Purpose

GuildHE is seeking an ambitious Policy Officer to play a pivotal role in the next phase of our organisation’s growth. Working directly with the Head of Research Policy and the Policy Manager (Skills, Innovation, International), you will help monitor, analyse, and respond to policy initiatives within the research and innovation space.  You will support a range of member-focused events and activities to ensure staff in our member institutions are well-informed and supported. This includes supporting the management of the GuildHE Research Consortium and leading on the organising and delivery of our flagship annual PGR Doctoral Festival, helping our members develop, share best practices, and maximise their research impact.

Key Responsibilities 

Policy Analysis & Communication

1. Horizon Scanning: Monitor government departments (e.g., DSIT, DfE), funding and regulatory bodies (UKRI, Research England, OfS, Innovate UK), and other stakeholders for policy updates, funding calls, and consultation launches in relation to Research and Innovation policy.

2. Briefings: Produce concise policy briefings, data summaries, and position papers for GuildHE members and leadership on key Research and Innovation issues (e.g., REF, knowledge exchange, KEF, commercialisation, research culture, open research). Develop high-quality external reports, consultations, blogs and other materials articulating member challenges and opportunities.

3. Consultation Drafts: Assist senior policy colleagues in gathering evidence, analysing member feedback, collaborating with sector stakeholders, and drafting compelling arguments that articulate the unique perspectives of GuildHE institutions.

4. Share Best Practice: Identify case studies across the GHE membership to share best practice internally and externally and drive national conversations about new ways of working and operating in the sector.

5. Policy issues: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national and institutional research and innovation policies indicated by the Head of Research Policy or Policy Manager (Research, Innovation, International).

Member Support & Consortium Coordination

1. Member Engagement: Maintain regular, positive communication with research and innovation leads across member institutions, fostering a collaborative network.  Support relevant GuildHE member networks, including the Knowledge Exchange, Innovation and Place network, promoting communication, collaboration, and best practice exchange to inform evidence-based policy development.

2. Member development: Provide support for timely implementation of good practice guidelines and associated resources, within agreed budgets. This includes assisting with members' business development initiatives, such as Research Degree Awarding Powers.

3. Event Delivery: Develop and deliver content for events including the GuildHE Research Consortium meetings, the Research and Knowledge Exchange Symposium, PGR Doctoral Festival, the PGR Network for global majority students and sandpits/match events, workshops and roundtables. 

4. Shared Services: Collaborate with other GHE teammates to maintain and deliver our shared services (i.e. research outputs repository, shared postgraduate online training, research impact tracking and researcher development tools) and explore new services in response to members’ needs

5. PGR Students: Develop and deliver initiatives for postgraduate students and early career researchers (e.g., our PGR Support Programme and associated student networks), working closely with the Policy Manager (Student Experience) to ensure postgraduate students are reflected in broader student support policies.

1. Actively support the delivery of the GuildHE strategy.

2. To contribute positively to a small, professional team focused on delivering excellence in their members’ interests.

3. Support GuildHE events and communication activities as appropriate - including campaigns, writing articles, blogs and press releases.

4. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders at HE institutions and sector agencies, including senior leaders, academics, and policy staff.

5. Gather feedback from HE institutions and use this to inform the continuous improvement of our services.

6. Demonstrate a proactive approach to embedding EDI principles within all policy development and advocacy efforts.

7. Represent GuildHE externally on a range of HE sector groups and projects and deputise for the Head of Research Policy or the Policy Manager (Skills, Innovation and International) as appropriate.

Role Purpose 

As Payroll Lead, you will manage HOST’s global payroll operations — ensuring that all staff, contractors, and hosted partners are paid accurately, compliantly, and on time. 

You will bring structure, care, and precision to one of HOST’s most essential services: ensuring the people driving climate and social action receive the financial stability they need to do their best work. 

This role supports both internal HOST staff and hosted partners, liaising across HR, Finance, and Community Support to deliver secure, compliant, and efficient payroll management. You will also help develop new systems and processes as HOST expands internationally, ensuring our operations remain smooth, transparent, and aligned with local legislation. 

Core Responsibilities 

1. Payroll Management 

• Manage all aspects of monthly payroll for UK and international employees, contractors, and hosted partner staff. 

• Prepare and process payroll changes (new hires, terminations, pay adjustments) in line with internal procedures. 

• Ensure timely submission of payroll information to Finance and external providers. 

• Reconcile payroll each month, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.

2. Compliance and Record-Keeping 

• Ensure full compliance with UK employment law, tax regulations, and international payroll requirements in collaboration with external providers. 

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee and contractor records. 

• Support statutory reporting, including PAYE, HMRC, and pension submissions. 

• Liaise with HOST’s Finance Team on audits and compliance reviews.

3. System Management and Improvement 

• Maintain and improve digital payroll systems, ensuring data accuracy and secure integration with Finance and HR tools. 

• Support the development of HOSTHub payroll features and automation processes with the Tech Team. 

• Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and strengthen reporting.

4. Contractor and International Payroll Support 

• Coordinate with the Community Support and Finance Teams to process international contractor payments, ensuring correct deductions and documentation. 

• Liaise with local payroll providers and Employer of Record (EoR) partners to ensure compliance in each jurisdiction. 

• Track and report on cross-border payroll performance and issue resolution.

5. HR and Staff Support 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll queries from staff and contractors, providing clear and timely responses. 

• Collaborate with the HR & Operations teams to ensure policies and processes reflect payroll updates and legislation.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join IRMO as our Youth Project Coordinator and lead the Latin American Youth Forum (LAYF) – IRMO’s youth-led group for migrant and refugee young people aged 13–19.

LAYF offers a safe, supportive and trilingual space (Spanish, Portuguese and English) where young people can overcome barriers and begin to find their feet in the UK. Activities are designed to build confidence, support integration and foster leadership. Through the programme, participants can learn English through fun and engaging ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes, take part in weekly educational, arts-based and themed workshops, and receive one-to-one support through a targeted coaching programme focused on education, volunteering and employment.

Young people also have the opportunity to join the LAYF Youth Steering Group, where they can develop leadership skills and inspire other Spanish and Portuguese-speaking young people, while exploring London and beyond through cultural trips and residentials.

As Youth Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for registering and onboarding new participants, designing and delivering a creative weekly programme of LAYF Space Workshops, and offering one-to-one mentoring to help young people access opportunities and build confidence. You’ll work closely with IRMO’s ESOL and Advice and Advocacy teams to ensure a joined-up and holistic approach.

This is a varied role that requires empathy, creativity and excellent organisational skills. You will play a key part in ensuring all activities are inclusive, engaging and safe, while monitoring progress and capturing the achievements of the young people involved. LAYF is delivered as part of Building Young Brixton (BYB), a consortium of ten Lambeth-based organisations working together to inspire and empower young people in the borough. Partnership working is central to the LAYF ethos, and the Youth Project Coordinator will collaborate closely with BYB partners to co-create activities, share skills and strengthen impact.

About the role

We are seeking an effective and successful Philanthropy professional with a passion for international development, to take a pivotal role in enabling Christian Aid to fight global poverty, inequality and injustice in the year ahead, by supporting us to deliver against our ambitious income targets.

The post holder will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to existing donors, and they will also be expected to proactively engage new prospects to grow Christian Aid's reach and impact, with a particular focus on securing 5 and 6-figure gifts. The post holder will manage a portfolio of supporters/potential supporters (primarily major donors but the portfolio also includes trusts and wealth advisors). The portfolio is predominantly based in Scotland but there are also a handful of supporters beyond this geographic focus.

The position will work closely with Scotland team colleagues, and will be part of the Philanthropy team which manages relationships with donors around the UK. The role will report into the Senior Philanthropy Advisor who is based in North England.

With a solid track record of successful fundraising from Major Donors or in a related area of fundraising, you will have excellent relationship buildings skills and be a highly-effective communicator, with the ability to inspire and engage supporters. The 4 Day Week Foundation lead the UK's national campaign for a four-day working week. We are campaigning across the UK for a four-day, 32 hour working week with no loss of pay for workers.

With the four-day week now firmly on the agenda in the UK as a viable policy change to improve wellbeing and productivity, and with hundreds of companies and tens of thousands of workers already benefitting, the organisation is moving into the next phase of its four-day week rollout, building on the progress made so far.

This is an exciting full time role working four days per week (28 hours) leading one of the UK’s most prominent campaigns. You will be responsible for leading a small staff team, punching above its weight in terms of impact. You will be supported on organisational strategy by the Board of Directors.​

Core Strategic Responsibilities​

• Lead and manage the organisation’s day-to-day operations, ensuring effective delivery of agreed strategic objectives and campaigns, working closely with the Board of Directors on organisational priorities.

• Lead organisational fundraising strategy and income generation, including the development of funding opportunities and relationships with donors and partners.

• Act as the primary media spokesperson for the organisation, managing press engagement and representing the Foundation across broadcast, print and digital media.

• Represent the organisation as a spokesperson at public events, conferences, panel discussions and external engagements.

• Lead on external stakeholder engagement, building and maintaining strong relationships with partner organisations, supporters, campaign allies and other key stakeholders.

• Oversee the Foundation’s engagement with employers and the business community

Operational Management

• Line manage two – three staff

• Plan, chair, and facilitate weekly team meetings to support collaboration and organisational priorities.

• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with staff and oversee six-monthly performance and development appraisals.

• Coordinate an Annual General Meeting (AGM), including the timely organisation of all related invitations, agendas and arrangements.

• Promote collaborative, inclusive and sustainable working practices consistent with the 4DWF’s values.​

Administrative​

• Oversee organisational finances and budgeting processes, ensuring effective financial planning and accountability.

• Responsibility for ensuring the general enquiries inbox is regularly monitored and that all enquiries are responded to promptly by the team.

• Attend quarterly Board meetings to update Directors on progress made towards delivery of strategic objectives and campaigns​

We are currently looking for a Campaigner to join our Campaigns and Movement Building team. The initial focus of this role will be on the Stop Rosebank campaign, then shifting to an exciting new climate change campaign in 2027. 

You’ll be working with a small internal team, and with partners from across the expansive Stop Rosebank network. You will help to deliver campaign actions utilising a variety of tactics, and will support allied groups to deliver their own actions across the UK.

We anticipate using the latter half of this year to develop a new climate campaign which this role would be a part of.

Core responsibilities will include:

• Campaign delivery: Supporting the development and execution of campaign activities, using a variety of tactics in collaboration with key partners and Uplift’s Campaigns team, both online and offline.

• Event and action planning and delivery: Organising and facilitating meetings, events, and actions with groups of diverse partners and stakeholders, in collaboration with the Uplift team.

• Coalition care and support: Maintaining relationships and being a central point of contact for individuals and groups active in our campaigns.

• Public representation: Supporting the public representation of the campaign including  for the campaign to the media and in public events
