Membership & Communications Manager

3-4 days per week

£35,000-£45,000 pro rata and subject to experience

Mainly remote (at least initially), with in-person attendance required at monthly team meetings and in-person membership related events which may take place at differing locations, across the UK.

Formed in 2021, the School Partnerships Alliance (S.P.A.) is an independent, non-politically aligned membership and delivery organisation which supports and promotes impactful, sustainable and mutually beneficial cross-sector school partnerships. Purpose of the Role

The Membership & Communications Manager is a new part time role at the School Partnerships Alliance, reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with our Executive Assistant. You will join us at an exciting time as we develop our new organisational strategy and expand our current school membership offer. As this is a new position this post does not currently have direct reports, but there may be an opportunity to recruit additional team member(s) as the organisation continues to grow over the next 12-18 months. You will be required to work closely with both our CEO and Director of Programmes and Research to lead on the development and delivery of the membership strategy, both stewarding and growing our membership base year on year. You will also be required to manage our new website, provide support with our social media, and ensure that all member communications align with both our brand values and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a new, robust membership strategy that supports the S.P.A.’s key objectives. This will include new member acquisition, current member retention and ensuring that stewardship of school members is effective and fit for purpose. You will work with the Director of Programmes and Research to help deliver a credible school partnerships CPD programme and collaborate with the wider S.P.A. team to create a tangible, attractive membership offer (both on and off-line) that will bring schools together, challenge existing partnership practice and support new thinking.
• Actively identify, solicit and enrol new schools as members, building and maintaining an evolving pipeline of new membership prospects.
• Plan and prepare for meetings with current and potential members and accompany CEO and/or Director of Programmes and Research to cultivation meetings where appropriate.
• Be the first point of call for all members and with the support of the Executive Assistant to the CEO, oversee the processing of all new membership applications, renewals and invoices and ensure all enquiries from existing and prospective members are responded to in a timely manner.
• Work with the wider team to confirm a calendar of membership events across the school year. These will take place both online and/or in locations across the UK, so occasional travel will be required.
• Oversee the membership budget and provide quarterly income forecasts and reports to the CEO and Trustees, monitoring and reporting against income targets.
• Build and maintain partnerships with wider S.P.A. stakeholders to include external school membership organisations, MATs and S.P.A. trustees.
• Empower S.P.A. staff and our trustee board to support membership development, utilising their talents and networks effectively.
• Lead on the preparation of high-quality digital membership communication and related marketing and event materials.
• Oversee the establishment of an appropriate administration system to ensure effective membership tracking, due diligence, and to ensure that the S.P.A. has a robust, professional approach to member stewardship.
• Ensure all membership delivery complies with our internal protocols and all external regulations.
• To attend relevant S.P.A in person events.
• To be an active ambassador for the organisation and carry out any other related duties deemed commensurate with the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Passionate advocate for young people and a commitment to the School Partnerships Alliance’s central mission.
• A minimum of 3 years non-profit membership/communications/fundraising experience in a relevant role would be desirable.
• A proven track record of securing membership subsidies and/or donations from trusts and foundations, corporate partners and major donors.
• Excellent relationship and people management skills, varying your style to the needs of the audience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent team skills, strong listening and problem-solving abilities with a positive attitude.

To succeed, you will need experience of advice work which includes using a benefits calculator and signposting. The role also involves managing our telephone and email inbox into the advice service and obtaining feedback about the service from clients alongside initial advice giving. The role could include some short-term casework including concessionary travel claims when capacity allows.

You will need excellent communication skills and be unphased by people presenting with multiple issues, often in emotional distress. You’ll be excited by the challenge of learning new things and have a good knowledge of the services used by disabled people.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

We are now recruiting the team that will deliver Crisis at Christmas 2025. This unique project mobilises a huge volunteering effort to provide warmth, companionship and vital services in temporary centres across London to people facing homelessness.

Vacancies: We are hiring for three vacancies

Contract: Fixed Term Contact – starting 16 September 2025 until January/February 2026 (as required

Hours: 35 hours per week (some rota’d working to cover weekends and bank holidays over Christmas period)

Location: Canning Town Warehouse, Unit 4 SEGRO Park, London E16 4ES - three days per week onsite. Additional days and locations across London will be required during the Christmas period when our sites are operational.

About the role

We are looking for three new Project Assistants to support the delivery of a range of services our guests need to have a safe and happy Christmas. From healthcare and catering to advice and wellbeing services such as arts and crafts and salon, our services can make a real difference. You will support with the recruitment and management of Crisis at Christmas volunteers and external partners to help deliver services, ensuring teams have all the information and equipment they need. This is a varied role including processing volunteer applications, creating comms materials, managing and communicating schedules, organising training, organising and setting up kit, ensuring our teams of specialists have the equipment and materials they need as well as getting stuck in and helping out directly once our centres open.

This is great role to kickstart your career in the charity sector, as well as in project management or events roles.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have…

• Experience of providing administrative support and general office duties in a busy events or project-based environment
• Excellent spoken and written skills to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of audiences
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines in ambiguous or challenging situations
• Good attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tasks
• Experience of customer service and ability to deal with high volumes of enquiries via phone and email in a professional and friendly manner

Job Purpose 

BSR events are a key benefit to members and the wider rheumatology community, offering the very latest in science, innovation, research and cases.  

Our events team deliver the award-winning Annual Conference in a hybrid format to c2500 delegates, plus our Case-based Conference, as well as a programme of celebratory awards.  

This role sits within the Events team which is responsible for delivering BSR’s annual conferences and awards. The team of four includes the Head of Events, Events Manager, Digital Events Manager and the Events Executive, who assists in the planning and delivery of our hybrid and in-person events. You will work on a range of areas including registration, logistics, being the main point of contact for delegates, and liaising with venues and suppliers. This is an exciting role for someone looking to get more exposure to different areas of events and working with multiple stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage the registration process for BSR conferences, including online booking journey, managing CRM/registration systems, end to end customer service and reporting registration data insights.  
• Work with the Events Manager on the delivery of conference programmes and networking events.  
• Lead on event logistics including awards, abstract poster submissions, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation, accommodation, travel arrangements and speaker expenses. 
• Champion BSR’s values by leading on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and accessibility for conferences, working with venues and suppliers to ensure a positive experience for attendees.  
• Support the Events Manager and Business Development Manager with sponsor and exhibition deliverables on areas including registration and posters.

The Support Fund Team Leader plays a vital role in the smooth and effective running of our Support Fund Team at the MND Association. This is a key position, responsible for assisting the Support Fund Manager, co-ordinating daily tasks for the team, and helping to deliver a high-quality service to people living with and affected by MND. It calls for strong leadership, a thoughtful and supportive approach, and confidence working with people, data, and processes in a busy and rewarding environment.

The MND Association has provided over £1.5 million in support so far this year to around 2,000 people with MND. Demand is increasing, this role will be crucial in helping achieve further impact!

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate the rota and operational duties of the Support Fund Team
• Provide the team with support and supervision on a day-to-day basis
• Deliver training to new staff and provide mentoring to existing team members
• Act as the first point of contact for complex queries and support cases
• Oversee the processing of support grant applications in line with organisational policies
• Ensure accurate, up-to-date records are maintained and administrative procedures followed
• Support the team to make best use of our CRM system and improve internal processes

We are looking for an Executive Assistant to work within the Northern Ireland Directorate, Business Support Team. This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Floating Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire. This service will provide emergency accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. 

The post holder will provide high quality support and safety planning to survivors and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse. This includes enabling survivors to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice.  A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.

The Floating Support Worker (FSW) will carry a caseload of survivors of domestic abuse to enable them to provide a more holistic and intensive support package. They will work closely with survivors from the point of crisis through to move on from the emergency accommodation. FSWs will work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the whole range of survivors’ needs are met.

BACKGROUND

Ashiana is a ‘by and for’ women's led BME VAWG service with 30 years’ experience in delivering a holistic range of specialist services to South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern women affected by VAWG.

OUR SERVICES

Ashiana runs three refuges with a total of 29 bedspaces; specifically for women aged 16-35 fleeing forced marriage. This multi award winning project is the only service of its kind in the UK and is highly innovative in terms of addressing an area of significant need not met in other refuge provision. Within these refuges we designate a number of bedspaces for women with no recourse to public funds. We offer an advice and support service to women and girls who are experiencing VAWG, enabling them to make informed decisions and exit violent relationships. We provide a legal service supporting women with no recourse to public funds to help resolve their immigration status.

Counselling is offered for women and girls affected by VAWG. The counselling service works from an integrative stance, with the focus of providing a holistic service whereby we also work alongside other services and provide specialist domestic violence group work. The emphasis of therapeutic work with our clients is from a trauma informed model.

We also deliver an education programme for young people in secondary schools in East London aimed at preventing domestic violence and enabling young people experiencing domestic violence to access appropriate services. The prevention service includes delivering a whole school approach in schools to young people as well as group work to women and girls across North East London boroughs as well as community engagement activities and delivery. We deliver a range of awareness raising workshops for young people in the community and training on domestic violence for professionals in the voluntary and statutory sector.

PRIMARY TASK

The post is instrumental in overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive package of services and care for women in our refuges. To provide a safe environment and a service that is appropriate to the needs of young BME women particularly those from South Asian, Turkish and Middle Eastern communities and to support ex-clients following resettlement.

The post holder will have a caseload of clients and be responsible for providing advice, advocacy, casework and support to women and girls, advocating on behalf of these women and making others aware of their particular needs.
