Spires was established as a response to homelessness in the late 1980s. Spires has developed into an organization that provides a range of services, including day centre style drop-ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working. Probation: This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period.
Notice: This post is subject to one week’s notice during the probationary period and a six-week notice period thereafter.
Annual leave: The annual leave entitlement is 35 days per year pro rata, made up of eight bank and public holidays and 27 days annual leave. The 27 days annual leave is normally split between 24 ‘bookable’ days and three closure days that fall between Christmas and the New Year. Although the centre is closed between Christmas and the New Year, we open on Christmas Day for clients. Staff are encouraged to work on Christmas Day if available. Double time off in lieu is offered in return.
Pension: The Spires Centre operates an Opt-out group pension arrangement and currently contributes 5% of annual salary for those who qualify. Personal contributions are currently 3%.

Central Services is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to women through our Casework and Drop-in projects. These projects aim to address various challenges faced by women in Birmingham.

We are seeking a highly efficient, collaborative professional with a keen eye for detail to work closely with the CEO in a supporting role. LGBTQ+ Drug and Alcohol Recovery Worker (Fast Track Cities HIV Reengagement Project)
London Friend’s Antidote service provides high quality drug & alcohol psycho-social treatment and support to LGBTQ+ people utilising harm reduction & abstinence-based methods. Antidote is a part of London Friend which aims to support and promote health & wellbeing for LGBTQ+ people living in the London area.
We deliver services across London, including in partnership with Local Authority-based drug and alcohol treatment services and sexual health clinics.
Recovery support workers provide support to LGBTQ+ people experiencing difficulties with drug or alcohol use, including supporting those engaged in chemsex, and incorporating HIV prevention initiatives and sexual health support. They will hold a caseload of clients and be responsible for their assessment, case planning, review, and ongoing care. They will provide outreach to LGBTQ+ people in community settings including local sexual health clinics.
This post is funded via the London Fast Track Cities Initiative which seeks to end HIV transmission. It is a part of two multi-area, multi-disciplinary projects aiming to reengage people living with HIV who have dropped out of treatment and care. The postholder will work with teams in North West and South London including NHS HIV clinics and a range of voluntary sector stakeholders. The postholder will proactively engage identified clients, mostly gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) where drug alcohol or chemsex have been barriers to sustaining HIV treatment and care.
The postholder will also assist with the delivery of Antidote’s services, including our walk-in clinics and group programmes.
The post-holder will take an active anti-discriminatory, anti-racism and trans-inclusive approach around all areas of work and will be an active member of the broader Antidote and London Friend teams and support with the aims & objectives of the whole service.
This is initially offered as a fixed-term contract to 31st March 2027, although it is anticipated that funding will be provided for two further years. Any extension will be subject to future funding being confirmed.
Due to the nature of the work and in order to provide appropriate access for the client group the role requires regular evening work and occasional weekend working and travel across Greater London.

The Opportunity
Engagement is becoming central to how school leaders think about improvement. The 2026 White Paper reframed it as a lead indicator of school improvement. Ofsted's new framework gives it weight. MAT CEOs and headteachers increasingly want termly data they can act on, and TEP is built to provide exactly that.
We have a strong foundation in the North of England, as a region with some of our founding partners, including Outwood Grange Academies Trust, The Education Alliance, BDAT and Pathfinder were among our Research in the Commission for Engagement and a Lead Indicator and we are proud to still have in our community. However, there is still substantial appetite across the North for TEP to give trust and school leaders precision they can act on. There is a pipeline of interested trusts. And there is real opportunity to shape a regional story (events, flagship partnerships, local authority engagement) that compounds as partnerships grow.
The Regional Director will own that opportunity and lead business development in the region. You'll be building on a proven product and a credible research base, and joining at the point where regional presence matters most. Early work will focus on opening new partnerships at trust level, stewarding a small number of strategic relationships with sector bodies and Teaching School Hubs, and establishing TEP as a trusted voice in the region.

The role
You'll lead TEP's growth and business development across the North of England: opening new partnerships with schools and trusts, stewarding strategic relationships with sector bodies, and shaping how TEP shows up in the region. You'll have real autonomy, backed by a Director who's hands-on with strategy, a growing marketing function, and the research weight of ImpactEd Group behind you.
There are three main areas of responsibility:
Winning new partnerships: Lead new business across the North of England, opening conversations with schools and trusts, converting them into partnerships, and delivering against termly targets.
Growing strategic partnerships: Steward the region's highest-value partnerships (typically Teaching School Hubs, sector bodies, or place-based local authority partnerships), leading the relationship and evidencing TEP's impact.
Contributing to TEP more broadly: Feed regional intelligence into TEP's business planning: where the growth is, where the risks are, and help embed scalable ways of working.
About you
We are open to a range of backgrounds, though it is likely the successful candidate will have significant experience working in or closely with schools and education, and experience in selling products or developing partnerships with school leaders. This role offers hybrid working, with 3 days per week in the office or on the road. You should be willing to travel across the North of England for partner meetings, conferences and events (approximately 50% of your time), with occasional UK-wide travel.

This is not a traditional classroom teaching role, though it does require strong classroom presence and credibility.
The Secondary Equity Practitioner will be embedded full-time within one partner secondary school, working mainly with teachers to support deep reflection on practice, help surface harmful assumptions and routines, and support more equitable ways of teaching, relating and responding. The role sits at the heart of Class 13’s Equity-Driven Practice Cycle and is central to how we support lasting change in schools. The role will involve regular lesson cover across the 11-17 age range and across a broad range of subjects, enabling teachers to participate in reflection, training and development.
This role will suit an experienced secondary teacher who can build trust quickly, hold complexity without rushing to easy answers, and stay in relationship when conversations become uncomfortable. We are looking for someone who can act as a supportive, reflective, critical friend to teachers, not someone who needs to be the most certain person in the room.
Purpose of the role
To support teachers to reflect critically on their practice, acknowledge their potential for harm, and take meaningful steps towards transforming how they teach and relate to young people.
Before you apply
This role is deeply relational and, at times, emotionally demanding. You will be working with teachers in moments where reflection may feel vulnerable, uncertain or uncomfortable. To do this well, you will need to bring patience and care: the ability to build trust, hold space for honest conversation, and support people to think carefully about their practice in ways that are thoughtful, humane and grounded.
We are looking for someone who can do this with curiosity and humility. Someone who does not need to stand above the work, but is willing to be part of it. The role asks for a person who can support reflection in others while continuing to reflect on their own practice too.
You will also need to be comfortable working in a very small team, where flexibility, and collective responsibility matter.
Key responsibilities
Equity-Driven Practice Cycle
Build trusting, affirming relationships with teachers and school staff.
Support teachers to reflect on classroom practice, routines, interactions and assumptions.
Facilitate one-to-one and small-group reflective conversations that support teachers discover for themselves rather than simply being told what to change.
Observe lessons and identify patterns, tensions and opportunities for change.
Cover lessons across the secondary age range and across a range of subjects, creating protected space for teachers to engage in professional reflection and development.
Support teachers to translate reflection into practical changes in the classroom.
Contribute to the delivery of Class 13’s wider professional development offer.
Support teachers move from defensiveness to curiosity, and from intent to impact, in line with Class 13’s approach.
School-based relationship and culture work
Build strong working relationships with teachers, support staff and, where appropriate, senior leaders.
Contribute to a school culture where reflection, honesty and shared responsibility are possible.
Offer thoughtful challenge to harmful patterns and practices while maintaining trust and relational safety.
Support the development of more equitable routines, responses and ways of working across school life.
Work with colleagues and school partners to ensure the work remains grounded in the four Class 13 principles.
Organisational contribution
Contribute to Class 13’s organisational learning by documenting reflections, patterns, tensions and emerging insights from delivery.
Work closely with the wider Class 13 team to refine practice, resources and delivery.
Contribute to blogs, case studies, reports and other written outputs where needed.
Participate fully in supervision, reflection and team development as part of a small organisation.

Essential skills and experience
Qualified Teacher Status.
Significant experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
Strong classroom practice and the ability to quickly build rapport with young people aged 11-17.
Confidence in teaching and holding lessons across a broad range of subjects through lesson cover.
Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring or developing other adults in a school setting.
Ability to facilitate reflective conversations in a way that is supportive, calm and humanising.
Ability to build trust with teachers, especially when they feel vulnerable, exposed or defensive.
Strong understanding of how inequity, harm and deficit thinking can show up in schools.
Willingness and ability to reflect critically on your own practice.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and thoughtfully.
Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a very small team.
Desirable skills and experience
Experience in middle or senior leadership.
Experience in inclusion, behaviour, safeguarding or pastoral leadership.
Experience designing or delivering professional development.
Experience of working across whole-school culture changes, not just within your own classroom.
Familiarity with Class 13’s work, values or wider intellectual influences.
Experience working in mainstream secondary schools serving communities facing structural inequality.
What we are less interested in
Polished equity language without deep reflection. For us, this work is not about saying the right things, relying on representation alone, or locating the problem only in other people.
We are looking for someone who can move beyond surface-level familiarity with equity work and show a deeper capacity for reflection, relational practice and change. Awareness-raising, allyship language, and individual or unconscious bias training do not on their own reflect the depth of analysis or practice this role requires.
Class 13’s work asks for something slower and more demanding: a willingness to stay with complexity, examine your own practice as well as the systems around you, and support change in ways that are thoughtful, humane and grounded.
