Purpose of the role:
The Kinship Navigator provides intensive, time-limited support to kinship carers through the Kinship Connected programme, a structured six-month intervention designed to help kinship families stabilise placements and access the support they need.
Working directly with kinship carers in West Dunbartonshire, you will build trusting relationships while completing structured assessments, goal setting and reviews to help families strengthen their support networks and navigate services such as children’s social care, education, health and community support.
This is a community-facing role, working from Y Sort It’s offices and directly in kinship carers’ homes and community spaces. You will work alongside Y Sort It’s Intandem mentors to ensure that both carers and the children they care for receive coordinated, complementary support.

This will involve supporting young people to engage in positive and constructive activities, attend Youth Justice Service or Probation appointments and creating opportunities for their personal, social and emotional development
You will work alongside the employment support manager to plan and deliver the employment group, supporting participants that attend this group and leading specific employment programmes. As manager of the key work project you will oversee the small team of key workers, provide support, guidance and supervision. You will be involved in monitoring and reporting for the project, collecting feedback from participants. You will manage referrals to the project from other organisations including schools, social services, probation and the youth justice service.

You must have proven experience of working directly with young people in a youth work or key work setting, providing one to one support. You will have the ability to empathise and mediate for young people, a strong understanding of the local area, barriers facing young people, the interplay between material disadvantage, vulnerability and social exclusion and be highly skilled in diplomacy, professional distance, demonstrating empathy, boundaries and sound judgement. The Payroll Manager is responsible for preparing payroll outputs and reports for review; ensuring that final authorisation, sign-off and release of payroll payments are forwarded timely to senior members of the Finance and People & Culture teams, in line with agreed controls and delegated authorities. The Payroll Manager escalates exceptions, narrative for variances, policy deviations and high-risk items for decision and approval.

About the role
As a Suicide Bereavement Advisor you will:
Manage a caseload of assigned clients.
Provide emotional and practical support to clients over the phone and via email and SMS.
Provide a safe space for them to talk about their loss and how it is impacting them, offering them empathy and validation.
Provide information and advice about practical issues they may be dealing with.
Where appropriate, refer them to our Counselling Service and help them to fill in the application form.
Support them to access other relevant services through signposting.
Log all contacts in our client management system, ensuring accurate records are kept and maintained.
Meet agreed performance standards around call duration, timely note completion and consistent caseload management, in line with our commitment to fairness and consistency for clients and team.
Help with ongoing initiatives to improve our services, including opportunities to contribute to resource creation, training and presenting, and wider projects.
Support the Client Care team where needed, including covering the phone line and helping with administrative tasks when available.
Liaise with other relevant organisations to build our connections within the sector and increase awareness of our services.
Attend and contribute to team and staff meetings.
Attend training, conferences and workshops in line with continuous professional development.
Represent the charity at relevant events
Work in accordance with our values and follow all policies and procedures.

About you
You will have experience of working on a helpline or a client-facing role, ideally in the area of mental health; or you may be studying to be a counsellor.

You will live within commuting distance of our office in Westminster.
