Missing People’s Policy and Research Team is a small team with a big impact, both within the charity and externally. We aim to create local, regional and national change to improve the response to missing people. We work in an evidence-based way, centring the experiences of those who have been or are affected by missing. As the Policy and Public Affairs Manager, you will lead work to influence improvement in the response for missing children, adults and their families at a national and local level.

Joining our Policy and Research Team, you will help influence local and national policy, ensuring that the voices and experiences of missing people and their families are heard at the highest levels. Your work will directly shape how the UK understands and responds to missing people — and will help protect those at greatest risk of harm. You will learn from and work with people who have been missing, and people who have reported a loved one missing, to shape workplans and to call for change.
You will act as Co-Secretariat for the APPG for Missing Children and Adults, and build relationships with key stakeholders in government, parliament, the police and safeguarding agencies, finding ways to engage and motivate policy makers to better understand the issues affecting missing people and their families, and to make positive changes.
You will become expert in the issue of missing, including the risks that cause people to go and the harm they experience while away. This will also involve monitoring the policy landscape for opportunities to influence changes in the response to missing people, and provide expert insight and guidance to help shape improvement.
You will represent issues facing some of the most marginalised and vulnerable communities. This might include people who face sexual or criminal exploitation, people experiencing mental health problems or people who face discrimination in the response they receive from statutory services when they seek help in relation to the issue of missing, amongst others. This will sometimes include engaging with and challenging professionals in organisations and systems that exist with embedded discrimination.
ABOUT YOU
You will have:
• Right to work in the UK.
• Previous experience of working in a policy or public affairs role;
• Experience of successfully influencing change at a local and/or national level;
• Experience of building and maintaining relationships with politicians and other policymakers, including quickly building rapport and establishing trust;
• Experience of working with Parliamentarians in All Party Parliamentary Group/s
• Experience of sensitively representing complex issues in communications with professionals or the public, particularly issues which impact on marginalised people;
• An understanding of political systems across the UK and how to influence policy within those systems;
• Knowledge of missing or linked issues, for example mental health, care experience, exploitation, homelessness, or adult social care;
• Understanding of the experiences of marginalised communities and how to ensure that those who are marginalised are included and given the opportunity to influence change;
• Proven ability to communicate complex information in a clear manner to different audiences, including some information that might challenge existing perceptions and perspectives;
• Able to work autonomously, with proven ability to move projects forward when working independently.

As Deputy Supported Housing Manager, you will play a central role in our- supported accommodation for young people aged 16–25 who are at risk of homelessness. Our services operate 24/7 to provide a safe, stable home where young people can feel understood, encouraged and supported.
Across our East Sussex sites, we work with around 50 young people, each with their own story, strengths, challenges and ambitions. Support Workers hold individual caseloads and meet regularly with residents to build support plans, celebrate progress, and set meaningful goals for the future. Your leadership will help create the environment where this work thrives - one where young people feel empowered and staff feel confident and supported.
In delivering the role, you will work closely with the Supported Housing Manager, while supporting the wider team to deliver consistent, compassionate support. You will be responsible for:
Service Provision: Supporting the Supported Housing Manager with the daily operations of the services so that they meet the requirements of the service specification including compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and Ofsted regulations. Oversee the residents’ referral, interview and induction processes for all beds and ensure the Occupancy Agreements and House Rules are fully understood. Ensure the quality of accommodation that is provided, liaising with the Housing and Property Services team to complete estate inspections and health and safety risk assessments, and to turn around voids and organise repairs in line with organisational targets and statutory obligations. With the Supported Housing Manager ensure effective income collection for all beds, working closely with the Rents team to create a rent payment culture.
Leadership and People Management: Directly line manage team members, ensuring their service delivery, working culture and personal development mirror best practice. Ensuring the team is adequately trained and empowered to work effectively and creatively with our young people to enable them to achieve their aspirations and ambitions, whilst ensuring they are supported within safe and consistent boundaries.
General: Be a member of the out of hours ‘on call’ rota to provide out of hours management support to projects in the wider locality. Reflect Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs), Trauma Informed approaches and restorative practices.

Time Commitment and Remuneration
This role is part time with a commitment of approximately 2-3 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings. Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices in London or other suitable venues.
Members are paid up to £185 per meeting. This is taxable and subject to National Insurance (NI) contributions. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule.

EQUISS Caseworker
Reports to: Head of Advocacy and Safeguarding
Purpose of the Role
EQUISS is an independent organisation working to strengthen safeguarding, welfare and accountability across the equestrian sector.
Across the equestrian world - from riding schools and training yards to competitions and affiliated clubs - concerns about abuse, misconduct and unsafe practices have too often been difficult to raise, navigate or resolve. EQUISS has been established to help change that: ensuring individuals affected by harm are heard, supported and able to access clear and safe pathways for raising concerns.
This role represents the first advocacy caseworker position within EQUISS, playing a central part in establishing a new, independent support service for the equestrian sector.
The Caseworker will provide trauma-informed advocacy, guidance and practical support to individuals experiencing abuse, harm or misconduct within equestrian environments. The role will help individuals understand their options, access appropriate support and navigate reporting processes within sport and, where appropriate, statutory systems.
Working closely with the Head of Advocacy and Safeguarding, the Caseworker will help deliver EQUISS’s advocacy service and support line, ensuring individuals receive safe, informed and survivor-centred support.
As one of the early roles within a developing organisation, the Caseworker will also contribute insight from frontline casework to help EQUISS identify patterns, risks and systemic safeguarding challenges within the equestrian world, supporting the organisation’s wider mission to drive meaningful reform.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy and Support
- Provide empathetic, trauma-informed support to individuals seeking guidance relating to abuse, misconduct or safeguarding concerns within equestrian environments
- Act as a single point of contact (SPOC) for individuals engaging with the criminal justice system, helping them understand processes, maintain communication with relevant agencies and access appropriate support throughout the process
- Listen to and respond to disclosures in a sensitive, survivor-centred manner while always maintaining professional boundaries, and ensuring clients understand the remit of the service
- Help individuals understand their rights, options and available pathways for raising concerns

Overall Objectives
To support women who have been subjected to domestic abuse, ‘so called’ honor-based abuse and or forced marriage to navigate the barriers faced in their journey to recovery.
To provide holistic and trauma-informed support to women residing across Pdap’s refuge services who have experienced domestic abuse. The post will have a strong emphasis on supporting empowerment through one to one and group-based activities. This role will deliver targeted interventions, facilitate group activities that promote confidence and self-efficacy, and provide flexible, ad hoc support to a small caseload of women.
The successful applicant will embody the Pdap values and keep the client at the heart of everything they do.
Particular Tasks of the Postholder
The postholder will provide client-centred support and advocate for victims of domestic abuse by;
1. Providing bespoke 1 to 1 support sessions:
• Provide one-to-one support tailored to the needs of women affected by domestic abuse.
• Help women rebuild post-abuse.
• Complete support plans with women to ascertain their needs and work with them to achieve their goals
• To support women to access housing and other key services
• To ensure women have the means to live independently including support to access finance and education
2. Facilitating Group Activities
• Alongside the wider DAP team to design and facilitate a regular programme of group activities aimed at building confidence, skills, and emotional wellbeing.
• Promote peer support, personal development, and recovery through workshops on topics such as self-esteem, healthy relationships, assertiveness, and life skills.

About the Role:
You will provide high quality support to all victims of APV/CPV, leading on completing initial impact and risk assessments that are comprehensive and holistic. You will also provide cover for the local VS Helpline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess the risks and needs of APV/CPV victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
- Focus on and prioritise high risk cases and provide a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service. Deliver individually appropriate tailored support and information, advocacy, and practical support.
- Work with victims of APV/CPV to assist them in accessing services to keep them and their family safe. Develop individual safety plans to meet client's needs as identified in the risks and needs assessment.
- Ensure each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions.
- Work within the legal framework relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, including the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Adult and Children's Boards.
- Providing advocacy and information to victims including exploration of legal and civil options, housing, health and finance and support clients through the criminal justice system.
- Support the empowerment of the client.
- Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures, as well as all legislation connected to your work.
About you:
You will need:
- A good command of the English language both verbally and in writing.
- A good understanding of APV/CPV and/or domestic abuse including the impact of these on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Understand Safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
- Direct service delivery experience to victims of domestic abuse or APV/CPV
- Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
- Experience of managing a complex caseload, to prioritise work and deal with competing demands
- Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
- Excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals
- An IDVA qualification or willingness to work towards this

Are you an experienced financial professional? Pilgrims' Friend Society is expanding, and we need a Financial Accountant to take charge of legal entities for our Housing Schemes. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for running and reconciling finance sub-ledgers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Our focus is providing a loving and caring environment for our “family members” (our residents) and maintaining the Christian ethos that is important to many of them.
The group operates on 20 sites with over 700 staff and an annual income of c.£20m.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and processing of journal entries, including accruals, to ensure an efficient and accurate month-end close.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing procedures in Sage, proactively identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
- Take ownership of reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other charities within the Group to reconcile inter-charity balances and accruals, while constantly looking for ways to streamline the process.
- Provide detailed analysis of the P&L to offer clear insights into monthly financial performance.
- Work closely with the Financial Controller to identify trends, variances, and areas for financial improvement.
- Take initiative in producing monthly financial reports for managers across PFS, ensuring these reports are not only accurate but also actionable.
- Collaborate with the Financial Controller to refine existing reporting and develop new reports that align with the charity’s evolving needs.
- Play an active role in the annual budgeting process, collaborating with the Financial Controller and key stakeholders to align the budget with strategic priorities.
- Prepare and submit ad-hoc reports, including regulatory returns to the ONS, Charity Commission, and other relevant authorities, ensuring they are timely and compliant.
- Support the Financial Controller with a wide range of finance tasks, from monthly close activities to strategic initiatives.
- Identify areas where processes can be improved or automated, driving efficiencies across the finance function.
- Work closely with non-finance managers to support their understanding of financial data and provide insights that help drive decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships across the charity, advocating for the finance department’s role in achieving the charity’s broader goals.
- Take ownership of your own professional growth by seeking out opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills.
- Participate in training and development programs and actively suggest ways to enhance the team’s capabilities.
- Actively engage with the charity’s values, attending the Support Office noon prayers via Teams and embodying the charity’s mission in your day-to-day work.
About you:
- Recently or part qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, highly desirable.
- Relevant finance or accounting degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven track record in management accounting, ideally within the charity or non-profit sector.
- Experience with month-end and year-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Strong experience in process improvement and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proven experience with Sage 200.
- Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to challenge existing processes and propose innovative solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights for managers and leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.
- Proficiency with Sage accounting software (or similar), along with advanced Excel skills.
- Self-motivated, with a strong ability to take ownership of tasks and projects, even in the absence of detailed supervision.
