Job Title: Finance and Business Operations Manager

We are looking for a savvy and adaptable finance and business operations manager to support our charity with financial management, HR operations, governance and office management.
You will be an experienced manager with strong all-round finance capabilities, driven to ensure robustness and efficiency across all elements of our finance, HR and governance in a busy charity setting.
You will be adept at managing multiple income streams in a complex environment, enjoy supporting Trustees and colleagues in day to day financial management and HR processes as well as working with the Head of Finance and Leadership team on strategic finance and business planning discussions, providing relevant and up to date financial and HR information, taking responsibility for the charity’s day to day accounting and business operation functions.

The Role
The purpose of the Finance and Business Manager is to provide the necessary professional expertise to enable the Charity to successfully execute its strategy and achieve its objectives on time and within budget, while exceeding stakeholder expectations.
The role will be responsible for:
- Ensuring sound financial and governance procedures and control.
- Overseeing the management of the charity’s internal business operations, including payroll, HR and premises.
- Line managing the Finance and Operations assistant.
- Maintaining and developing a sound system of financial management and control, working closely with the Head of Finance.
- Working alongside budget managers to ensure that they have a full understanding of financial information to enable them to make informed decisions.
- Leading on day-to-day financial operations including management accounting, timely issue of invoices to clients and funders and collection of receipts, cash flow management, managing investments, VAT, overseeing petty cash, company credit cards, donations and payments, gift aid recovery and purchase invoices.
- Overseeing the management of the charity’s internal business operations, including payroll, HR and premises.
- Overseeing the implementation of effective HR and recruitment procedures, record-keeping and staff development.
- Advising on budget drafting and resourcing for new activity and funding bids, including developing and implementing the full cost recovery model.

The Role

We are currently looking for a Senior Virtual Learning Officer to join our learning development team.
This role will be involved in the development of training covering subjects such as:
- Safeguarding
- EDI topics such as Autism and Gender Diversity
- Health and Safety
- Onboarding new adult volunteers to Sea Cadets

Responsibilities
- Work with course designers to develop new, and maintain existing, elearning and media content.
- Translate storyboards into interactive learning content, creating activities, graphics, animations, audio and videos, using tools such as Articulate (Storyline and Rise), Canva, H5P, Murf and Adobe.
- Ensure learning meets development guidelines, and is accessible, functional and engaging.
- Integrate learning content to create courses on our learning management system (Moodle).
- Test learning content, including using screen readers and other accessibility software.
- Help to maintain the guidelines for course development.
- Support the day-to-day administration of the Sea Cadets learning management environment
- Cultivate strong working relationships across multiple teams (internal and external)
- Stay up to date with latest system upgrades and advise on their potential impact on existing or new courses
Requirements
- eLearning development experience ( e.g. tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, or similar)
- Experience in media creation for graphics, sound and video editing.
- Good MS Office skills
Desirable
- Experience using Teams and SharePoint
- Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
- LMS Administration experience (our platform is based on Moodle, Mahara and Alfresco but other LMS skills will be transferable)

We are currently looking for a Head of Logistics and Trading to join our team responsible for the management and duties arising from the MSSC stores team and Sea Cadets Shop orders, and other departmental functions.
We are looking for a capable, ambitious person, able to accept increasing responsibilities, as the department transitions significant staff/role changes in the coming months.
Responsibilities
- To manage the operations of the MSSC Logistics & Trading department, which includes motor transport management for the MSSC.
- To be line manager to the Logistics & Trading Team.
- Be Building Manager responsible for the safety and security of all machinery, staff and operations within Sea Cadet Stores.
- Be responsible for budgetary control and finances associated with the department.
- To provide warehouse management and administrative oversite to operations for receipt and dispatch of online shop orders, MoD and MSSC stores held on loan throughout the MSSC.
- Liaise with SCC units, contractors, suppliers and MoD, to effectively deliver an efficient, effective department.
- Be responsible for maintain appropriate levels of MoD and Sea Cadets Shop stock.
- Liaise with Royal Navy regarding use of RN systems for purchasing uniforms and other RN provided equipment.
- Manage warehouse receipt and dispatch, ensuring that all orders are dispatched within specified timelines.
- Manage the operations of the Westminster Stores and Sea Cadets Shop online systems, ensuring that all records are maintained and up to date and accurate.
- Be prepared to assist with the manual aspects of warehouse activities as required.
- Liaise with Royal Navy and Captain of Sea Cadets regarding changing uniform requirements.
- Liaise with fundraising team to develop a strategy for increasing sales in the SCC shop.

We are currently looking for a Boat Station Manager to join our team.
About the role
The manager is instrumental in facilitating and delivering life changing, positive on the water experiences for young people. As an expert practitioner, they will provide leadership, development and mentoring to their team of instructors. The post will require strong organisational skills.
The Manager is an employee of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets based at our Crosby Boat Station. The post holder is required to hold and maintain the following qualifications as a condition of employment: RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and RYA Powerboat Instructor.
The primary purpose of the role is to manage a water-sports training facility in the Liverpool area for all Sea Cadet Units and other affiliates to the Boat Station.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day running of the Boat Station.
- Ensure that all visiting groups and their staff are fully briefed on the Boat Station’s policies and procedures and that there is adequate supervision of Cadets and young people at the facility, so as to discharge their duty of care for them.
- Oversee the Chief Instructor and all other sessional Instructors using the Boat Station.
- Manage the Boat Station’s accounts in liaison with the Regional Finance Manager including day to day fees.
- Ensure that best practise in accordance with the NGB guidelines and requirements following our Inshore Boating Operating Standard.
