One of London’s historic “Magnificent Seven” cemeteries, the Cemetery Park is now a Local Nature Reserve and a vital green space in the heart of the East End — where biodiversity, heritage and community come together.
Founded in 1990, the Friends are an award-winning charity dedicated to protecting and caring for this unique site. Now, we are looking for a values-driven, collaborative leader to help strengthen our organisation for the future.
About the role

– Work closely with the Board of Trustees on strategy and governance
– Lead on finance, fundraising and organisational sustainability
– Support and develop staff and volunteers
– Represent the charity externally
– Work in close partnership with our longstanding Cemetery Park Manager
Importantly, this is not a corporate CEO role. It is an opportunity to lead within a community-rooted, place-based charity where humility, partnership and emotional intelligence matter as much as strategy.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has senior experience in a charity or values-led organisation
- Understands governance and financial sustainability
- Can build trust with staff, volunteers and stakeholders
- Is excited by heritage, conservation and community
As a small charity, this role balances strategic thinking with hands-on involvement.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Join a charity rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and play a central role in our senior leadership team.
This is a rare opportunity to use your finance and people leadership expertise to help shape the future of a well-established, values-driven organisation.

As Deputy Chief Executive, you will join our senior leadership team in a pivotal organisation-wide role leading finance, people and core business functions. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Leadership Team, you will help strengthen financial stewardship, support a thriving and sustainable people culture, and ensure the organisation remains resilient, well-governed and effective.
This is a broad and influential leadership role offering both strategic responsibility and meaningful organisational impact. You will contribute to long-term planning and decision-making, provide leadership depth and continuity, and deputise for the Chief Executive when required.
We are looking for an experienced senior leader with strong organisational finance expertise and a good understanding of people leadership and workforce practice. You may come from the charity, public or wider values-led sector, and you will bring a collaborative, grounded leadership style alongside professional rigour.
For the right candidate, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to an already high-performing organisation while continuing to grow your own leadership portfolio in a supportive and purpose-driven environment.

Our mission is to use a range of tools – from grants to investments – to help charities and social enterprises grow their trading income, strengthen their resilience, and access social investment that works for them.
We are building a social investment market fit for the future – one that delivers the right kind of finance to grassroots organisations, particularly in underserved places and communities.
We do this by:

- Ensure that regular performance data is submitted to a high quality and in an agreed format with each delivery partner. Perform checks to ensure accuracy and check understanding with the delivery partner.
- Ensuring the uploading of data into Access’s management systems and producing the required performance reports for internal and external use.
