Job description
Head of Safeguarding
Are you an experienced safeguarding professional with the confidence to lead, challenge and influence at a senior level? YMCA St Helens is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Head of Safeguarding to provide strategic leadership and expert oversight of safeguarding practice across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this pivotal role will act as the organisation's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding for children, young people and adults. You will provide expert advice to leaders, oversee complex safeguarding cases, lead quality assurance and training, and help embed a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

We're looking for someone with:
  • Significant experience in safeguarding adults, children and young people.
  • Experience providing high-level safeguarding advice and guidance.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders on safeguarding strategy and practice.
  • Strong experience managing complex safeguarding concerns and risk.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to build effective partnerships and challenge constructively when required.
  • Willingness to participate in the organisational on-call rota.
