Job description

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with a chartered institution for building services engineers to recruit their next Senior Networks and Engagement Manager – Regions and YEN.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected professional membership body at a time of growth and development, leading engagement across their regional and early-career volunteer networks.

We're looking for an experienced relationship manager, volunteer engagement specialist or membership professional who enjoys working with volunteers, building meaningful stakeholder relationships and driving positive change. If you're motivated by supporting networks to thrive, improving ways of working and delivering strategic projects that make a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.

The organisation is the professional body for building services engineers and exists to advance and promote the art, science and practice of building services engineering.

They support professionals throughout their careers by setting standards, accrediting education, investing in research and influencing industry policy. Working with them offers the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable built environment while supporting a passionate and engaged membership community.

Senior Networks and Engagement Manager – Regions and YEN

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Location: Farringdon, London
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week in the office)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

This is a varied and influential role within the organisation's Networks and Engagement team, with responsibility for supporting regional volunteer networks across the UK and internationally, alongside the Young Engineers Network (YEN).

The position combines strategic leadership with operational oversight, ensuring regional and volunteer networks are effective, well-supported and positioned to maximise member engagement.

You will work closely with senior volunteers, committees and board members, while also managing and developing two direct reports.

This is not a committee administration role. Instead, you'll take ownership of ensuring volunteer networks are functioning effectively, identifying opportunities for improvement, leading strategic projects and helping shape the future structure of the orgnisation's regional engagement model.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight and support to UK and international regional networks. Work closely with volunteer committees to ensure effective governance and engagement. Support and develop the Young Engineers Network (YEN). Lead strategic projects relating to volunteer engagement and network development. Review and improve the effectiveness of regional structures and ways of working. Build strong relationships with senior volunteers, board members and colleagues. Lead annual planning and activity processes across networks. Support membership growth, retention and engagement initiatives. Line manage and develop two team members. Attend regional meetings and events as required. About You

We're looking for someone who combines excellent stakeholder management skills with a genuine passion for working with volunteers.

You will likely bring:

Experience working with volunteers, committees, networks or membership communities. Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills. Experience leading teams and developing colleagues. An understanding of governance and committee structures. The ability to work strategically while remaining comfortable with operational delivery. Experience managing multiple projects and priorities. Excellent communication and influencing skills. A proactive mindset and the confidence to identify and implement improvements. Applications are welcome from candidates within membership bodies, professional associations, charities, institutes, not-for-profit organisations and other environments where volunteer engagement and stakeholder management are central to success.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact across a large volunteer network while shaping how engagement is delivered in the future.

You'll join an organisation with a clear sense of purpose, work with highly committed volunteers and members, and play a key role in delivering projects that support the future of the profession.

The role offers an excellent blend of strategic work, relationship management, leadership and project delivery, making it ideal for someone ready to take the next step in their career.

Closing Date: Sunday 23rd August 2026 - please note early applications are encouraged.
