About us
The Alliance for Youth Justice is an alliance of more than 70 non-profit organisations advocating with and for children to drive positive change in youth justice across England and Wales. We mobilise our members’ frontline expertise, children’s lived experience, and evidence from research to champion a child-centred, rights-based and trauma-informed system that treats contact with the justice system as a sign of unmet need and systemic failure, prioritises support over criminalisation and gives every child the opportunity to thrive.
We're widely recognised as the most influential group campaigning for improvements to the system, with trusted access to decision makers, working towards three goals: keeping children safe from the youth justice system through prevention and diversion; racial justice across the system; and custody as a last resort for children.
About the role
Following the launch of our new strategic approach, our Operations and Membership Lead will provide the operational, financial and administrative backbone of the organisation — keeping our finances and governance on track, and coordinating our network of over 70 member organisations.

Every grant you win becomes someone's first conversation in English, their first step into a job interview, their first time speaking up at a housing tribunal.
English for Action (EFA) is looking for a Partnerships Manager to grow the funding that powers our free, participatory ESOL classes for around 400 migrants across London. Our classes don't just teach English, they build the confidence and collective power people need to organise around housing and employment rights.
About the role
Working closely with our Fundraising Lead, you'll take real ownership of relationships with trusts, foundations and corporate funders, while helping shape how we diversify our income going forward. This is a role with genuine scope to bring your own ideas and see them through, not just execute someone else's plan.
You will:
- Write compelling grant applications, funding proposals and reports that win and retain funding
- Research and build a realistic pipeline of trusts, liveries and corporate foundations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing donors and prospects
- Contribute to EFA's fundraising strategy, including newer income streams such as statutory, corporate, individual giving, membership and events
- Liaise with our Executive Team, Hub Leads and Project Managers so funding proposals stay grounded in what's actually happening in our classrooms and communities
- Maintain accurate donor and grant records on Donorfy, and support monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes
About you
You don't need a degree, and you're not expected to tick every box, nobody does. We're looking for someone with a track record of successful grant writing, strong research and relationship-building skills, and the organisation to manage multiple funding deadlines at once. Knowledge of the UK charity sector and UK trusts and foundations is essential; experience with public sector or EU education funding is a bonus.
If you have lived experience of migration and/or learning English as an additional language, we'd love to hear from you and how you'd like to draw on it in this role.
About EFA
English for Action provides free, participatory, empowering ESOL classes for migrants in London, spaces where students build community and organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. We're a national centre of good practice for a radical, participatory approach to ESOL, and we share this approach through training, research and partnerships. We're a team of 11 staff, a wider team of volunteers, and 7 trustees, run through shared leadership rather than a CEO, decisions are made collaboratively, and we aim for our structure to reflect that.
What we offer
- 22.5 hours (3 days) a week, mostly remote, with just monthly in-person meetings in London
- 28 days' annual leave (pro rata) after probation, plus bank holidays, plus a full week's paid closure over Christmas
- 6% matched pension contribution
- Enhanced sick pay, and enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental leave
- Wellbeing allowance and full entitlement to leave for sickness, including mental ill-health
- A genuinely flat, non-hierarchical culture with collaborative decision-making on strategy and practice
- Tech and cycle scheme, and actively encouraged continuous personal development
Equal opportunities
EFA particularly encourages applications from people of colour, who are currently underrepresented at EFA and across the charity sector, and from people who have experienced moving to the UK or have English as an additional language. Where two or more candidates are of equal merit, priority may be given to a candidate from a less well-represented group. Please let us know about any access or other requirements we can accommodate.
Closing date: 11.59pm, Wednesday 30th September 2026
Skills test: w/c 5th October 2026 (writing and budgeting)
Interviews: Friday 9th / 16th October 2026

Aims and scope of the post
The Museum Data Manager helps museums through all the stages of bringing their collections data into the Museum Data Service (MDS). They help make the onboarding process reassuringly quick and easy, particularly for those museum staff and volunteers with limited technical knowledge. The postholder also makes the ingested data as useful as possible to end users by mapping the various source data fields to Spectrum units of information.
MDS is a transformative service from Collections Trust, Art UK and the University of Leicester. It aims to connect and share all the object records across all UK museums, providing the raw material for anyone to work with this wealth of knowledge. The core MDS system uses Knowledge Integration’s CIIM middleware.
Main responsibilities and tasks
- Responding to museums that have expressed interest in joining MDS and leading them through the onboarding process.
- Setting up and managing organisations and user accounts in the MDS CIIM and where needed, Wikidata.
- Generating and filing customised data processing and data deposit agreements based on MDS templates.
- Helping museums export collections data from a range of collections management systems and other systems.
- Helping museums apply access permissions to their data in the MDS CIIM.
- Mapping source data fields to Spectrum units of information.
- Proactively liaising with, and helping, museums to update their MDS data at agreed intervals.
- Responding to enquiries from MDS CIIM users, troubleshooting non-technical problems and liaising with MDS technical support as needed.
- Helping to prepare guidance and deliver training relating to the onboarding process.
- Responding to enquiries about MDA codes that identify UK collection-holding organisations and their collections and maintaining the database of these.
- Undertaking data cleaning work for Collections Trust to support collections consultancy work.
General responsibilities
- Following the principles of Collections Trust’s policies and procedures and those of MDS.
- Additional duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
Line management and key relationships
The Museum Data Manager has no line management responsibilities and reports directly to the Chief Executive of Collections Trust (for HR matters) and the MDS Head of Service (for MDS work). The postholder will work closely with the MDS Technical Manager alongside the User Engagement Officer (based at Art UK) and technical support team (based at the University of Leicester).
Person specification

The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our sector, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. The Museum Data Manager will need to be based in, and have the right to work in, the UK. This role is remote working, with occasional in-person meetings and conferences.
Essential knowledge, skills and qualities
- Three years’ experience working closely with museum collections data in at least one collections management system, preferably a Spectrum Compliant one.
- A good understanding of museum collections data and the way it is produced and shared in the sector.
- Good working knowledge of Spectrum: the UK Museum Collections Management Standard (version 5.1), particularly its units of information.
- Experience of showing others museum professionals how to perform IT-related tasks, ideally remotely via video.
- A rigorous approach to routine administration, with an excellent eye for detail and consistency.
Desirable knowledge, skills and qualities
- Good understanding of the main principles of UK data protection and copyright law.
- Strong communications skills, able to convey technical information to non-technical people.
- Autonomy and ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and proactive approach.
- Experience of different data formats, standards and data cleaning processes used in the cultural heritage sector and/or research.
