We are looking for a permanent and full-time member of staff to help develop and communicate RSTMH’s role within tropical medicine and global health. We need a passionate and creative communicator who can play a key role in meeting our communications objectives. This role is office-based in central London, with the option to work from home on Mondays.
RSTMH is a membership society formed in 1907, with around 1,800 members and Fellows in over 100 countries. We work to improve tropical medicine and global health by enabling and promoting research, sharing knowledge and convening networks through our members and Fellows and beyond. The Communications Manager will have the opportunity to develop and enhance RSTMH’s reputation as a credible and trusted voice in tropical medicine and global health.
This is a wide-ranging and exciting role. You will lead on implementing the organisation’s communications strategy, working with the leadership team to ensure it meets the aims of the wider RSTMH strategy. You’ll maintain and further develop the website and social media platforms, build links with media contacts, and source, commission and develop content. You’ll manage relationships with key suppliers, including website developers, strategic partners, digital media and creative agencies. You’ll also be responsible for delivering RSTMH’s newsletters to our members and Fellows, and global network of supporters.
We’re looking for someone ambitious and solutions-focused with a passion for communications to deliver creative and innovative content, and establish analytical systems to monitor our progress.
THE ROLE
- Implement RSTMH’s communications strategy, in line with the wider organisational goals – developing short- and long-term strategic plans
- Develop communication plans for all areas of RSTMH, working with department managers to execute
- Full ownership of the website, including content updating and monitoring for consistency and currency, managing any development work and integration with other systems
- Manage social media channels for RSTMH, and develop strategies to engage wider networks
- Accountable for our joint venture website, grow: including developing a strategy for updating and maintaining the listings and income generation through advertising and/or sponsored posts
- Commission, source, write, edit and proofread engaging and relevant content for the website and social media channels, providing editorial support as required and building a network of expert contributors
- Track engagement across media channels and email marketing, and produce monthly reports for leadership team showing activity
- Ensure RSTMH’s brand and editorial guidelines are maintained in all of the Society’s work, including all communications by the team
- Full responsibility for fortnightly newsletters for RSTMH members and Fellows, and monthly newsletters for non-members with strategies to convert non-members
- Create and maintain Society level communications calendar
- Monitor developments in global health and tropical medicine, especially in order to inform policy work with our Policy and Advocacy Committee
- Establish a network of media contacts for the Society to promote its work, signpost experts, and raise its own profile
- Represent RSTMH externally with key partners, at relevant conferences and industry events
- Support on income-generating activities across RSTMH, particularly new memberships, conversions, journal promotion and event marketing
- Establish and maintain systems to report and evaluate RSTMH’s digital platforms and activities
- Support key RSTMH spokespeople, including the Chief Executive, with media briefings, press releases and key messaging

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential experience
- 5 years’ experience within a digital communication role
- 3 years’ experience developing and maintaining websites and social media for a campaign, cause or organisation
- Proven experience working in an editorial capacity, developing compelling copy for online audiences, with a varied portfolio of written work
- Experience of digital content creation, commissioning and management
- Proficiency in HTML newsletter creation, working to tight deadlines, collaborating with other departments, and using mail clients
- Experience of managing suppliers, partners and contributors
- Familiarity with design software for creating digital assets, such as Canva
- Knowledge of CRM databases
- Experience with digital advertising and promoted social media posts, analysing trends, reviewing efficacy, and adjusting campaigns in real time

Together We Learn is a charity registered in England and Wales, working in close partnership with Together We Learn Ethiopia, a registered NGO in Ethiopia. Operating as two distinct legal entities, the organisations work as sister charities with a shared mission and vision: to enable disadvantaged children to access high-quality education.
While Together We Learn in the UK leads fundraising, governance and international engagement, Together We Learn Ethiopia is responsible for implementing and delivering programmes on the ground.
Our approach focuses on improving both access to education and the quality of education systems, while supporting the wider wellbeing of students, families and communities. We work in partnership with state education systems to deliver sustainable, long-term impact.
By addressing educational needs both in and beyond the classroom, Together We Learn aims to create lasting change for children and communities across Ethiopia.
The Role
As CEO, you will lead the UK team of Together We Learn and work in close partnership with the Ethiopian team, providing guidance and support to enable them to deliver programmes to a high standard. You will provide overall leadership for the charity, with responsibility for fundraising and stakeholder engagement, oversight of programmes, and management of finance and operations.
The annual turnover of Together We Learn is £350,000, and you will be responsible for line managing two staff in the UK and occasional interns, as well as supporting our Ethiopian partner, who has 15 programme and 8 support staff working across two regional offices: Gondar in the Amhara region and Addis Ababa in the Oromia region. The charity is managed by an experienced board of 5 trustees who meet quarterly and provide ad hoc support in their professional areas of expertise.
The charity is in a stable position with funds secured for the current year and a fundraising plan in place for the year ahead. You will have a detailed handover to enable you to carry out the varied functions required by the role and will be supported in these by the Programmes Manager and Sponsorship Coordinator. You will report to the board on a quarterly basis.
Our current three-year strategy focuses on building the capacity of our Ethiopian partner so that they can take a greater role in leading the organisation. This runs through our approach in all aspects of our work, and specific targets have been identified to help us achieve this goal over the strategic period. You will have the opportunity to advance our strategy using your unique skills.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Line manage the Programmes Manager, Sponsorship Coordinator and interns.
- Collaborate with the Ethiopia Country Director and the staff or Together We Learn-
- Ethiopia on programme delivery.
- Deliver the organisational strategy.
Deliver High Quality Programmes
- Monitor delivery of activity plans related to projects, sponsorship and school linking.
- Track programme finances against budgets.
- Support the UK staff in their programme roles.
Finance and Operations Management
- Steward Together We Learn’s finances, including reconciling accounts, managing the finance database and tracking performance against the forecast and fundraising plan.
- Due diligence checks on Ethiopian partner finances.
- Prepare annual accounts for examination and develop the annual report for Charity Commission submission.
- Governance duties and other finance admin.
Fundraising
- Reporting and applications to trusts and foundations.
- Stewardship of donors and fundraisers.
- Oversight of the annual online fundraising campaign.
Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
- Quarterly supporter newsletters.
- Posting regular updates on our social media platforms.

Person Specification
This role requires someone with excellent time management and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams in a development or small charity environment, as well as significant experience managing finance systems, fundraising and having oversight of multiple programmes.
Essential Experience & Competencies
- Energetic and self-motivated individual who shares our mission.
- 3+ years of team leadership or experience in a senior management role directly responsible for staff and high-level reporting. Ability to provide positive, hands-on leadership to a small team of experienced and motivated individuals.
- 3+ years of financial management, including full-cost budgeting, tracking and reconciling finances, and reporting against forecasts and spending plans.
- 3+ years of proven experience in fundraising, a successful track record of securing and reporting on significant grants as well as maintaining positive funder relations.
- Experience working overseas in an international development or education context or working closely with overseas partners in the same sectors.
- A practical, collaborative and adaptable approach with good problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Strong and adaptable communication skills, both written and verbal, to support sensitive cross-cultural working and inspire funders and supporters.
- Fluency with MS Office programs, gmail and shared drives.
Desirable Experience & Competencies
- Lived experience of Ethiopia, or of a comparable context, such as the Horn of Africa or East Africa, or a strong personal or professional connection to Habesha or other African cultures.
- Degree or master’s in international development, or similar field of study.
- Office management experience.
- Project delivery or programme management experience, especially in a small charity, international development or education context.
- Experience reporting directly to board level.
- Experience increasing online engagement or driving new donor recruitment.
- Familiarity with a CRM system (e.g. Salesforce).

Flexible Working

You will be responsible for your own time management but must complete the majority of your work within office hours to ensure consistent management and collaboration with colleagues. This includes staff from our partner charity in Ethiopia (time zone GMT+3/ BST+2).

At the Motability Foundation we fund, support, research and innovate so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. We oversee the Motability Scheme and provide grants to help people use it, providing access to transport to hundreds of thousands of people a year. We award grants to other charities and organisations who provide different types of transport, or work towards making transport accessible. We also carry out ongoing research, in partnership with disabled people and key stakeholders in the industry, to inspire innovations that continue to champion accessible transport for all.
This role will support the Senior Insight Manager in delivering policy research and insight as part of the new insight function. This role sits at the intersection of research and policy, ensuring that evidence is not only generated, but interpreted and mobilised effectively to inform forward-looking organisational positioning.
What you will be doing:
As Policy Research Manager, you’ll play a central role in building and mobilising the evidence needed to influence policy and public debate on mobility, disability and welfare reform. Working closely with colleagues across Insight, Policy and Public Affairs, you’ll help to ensure that the Foundation has a robust, timely and compelling evidence base to support advocacy, engagement with decision-makers, and external partnerships.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing clear and persuasive evidence narratives that demonstrate the social value and impact of the Foundation’s work, drawing on research, evaluation findings and wider policy evidence
- Scoping, developing and oversight of rapid evidence reviews and insight summaries to inform policy positions, responses to consultations and support external engagement

The Finance Manager will support the delivery of Theatres Trust’s strategy, working with the CEO and Head of People, Operations and Finance to create accurate and accessible financial reporting, and provide clear figures to inform budgetary updates. They will work across the staff and shape best practice of financial governance across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of People, Operations and Finance, and working closely with the CEO, the Finance Manager has overall responsibility for the consistent delivery of the financial accounting and administration systems of The Theatres Trust and The Theatres Trust Charitable Fund (two separate entities). This includes maintaining robust, transparent and efficient financial administration and monitoring systems that ensure compliance with the relevant regulations and operational parameters for the work of both entities.

Job Purpose
The Head of Place Management leads the delivery of The Fitzrovia Partnership’s Safe & Clean mission. The role oversees all operational activity, contracts, partnerships, and member-facing services that maintain the district’s quality, safety, and appearance.

The role
Founded in 1903, Art Fund is a registered charity governed by a Royal Charter that was granted in 1928.
We are seeking a part-time Governance Manager to manage Board and Committee meetings, the recruitment and induction of new Trustees, and to provide governance support and guidance to the Chair, Trustees, Director and senior staff. Working with our legal advisor and other senior staff, the role will ensure Art Fund upholds good governance practices and provides all support necessary to Trustees to enable them to discharge their legal responsibilities.
Our charter and bye-laws were amended in 2024 following a detailed review, and Board and Committee terms of reference updated in 2025. In the coming year we need to review our current governance policies and practice against the updated Charity Governance Code, identifying any gaps, and implementing any agreed actions to strengthen governance in line the updated Code. This role will also play a key supporting role in the development of Art Fund’s new strategy for 2027-2031, including co-ordinating Board input, synthesising feedback, and ensuring strategic discussions are well-evidenced and clearly documented.
This role would suit a dedicated charity professional with experience of governance and working with Boards of Trustees, ideally gained in at least two other settings, who is looking to make a real difference to governance policy and practice within an organisation.
