A note on use of AI We recognise that AI tools can be genuinely useful for organising thoughts or checking spelling and grammar, and we've no objection to that. That said, what matters most to us is hearing directly from you. We are interested in your own experiences, your own voice, your own reasoning. So please only use AI, if at all, to help plan your response or check it afterwards, not to generate the substance of your answers. Ultimately, we want to know how you think and communicate, not how well an AI can do it for you.

Contract: Permanent
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting people and contributing to practical service improvements in a charity with a clear purpose.
About the Role
As an IT Service Desk Analyst, you will be at the heart of the colleague technology experience, providing responsive 1st and 2nd line support and helping people get the best from the systems, devices and tools they rely on every day. You will take ownership of incidents and service requests from initial logging through to resolution or appropriate escalation, balancing technical troubleshooting with clear communication and excellent customer service.
You will support a broad range of activity including hardware, software, Microsoft 365, user access, asset management, operational projects and service improvement. The role offers the chance to build strong knowledge of our organisation, contribute to better ways of working and play an important part in keeping our people connected, productive and supported.
About You
Are you someone who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting colleagues and taking ownership of work through to a clear outcome? Do you communicate confidently with people at different levels of technical understanding, stay calm under pressure and take pride in providing a professional, helpful service?
If you have experience in an IT service desk or technical support environment, good working knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365, and the ability to prioritise, troubleshoot and escalate appropriately, we would love to hear from you. Experience with service desk tools, Active Directory or Entra ID, hardware troubleshooting, remote support, ITIL-aligned processes or supporting geographically dispersed colleagues would be especially valuable.
About the Team
You will join a friendly, knowledgeable and collaborative IT team that is focused on delivering reliable, practical and people-centred support. We work closely with colleagues across Help for Heroes, helping them use technology confidently so they can focus on supporting the Armed Forces community.
The team values clear communication, shared knowledge, continuous improvement and a supportive approach to problem solving. This is a great opportunity to develop your technical skills, contribute ideas and make a visible difference to the way IT services are delivered across the charity.
In return we can offer you:
Closing date: Sunday 16th Aug 2026 (applications may be closed early if we receive a high number of strong applications).
Interview Process: Competency-based interview, which will be held in person, on Tuesday 25th Aug 2026.
We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Job Purpose
Sequence ME & Long Covid is one of the most ambitious whole-genome sequencing studies ever undertaken into ME and Long Covid, co-led by Action for ME. Building on the success of DecodeME, this proposed £20 million study will use large-scale, long-read whole-genome sequencing to analyse the entire genetic code of 9,000 people with ME and 9,000 people with Long Covid - making it the world's largest 'long-read' whole-genome sequencing study of any disease.
Current funding supports project mobilisation, partnership development, and the development of the Long Covid arm of the study, including agreeing case definitions and gathering expressions of interest from people with Long Covid. Phase 2 has recently been confirmed, backed by £4.75m from the UK government and a further £174,414 from the WE&ME Foundation, and will focus on sequencing 6,000 ME/CFS samples previously collected through DecodeME using Oxford Nanopore's long-read sequencing technology, running alongside Phase 1.
You will play a pivotal role supporting the Sequence ME & Long Covid project in several different ways. Working closely with the project's management team and other team members, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of this landmark study, providing administrative support to the various people and partners involved in delivering it.
As a self-starter, you will manage a range of tasks including meeting scheduling, taking meeting minutes, preparing governance documents, event administration, and broader project support - no two days will be the same.
You will need to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, particularly when supporting governance meetings and handling sensitive project documentation.
As a team player, you will provide comprehensive, confidential and organised administrative support, developing a deep understanding of the project and building strong, effective working relationships with colleagues, researchers and external partners.
Remote working at home can be challenging for some and works incredibly well for others. You will need to be able to work independently, use your own initiative, and remain proactive in maintaining good levels of communication with colleagues.
