The Trustees of John Wesley’s New Room seek an Executive Director to lead the organisation into the next exciting phase of its development. This role will suit someone who is a generalist, comfortable turning their hand to a variety of tasks and is equally happy contributing at a board meeting or engaging with visitors in the chapel. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills who can lead the staff and volunteers with confidence, cultivate a positive working culture, develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders and provide strategic leadership for the next phase of John Wesley’s New Room.
Our small staff team has undergone significant change in the past year to align with the future needs of the organisation. The Trustees expect this to continue in support of the newly refreshed strategy which will see a greater role for JWNR nationally and internationally, as well as playing an increasing role in the new Broadmead community following the anticipated redevelopment works in the local area, from retail to a more mixed residential and leisure offering. Having finalised a vision, we are looking for someone to lead the organisation through this change, laying a solid foundation on a practical and cultural level to then build upon for the future, creating more links with local communities as well as the wider Methodist church.
John Wesley’s New Room is the oldest Methodist building in the world (Grade I listed) and is a small but busy place where no two days are the same. Offering a chapel, museum and cafe by day, we also have meetings rooms and event spaces for hire, and welcome visitors both local and international on a regular basis. An important piece of Bristol’s history, the New Room is where Methodism started and the museum and collection tell the story of John Wesley. In addition, we manage a second museum Charles Wesley’s House, a short walk from the main site, which is mainly used for tour groups.

This is a senior communications and public affairs role at The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) at a pivotal moment for human rights in the UK. Our client's Assertive Contact and Engagement (ACE) Service works with people with mental health needs who face barriers to support, and are not actively engaged with other mental health services. They operate across Bristol supporting people and communities that may have had difficulty accessing services that fully meet their needs in the past.
Working within their ACE team offers a unique opportunity to work creatively, and shape the provision for clients while working alongside another Clinical Psychologist.
The ACE Clinical Psychologist provides clinical leadership to the service as well as delivering therapy in a psychologically-led, trauma-informed mental health engagement service. The ACE service provides home- or community-based support/social interventions and location-based therapy for people who would otherwise need statutory mental health services, but who experience barriers such as multiple/chronic exclusion, complex trauma, personality disorder, and so-called ‘chaotic behaviours’ that would likely make current statutory services inaccessible for them. Key aspects of the role include:
- Provide clinical leadership for the service.
- Lead, line manage and deliver the therapy aspect of the service.
- Lead and provide psychological assessments, formulations and interventions in group and one-to-one settings.

We are seeking a Business Development & Partnerships Manager for Sequence ME & Long Covid, a new research initiative designed to explore the root causes of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and Long Covid using large-scale, long-read whole-genome sequencing.
By developing and delivering strategic partnerships and funding strategy, you will work as part of team committed to making change happen through whole genome sequencing (WGS) of 18,000 people, the largest ever WGS in the world of any disease.
Sequence ME & Long Covid aims to pinpoint potential targets for treatment and bring us closer to meaningful clinical advances. Led by Action for ME, the partnership includes the University of Edinburgh, Oxford Nanopore Technology (who will provide the long-read technology), the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) and people with lived experience of ME, who have joined to seek funding for Sequence ME and Long Covid. Together, this multidisciplinary team brings world-class expertise in genomics, bioinformatics, co-production and ME research.

Overall Purpose
The Project Manager will work with NHS member charities and key stakeholders to design, lead and manage a high-profile programme of activity alongside key partners and those with lived experience to create memorial reflection spaces for communities most impacted by COVID-19. This is referred to in this document at the ‘Reflection Spaces’ project.
You will bring a dynamic, can do approach to support the design and delivery of the Reflection Spaces project, ensuring collaboration across a wide range of stakeholders, including our identified NHS Member Charities, voluntary sector organisations, funders, evaluators and government officials to create beautiful high quality and reflective spaces supportive of those experiencing bereavement with creative elements to mark their significance.
It involves working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including our member charities, NHS trusts, funders, evaluators, and government officials, and ensuring initiatives are delivered successfully.
Overall Objectives
To support the design and implementation of new sensory reflection spaces that create a living memory and legacy for communities of those lost during the pandemic. The new COVID-19 memorials will be created across the country that reflect the importance of green spaces to the nation during the pandemic for health and wellbeing, and to bring people together in remembrance and commemoration to those who have experienced loss.
To convene and engage stakeholders to inform the national elements of the project including development of the creative brief, ensuring a golden thread that brings all of the locally funded projects together.
You will coordinate teams, stakeholders and partners to ensure high quality delivery, excellent interpretation and relevance through codesign to represent the user needs from established steering and engagement groups to ensure quality and impact.
You may also be required to oversee other NHS Charities Together initiatives successfully so they deliver on their objectives, managing stakeholders, and are delivered on time and to budget - in particular the Green Communities project, which is an existing grant programme with NHS Charities to create and improve green spaces and help improve the nation’s health.
Key Responsibilities
Project Design and Development
- Work with the Programme Leads and SRO to develop the Reflection Spaces project from design to implementation considering sustainability and legacy of local project design and implementation with NHS charity members.
- Managing high profile stakeholder relationships and partners across government, horticultural partners and bereavement organisations to codesign the programme of activity and/or high level design brief to guide local project delivery.
- Establish evaluation requirements for the programme and projects delivered at a local level and in line with partners involved, leading processes to convene, capture and share evidence, data and insight to support knowledge of impact for users of the spaces. Commission and manage external evaluations where appropriate, ensuring quality and alignment with project aims.
- Plan funding aspects of the programme allocating awards to chosen NHS Charities able to support the requirements of the spaces as per brief.

Delivery and Management

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

Creative Arts Installation
- Lead the creative arts commissioning aspects of the Reflection Spaces project in collaboration with partners to ensure spaces have interpretation and recognition around their purpose and also any installation artwork featuring across all sites acting as the golden thread for the programme.
- Identify and build effective relationships with new stakeholders and funders who are required for the artistic aspects of the Reflection Spaces project to support ambition, working collaboratively to secure income such Arts Council applications or equivalent for the devolved nations such as Creative Scotland.
- Establish creative steering groups that help to codesign artistic aspects that will establish interpretation of the spaces and create a ‘golden thread’ unifying the spaces

BPT is looking to recruit a Head of Finance who will manage a small finance team and be responsible for the financial systems and accounting of BPT and its 3 subsidiaries to ensure the sound financial management of these organisations.

The ACE Clinical Psychologist provides clinical leadership to the service as well as delivering therapy in a psychologically-led, trauma-informed mental health engagement service. The ACE service provides home- or community-based support/social interventions and location-based therapy for people who would otherwise need statutory mental health services, but who experience barriers such as multiple/chronic exclusion, complex trauma, personality disorder, and so-called ‘chaotic behaviours’ that would likely make current statutory services inaccessible for them. Key aspects of the role include:
- Provide clinical leadership for the service
- Lead, line manage and deliver the therapy aspect of the service.
- Lead and provide psychological assessments, formulations and interventions in group and one-to-one settings.
- Work in close partnership with the Service Manager and other managers to ensure that all aspects of the service are fully psychologically informed.
This post is offered on a part time basis (30 hours per week), to include Tuesdays and Fridays, with other days to be agreed.
About you
We are looking for a Psychologist with a passion for working with individuals and groups who face inequalities in accessing substance use and / or mental health services; and for developing services that are fully responsive to their needs.
You will also be experienced in supporting staff (psychologists and/or non-qualified staff) who are working with clients who experience complex trauma, substance use and homelessness – to foster psychological ideas and interventions.
You will hold a doctorate level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and be eligible for or hold chartered status with BPS.

Job Summary
This is a three-year National Lottery funded role which will support ReMind’s post diagnosis support team to deliver and further develop a programme of interventions and resources for those diagnosed with dementia, their carers and families in communities in BA2, BA3 and BS31. This role is key to supporting delivery of a suite of annual activities including courses, events, information days and peer support sessions. ReMind UK overview
ReMind UK is an independent charity and internationally renowned centre for research, diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Our research aims to improve life for people with dementia and their families and carers, and to find drug and non-drug treatments for people with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and other diseases predominantly affecting older people. Our contracted NHS Memory Clinic service, private memory assessments and allied activities provide support to people affected. We are currently in an ambitious phase of organizational development increasing our impact through clinical and academic research and our post diagnosis support. We work closely with the Universities of Bath, Bristol and other research Institutions, both nationally and internationally and with the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
The Role
This is an exciting and varied role which will suit an organised and compassionate individual who loves working face to face with groups and supporting people to live their best life. You’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to engage people in activities ensuring the person with dementia can fully participate as well as carers. As Facilitator, you will use your insight into what works best in supporting those affected by cognitive impairment to support design of our interventions for people diagnosed with a memory condition and those who care for them. You will work closely with staff, volunteers, partners and beneficiaries to deliver accessible, safe and supportive events and course sessions, ensuring that people who engage with the post-diagnosis support programme, connect with others with shared experience, are adequately supported to take part and have fun, and receive appropriate resources to help them to live well with dementia for as long as possible.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver friendly, stimulating, person-centred interventions on behalf of ReMind UK, including courses in local community venues, seasonal group activities and events and Carers Information Days as agreed with the Programme Manager.
2. Take responsibility for opening up, clearing up and locking venues as required.
3. Manage volunteers during sessions ensuring roles are organized and volunteers briefed on activities and schedule.
4. Facilitate sessions including welcoming participants,, greeting guest speakers, introducing and setting up activities, supporting participants and ensuring everyone is able to fully participate with the support of staff and volunteers.
5. Gather feedback from groups and adjust activities or session content and timings as needed to ensure that interventions are tailored to the group and individual needs and preferences are met.
6. Support the Project Team through contributing insight and experience from working closely with beneficiaries in a variety of venues to design year-round evidence-based interventions that meet the needs of participants and funders.
7. Working with the Programme Manager, support awareness raising, researching, initiating and maintaining partnerships with local community groups, health care providers and stakeholders to ensure ReMind UK maximizes reach and creates adequate awareness of the post-diagnosis support programme.
8. Ensure that materials and resources used at events, groups and courses are requested and purchased in good time and taken to each intervention.
9. Work with the Project Team to ensure attendance and evaluation data is captured at each intervention, allowing time for collection of feedback from participants and ensuring data is accurately captured through processes set out by the Programme Manager for reporting to funders and for continuous improvement of interventions.
10. Contribute to the production of Risk Assessments and mitigations to ensure safeguarding of beneficiaries during interventions.
11. Act on and disseminate any feedback or complaints from beneficiaries using insight to inform changes to interventions or delivery and if a complaint, report to the wider Project Team and manage in accordance with the complaints procedure.
12. Speak to beneficiaries expressing an interest or being referred to the programme to ensure they are appropriately allocated a suitable event or course
13. Gather stories, testimonials and images from interventions and keep up to date records of permissions for use, ensuring these are communicated with the team and input onto the CRM.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Milestones Trust Mental Health Division as a Service Manager, overseeing the management of a cluster of four established services in central Bristol.
Cranbrook Road, Northumberland Road and Coronation Road are registered residential homes in Redland and Southville while Linden Rd is a supported living project in Westbury Park. Three of the four services are within ten minutes’ walk of each other. There are a total of 16 registered and 4 unregistered beds across the cluster and the Service Manager has the support of 2 full-time Service Coordinators to ensure the day-to-day delivery of the service is effective and efficient. The services provide individualized recovery services for people with complex mental health needs, with the aim of enabling people to graduate to step-down accommodation when they are ready.
As a Service Manager you will be accountable for the safe, cost-effective and personalised running of the services in line with Milestone Trust’s values and organisational priorities. You will lead your teams to meet all compliance requirements and consistently meet and exceed service KPIs as you develop and implement your vision for the services.
As the Service Manager you will:
- Have extensive knowledge of working with people who have complex and enduring mental health needs
- Have extensive experience of managing risk in a Social Care setting
- Have previous experience of leading and developing teams
- Be able to work alongside your team to coach individuals and provide a positive and professional role model to all staff
- Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, people we support and a range of stake holders, family and friends
