British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Executive Assistant (Governance Officer).
The post holder will work closely with elected Officers, the board and CEO to support delivery of BASHH core membership services and ensure the highest standards of governance and oversight. The first port of call for many BASHH members, this person will have a key role in supporting excellent member services and communications. Their support will enable the President, CEO and Officers to lead effectively in their respective areas.

The post-holder will be responsible for deliver a range of support interventions for people newly diagnosed with HIV, and those re-engaging in their HIV care, who may be identified via Emergency Department Opt-Out testing in Liverpool.
Collaboratively work with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUFHT) to ensure people living with HIV receive practical, social and emotional support. The delivery of peer support in a clinic setting and, in the community, and onward referrals to relevant services.
Ensure that people living with HIV in vulnerable circumstances are supported to minimise the risk of them returning to ‘need to find’ status and remain engaged in services.
We seek someone with experience working with diverse communities. Knowledge and understanding of the common experiences and need of people living with HIV is essential.
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification (such as an NVQ Level 3 or above in social work, health, education) or equivalent experience, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a commitment to supporting empowerment through casework. Casework Service at ASSIST Sheffield
ASSIST Sheffield offers holistic support to over 50 people at a time that live in Sheffield and South Yorkshire and who have been refused asylum in the UK. Our casework forms part of the wrap-around support we offer to our clients and is intended to complement our other services such as accommodation and limited financial support and is in line with ASSIST’s vision ‘for all people seeking asylum in Sheffield to live life with dignity and hope for the future’.
ASSIST is always seeking to develop better ways of working with clients, to get the best possible outcomes for their future. At the heart of this is our 3-stage journey of tailored support and guidance for clients throughout their time at ASSIST which has been co-designed by our service users:

The Casework Coordinator role is key to enabling this transition to occur without compromising on client care.
We are a friendly and supportive team and service; working to do our bit to counter the hostile environment. Our Casework service embodies values of empowerment, respect and (striving for) social justice.
We want clients to be able to access casework support in order to address issues in a timely, supportive, informative and friendly manner. Our focus is on connecting people to opportunities, knowledge and services so they are able to access these and resolve their issues as independently as possible. If people need support to access their rights and entitlements, we will be alongside them to advocate to the best of our ability, for the best outcome.
We operate casework sessions twice a week and we have direct contact with all ASSIST clients via our monthly Welfare Sessions; in which money, essential provisions and more light-touch casework support (issues that can be progressed within 15 minutes) are available to every client.

Background
The Maypole Project supports children and young people with complex medical needs and their families across the UK. Our vision is that all families with a child with complex medical needs will have access to our support from diagnosis, for as long as they need.
Our unique model provides emotional and wellbeing support through counselling and therapy services for parents/carers, siblings and other adults involved in caring for a young person with complex medical needs. We provide counselling and play therapy for children and young people with complex medical needs, a youth club, buddying and activity programmes which are also open to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The Maypole Project has been providing vital services to families for over 21 years and is in an exciting phase of development. We are recruiting a qualified and experienced Child Therapist to meet the growing demand for support, and to grow and extend our provision to meet the needs of more families who would benefit from our unique model of support.
Overall purpose:
To provide appropriate, professional and responsive therapeutic support to children (the child/ren who have complex medical needs and/or their siblings) in 1:1 sessions through the integration of counselling with therapeutic creative and play skills.
Role responsibilities:
Children, who have been assessed by an experienced member of the project’s counselling team, and with parental consent, will be referred on to the post holder who will:
· Work to The Maypole Project Model of Support for children and young people, providing therapeutic support through an integration of counselling with therapeutic creative and play with a caseload as agreed, relative to hours at a minimum of 5 clients per 7 hour working day.
- Undertake The Maypole Project mandatory in-house training (20 hours)
- Attend a training update session at least once per annum
- Contact the client’s parent/guardian organising an initial 1:1 meeting with them to talk through the issues their child faces and agree the time, location and frequency of sessions in line with Maypole Support office guidelines/room availability where applicable.
· Set up and clear away the therapy room that has been tailored to each individual client’s needs.
- Attend monthly group supervision (2 hours)
- Complete client notes and The Maypole Project paperwork as required
- Liaise with their Line manager or the Clinical Supervisor in case of questions/difficulties
- Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines including staff code of conduct at all times.
- Attend service-wide activities including family activity events and fundraising events
Support:
You will have support from our Children and Young People’s Therapies service manager for clinical oversight and day-to-day issues and a supervisor for Clinical advice/direction. Attendance at monthly Clinical Supervision is mandatory.
Location:
Initially based at our premises in Orpington with some remote provision and possible travel to schools, hospitals, hospices and clients’ homes.

Key Responsibilities
Programme Coordination
- Lead and coordinate the Baking, Wellbeing, and Life Skills Programme, ensuring alignment with Bramber Bakehouse’s mission, vision, values, and theory of change.
- Oversee and support the team, working closely with the baking and wellbeing facilitators and volunteers to deliver the programme to a high standard.
- Ensure the programme pathway, from referral to graduation, runs smoothly, creating a welcoming and safe environment for every woman attending.
- Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns to the Service Manager, in accordance with Bramber Bakehouse’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure the programme is delivered within a person centred and trauma informed approach.
- Have oversight of the established programme curriculum and improvements to it.
- Have thorough knowledge of the wellbeing and life skills workshop materials, and provide session cover for the wellbeing facilitator when needed.
- Oversee the physical set-up and pack down of each programme session, in line with location risk assessments and hygiene standards.
- Lead logistics and forward planning for yearly programme cycles with location partners.
- Support early identification of progression pathways, working with and handing over to the Progression Programmes Lead.
- Coordinate data collection, entry, and analysis to monitor and evaluate the programme, sharing insights and development actions with the team and Service Manager.

Referral Process
- Coordinate and administer the referral process, coordinating its launch, reviewing and assessing applications and handling follow-up communications with referrers and applicants.

- Arrange and complete applicant interviews (with the Service Manager), preparing applicants for the programme.

Referral Partners
- Ensure good communication and ongoing partnership working with new and existing organisations referring women into the programme.
- Periodically, attend in person Bramber Bakehouse Open House events to promote the programme.
- Deliver online Open House sessions for referrers.
- If and when capacity allows, network with new potential referral partners.
Volunteer Coordination and Support
- Support volunteers during the programme sessions.
- Provide group and, if needed, one to one supervision meetings for volunteers.
- Work with the Service Manager to recruit volunteers when required.
- Deliver pre-existing volunteer induction training.
- Ensure volunteers who move on have a good ending to their time with Bramber Bakehouse and an opportunity to give feedback about their experiences. This includes collecting exit survey responses.
Programme Administration
- Be the main point of contact and liaison for students attending the baking, wellbeing & life skill programme.
- Organise student travel, getting to and from the programme.
- Working with the programme facilitators, prepare session materials according to the needs of the group.
- Facilitate each programme session debrief, keeping clear notes and following up on actions.
- Monitor and record the progression of students during the programme.
- Prepare agendas for, and keep clear notes of, pre and post programme planning meetings.
- Tracking and completing follow up actions.
- Provide some admin support for the baking facilitator (you do not need to have experience of baking and will not be required to demonstrate any baking skills).
- Ensure location risk assessments are reviewed and up to date (or completed for new locations).

About Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Support Team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, our teams support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
About the role
Family Support Workers (FSW) are the frontline of our care. Each FSW holds a caseload of end-of-life and bereaved families. They get to know their families, and check-in regularly with phone calls and home visits and can provide enhanced emotional support where required through more regular contact and interventions. Our FSWs tell families about the many services they can access at Shooting Star, assess their needs and make recommendations to our multi-disciplinary team. They support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible.
Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.
The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:
· Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.
· Helping with support groups and family events
· Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.
· Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes.
· Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).
· Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.
· Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.
· Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.
· Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.
The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.
The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Twice a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.

This role requires experience of working with children and families who have experienced hardship, or those with complex needs. Purpose of the role:
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our Finance function in its day-to-day operations. This role is key to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting payment processing, and ensuring robust financial administration. You will work closely with the Head of Finance and play a critical role in supporting internal processes and contributing to the effective financial management of The Churchill Fellowship.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Processing and Bookkeeping
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties and ensure timely and accurate data entry
- Process supplier invoices and Fellows' grant payments via the purchase ledger
- Prepare weekly payment runs and ensure payments are accurate, authorised and recorded
- Manage and reconcile credit card transactions and receipts
- Manage the Finance@ inbox, respond to queries, and escalate issues where appropriate
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions, including bills, payments, and expenses
Bank and Account Reconciliations
- Reconcile all bank accounts on a monthly basis
- Reconcile credit card accounts monthly and ensure supporting documentation is complete
- Reconcile investment accounts and balances each month
- Support monthly income and expenditure reporting to assist internal financial monitoring
Registers and Schedules
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register in Xero and ensure assets are correctly recorded

System Updates
- Update financial records in Salesforce, including recording of grant payment dates
- Support the audit process by preparing accurate financial records and providing documentation

About you and the role
This is a pivotal role, at a pivotal moment for us. We are entering a critical growth phase, which includes rapidly expanding our own operations and managing significant external partnership. As Head of Finance & Systems, you will be accountable for ensuring we have the right systems and structures in place to grow at pace without detriment to good governance.
The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained.
You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 24 employees and anticipate growing significantly in the next twelve months. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance.
You will oversee all financial administration, ensuring this is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
As an ISVA within The Angelou Centre you will be part of our front-line team providing emotional and trauma informed support to women and children experiencing gender based domestic abuse. The primary responsibility of all advocates within The Angelou is to provide women and children with continuous one-to-one support, practical advice and advocacy, such as writing referrals for women to access the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). Much of this work takes the form of casework, and report writing, as well as ensuring that the women receive comprehensive support that addresses their health, social care, housing, immigration and benefit-related needs. All advocates are required to spent at least 30% of your time will be spent on outreach work to engage with communities that may not have heard of The Angelou Centre.
Specific to the ISVA role, is to provide tailored support, advice and advocacy to women who are or have been victims of sexual abuse and exploitation. Alongside this you will support The Angelou Centre in raising awareness of sexual education through outreach activities, ensuring services are accessible to women of the Black and racialised community.
Our ideal candidate is someone who;
- Is confident and pro-active in advocating on behalf of our survivors and able to represent their needs when working with partner agencies
- Is compassionate, non-judgmental and committed to supporting survivors of domestic abuse
- Has excellent written skills with some experience of casework within legal, healthcare or an educational setting.
- Has experience of conducting risk and needs assessments within legal, healthcare or an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
Advice and Advocacy Support
- Provide tailored, one-to-one continuous support, advice, and advocacy to black and minoritised victims and survivors of sexual violence and exploitation
- Provide weekly drop-in opportunities for black and racially minoritized women in the local area
- Support improved mental wellbeing and resilience, measured using Warwick Edinburgh Mental Well Being Scale and the Chaos Index for those with complex needs.
- To be aware of external service processes to safeguard individuals who are exposed to sexual exploitation.
Outreach Support
- To attend external team meetings and presentations in relevant forums and partnerships
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with key organisations and their staff to support women to gain access to the services they require.
Casework
- Complete regular risk assessment tools for each case supported and risk management plans, including DASH RIC assessments.
- Complete reports, to assist Line Manager in providing detailed reports to funders
- Maintain in depth and up-to-date knowledge of all practice, procedures and policies.
- To deal with complaints, feedback and suggestions and identifying practical solutions to any barriers.
ISVA Specific
- To set up and maintain services to women in custody who are experiencing and/or are at risk of Sexual exploitation.
- To develop specialist knowledge in the area of sex work and sexual exploitation, and how this impacts women from Black and racialized minorities differently, through attendance at relevant training, learning events and conferences
- Raise awareness on sexual education through outreach activities, ensuring services are accessible to those with protected characteristics and/or facing multiple disadvantages.
- Help improve local services understanding of the dynamics of sexual exploitation and the long-term impact.
- Support police when undertaking visits to brothels to assist with safeguarding women who are experiencing Sexual exploitation.
In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties however, will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade. This job description will be subjected to review with the post holder, to ensure that it accurately reflects the duties and range of the post. The aim is to improve the quality of service for black and racialized women and all matters relating to their wellbeing.
Person Specification
Experience & Abilities
- Experience of supporting women who have experienced or are at risk of sexual abuse and violence
- Experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, particularly with clients with complex/multiple needs
- Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders; particularly social care.
- Experience of managing a high caseload
- Strong IT skills with experience around data collection and monitoring
- Excellent written abilities, with some experience within preparing reports for courts, case conference and information for MARAC
- Experience around setting clear professional boundaries with clients and partners
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team and with statutory organisations
Knowledge & Qualifications
- An excellent understanding of sexual violence
- An excellent understanding of UK policies and legislation around sexual abuse
- Good working knowledge of UK adult safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation.
- Safeguarding Adults and Children Level 1
- A good understanding of confidentiality and anti-discriminatory practice; safe practice and health and safety procedures
