fairer society where all young people thrive
• Demonstrable track record of taking ownership of commitments and working hard to succeed.
• A strong design eye and experience using design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or similar software) to create clear marketing assets
• Working knowledge of a range of website skills, platforms (e.g. Wix, Squarespace), content management systems, basic web design principles, user experience and user journeys
• Experience working from defined marketing briefs, understanding scope of work requirements: executing a brief, delivering agreed outputs for a specific audience at pace, on time and within a limited budget
• Knowledge of relevant social media tactics and experience supporting the set-up of social media profiles, or creating and managing content across social media platforms with an understanding of audience and channel specific nuances – particularly on LinkedIn
• Experience using analytics tools, such as Google Analytics and LinkedIn Analytics, to monitor engagement, evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement across website and social media channels.
• Ability to liaise with stakeholders beyond your immediate team, which may include experience with clients, social entrepreneurs, start-up leaders, customers or external stakeholders including working to a brief, managing feedback and delivering agreed outputs
• Right to work in the UK

Desirable

• Experience supporting internal communications across one or more channels, formats or outputs
• Experience supporting B2B or B2C event planning (such as conferences, exhibitions, public or internal events, speaker presentations, receptions, webinars or fundraising events)
• Experience working with freelancers or marketing agencies, including supporting drafting briefs, commissioning processes, project check-ins, recording minutes/actions
• Awareness of how AI tools can support content creation, design and editing, with judgement about when human review, accuracy checks and brand oversight are needed
• Charity or start-up experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who brings initiative, curiosity and transferable marketing skills, and can produce relevant, meaningful assets and outputs that add value to a project.
