Background

The Food Education Network (FEN) began in 2020 as a coalition of organisations passionate about improving food education in schools and other settings to influence recommendations for the National Food Strategy.

School Food Matters is now looking for an experienced and passionate leader with skills in advocacy and communications to lead the future development of the Food Education Network and its next stage of influencing government policy around food education from early years into the secondary phase.

Main Responsibilities

The Director will build on the foundations already laid to establish the Food Education Network as a new member organisation to bring the sector together. This role will involve building close relationships with a wide range of external partners to ensure the Network is a credible voice on food education policy and is campaigning with its members to make change happen. The role will be split between governance of the network (40%) and influencing government policy (60%). 

Principle Duties:

· Define and clearly present the top policy priorities around food education and take these to politicians, the media and wider world

· Build close relationships with key decision-makers to influence food education policy

· Raise awareness of food education within the educational community

· Support the steering committee to raise funds

· Grow and solidify the Food Education Network, setting out a one-year plan with clear objectives, purpose, operations and governance

· Continue to build the membership of the Network, reaching out to organisations in the food education sector who can help add to the Network’s voice and evidence

Ideal Candidate

· Can work confidently in a start-up role to grow an organisation almost from scratch

· Solid understanding of public affairs, policymaking, and communications

· Significant experience of working in advocacy at a senior level

· Proven ability to effectively influence a range of political stakeholders and communicate complex policy positions verbally and in writing

· Ability to bring together a range of stakeholders behind a shared strategy, matrix managing multi-disciplinary teams across organisations and managing differences of position and views

· Comfortable with managing multiple workstream, rapidly assessing the changing political environment and adapting strategies accordingly

· Genuine interest in championing food education.

This new role will help drive income growth for their Partnerships Team through preparing compelling written proposals, tender submissions, and grant applications. The post holder will collaborate with the Director of Development and Head of Partnerships to select appropriate projects for funding.  This role is ideal for someone who thrives on identifying prospects, managing a ready-to-go pipeline, relationship building, and closing deals. They will support with diversifying income through trusts, foundations, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and sponsorships.

They are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of securing new income and business in terms of five & six figure grants and gifts from Trusts, Foundations and HNWIs. They are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience in pipeline management and writing high-quality applications. The primary focus of the Data Officer role is data quality. Data Officers are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of Helpline data through a data cleaning regime, maintaining adherence to published data standards. Data Officers will also work with Helpline Advisors to address common data errors and improve quality at point of entry. About this role

As the Counselling Coordinator your responsibilities would include: -

· Developing and managing a quality counselling service which meets the needs and diversity of Essex carers, and is delivered according to the standards set out in the BACP Ethical Framework

· Line managing and recruiting staff, placement students and qualified volunteer counsellors to deliver SFBT counselling interventions to carers face to face, virtually or on the phone

· Managing all referrals into the service, assessing them against the service criteria, referring on as appropriate, and managing the waiting list.

· Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the service regularly, ensuring it’s both meeting the needs of carers and is being delivered according to the BACP Ethical Framework

· Reporting to Service Manager and provide monthly reports on delivery for contract reports

About you

To be successful in this role you will need -

· A relevant counselling qualification (BACP approved).

· Registration with BACP or other professional counselling body

· Working knowledge of social care and health, particularly as it relates to working with carers and adults

· Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

· Excellent customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction

· Knowledge of the challenges affecting Carers.

· Competent in use of IT (Microsoft Applications Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Power Bi), mobile telephony and social media platforms.

Our Head of Fundraising role could be your next exciting opportunity! We are seeking a candidate who is passionate and focused on resourcing our nature-based youth development work. The role provides an opportunity to build and shape our next fundraising strategy, focus on planning, income generation, and relationship building, and support the expansion of Grow’s programmes into 2026 and beyond.

Strategy

• Lead on the development and delivery of an overarching fundraising strategy for Grow
• Increase funding revenue through statutory, corporate and individual donors and build this into the fundraising strategy
• Manage and develop Grow’s Fundraising Team
• Deliver Grow’s ambitious fundraising financial targets
• Manage strategic bids and reporting processes
• Develop and oversee fundraising events in collaboration with the Head of Marketing and External Relations including promoting Grow to a wider audience

Management

• Manage and mentor our Fundraising Assistant 
• Manage the fundraising budget
• Conduct regular 1-to-1s and manage relevant performance management processes
• Prioritise the development of the Fundraising Assistant through developing KPIs, identifying training needs, and accessing training with support from the People & Culture team
• Reporting to CEO
• Lead compliance in relation to CIoF code of conduct

Wider responsibilities

• Showcase the impact of young people - investing time in understanding the faces and people that are at the heart of Grow’s mission
• Play an active role in Grow’s team and key activities, including attending social and fundraising events (likely to be during evenings and at weekends)
• Occasional evening and weekend commitments

We are looking for someone who is a fantastic relationship builder who can interpret and deliver an understanding of our mission to others and ultimately gain their support. We want someone with a track record of working in the third sector and who can develop and deliver high-impact fundraising strategies so that we can take our nature-based work to the next level and expand our programmes in the Sheffield area.

You must be available to work on Mondays.

Training

• Support and training will be provided as needed to ensure the post holder's success and development in the role. Initial development needs will be identified and addressed during the probation period.
• Monthly training sessions take place at 10.30am, on the first Monday of each month. This is for all employees to come together to learn and socialise.
