This is an exciting opportunity to join the Fund as we expand the UK Portfolio to meet our ambitions in delivering the strategy. We're looking for two people to join the UK Portfolio Team as Heads of Funding, leading a team of just under 40.

The UK Portfolio supports the ambitions and potential of communities across the UK.We focus on scaling projects with a UK-wide benefit, through significant investments, which enable systems-level change for communities. Our funding is intended to complement the work of other country portfolios: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

As one of four Heads of Funding in UK Portfolio you will oversee all aspects of our work and ensure the team is resourced and able to deliver operationally. Heads of Funding are responsible for ensuring our programmes are designed and delivered to the scope, standard and deadlines required and will lead on specific strategic areas and relationships inside and outside the Fund. Heads of Funding are responsible for ensuring an understanding of the external policy, practice and funding context from across the UK is reflected in our delivery. You will provide leadership for the team, supporting the work of the Portfolio Managers.

We are currently evolving our UK Portfolio funding offers and  programmes in response to the strategy, developing a partnerships offer, and how we are more than a funder through our support to communities across the UK.

All Heads of will lead on a combination of strategic and operational priorities and the roles will involve a variety of responsibilities including:

• Overseeing up to £50m of grant commitments each year ensuring compliance with our operational and governance policies and requirements
• Lead one of the community-led missions in relation to the UK Portfolio’s funding offer
• Lead the strategic development and direction of a combination of our funding programmes and partnership approach
• Responsible for stakeholder management, both internally and externally
• Ensure learning and impact of our work is shared appropriately and informs our practice
• Lead engagement with our decision making Panels, Committees and Board
• Team leadership including culture, resource planning and team development
• Fund wide leadership either relating to one of the missions or as part of cross Fund priorities

You will need to work closely with the other Heads of Funding and each day will be a blend of operational and strategic work, stakeholder engagement, team leadership with lots of opportunities to collaborate with others across the Fund.

We are looking for ambitious, creative and passionate people with experience of the funding environment and brokering partnerships. Excellent leadership and collaboration skills will be essential in building relationships at all levels, from senior management to external stakeholders and funding colleagues across the Fund. You’ll have a keen understanding of the nuances of working within a public body, and a deep commitment to ensuring we are delivering impact through our current funding portfolio whilst also looking to the future and developing new funding initiatives and ways of working to meet our 2030 vision.

Due to our dispersed nature as a team, it is expected that there will be occasional travel in order to connect with colleagues, stakeholders and projects. This is likely to be one to two occasions per month.

Location: We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. The role can be based at any of our UK offices, these are Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Newtown.

The Administrator role is full time, 35 hours per week, but part time working will be considered

Duties and Responsibilities

1. To buy into, adhere to and promote the values of Nomad Opening Doors.

2. To be a positive and enthusiastic advocate of Nomad and its related projects.

3. To be the first point of contact for Nomad and its subsidiary organisations both in person and on the telephone.

4. To deal with enquiries both in person and on the telephone, directing callers and visitors as appropriate. This will include providing “hosting” to clients, partners and other visitors.

5. To book  prospective tenants in for assessments and tenancy workshops which are usually held weekly.

6. To assist in the preparation of events and meetings including arranging. refreshments, scheduling and booking rooms/venues. This may involve taking the lead as required.

7. To effectively and accurately minute-take Full Team Meetings and other similar meetings as required.

8. To set up and maintain appropriate administration and quality systems, in accordance with policy and contract requirements, including processing necessary paperwork.

9. To maintain comfortable, effective offices including liaising with Business Hub staff as issues arise relating to telephones, utilities, general maintenance and so on.

10.  To maintain stock levels that are appropriate for the smooth function of all project areas including ensuring printer paper and inks are in supply and stationery requirements are met.

11.  To assist the Communications and Fundraising Coordinator with the marketing and publicising of all Nomad’s services including Four Trees Lettings and Clarity Lettings, keeping information up to date and accurate through letters, reports, annual report, updating the web sites and a range of social media.  

12.  To set up client files and prepare assessment packs, sign up packs and client folders where required.

13.  To collate information to assist with regular reporting for all projects and the organisation.

14.  To assist the CEO with the gathering of information to be compiled into a detailed quarterly report to be presented to the Boards of Trustees.

15.  To maintain archiving, filing and storage systems (paper & electronic) where required.

16.  To assist the CEO with H&S checks and any other related accommodation matters.

17.  To assist the CEO with tasks related to data protection and GDPR including researching and booking refresher/update training as required.

18.  To lead on the logistics of such social events as the staff Christmas meal, the staff away day and any other such events that may from time to time be suggested by the staff team.

19.  To assist with research into and support the development of new ideas and opportunities.

20.  To supervise and support volunteers/trainees where required.

21.  To work in line with NOMAD’s policies and procedures.

22.  To undertake any other duties relevant and appropriate to the post.

We are Zarach, the children’s bed charity, and we’re on a mission to end child bed poverty, giving children the opportunity to engage at school and break the cycle of poverty. 

In our nearly seven years as a registered charity, we’ve captured the hearts and attention of many individuals, community groups, businesses and funders who want to support us on our mission. We’ve also been given an incredible media platform from which we have raised awareness of child bed poverty at local, regional and national levels. Zarach launched in Hartlepool & Stockton-on-Tees less than a year ago, and continues to grow with a launch in Middlesbrough in the coming months.  We are looking to recruit a Family Engagement Officer to join our dedicated team. The successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity to be involved in the shaping and growth of this valuable local service as we grow in the Tees Valley.

As our ideal candidate you will need to be within commuting distance of the Tees Valley (particularly Middlesbrough, Hartlepool & Stockton), and be able to travel regularly to meet with the team and to conduct home visits across the region. You will also need to be able to attend our Leeds Warehouse, or other areas when required (approx. once per month).

You will be someone who has good experience of the broad range of day-to-day case management, working with external partners, volunteer support, and administrative activities that working in a dynamic charity brings, and someone who enjoys the busyness and variety of this.

Alongside your family support and engagement-related skills and experience, we’ll be looking to see that you have a genuine care for our mission and, as such, are self-motivated to do a great job and be a values-led member of our team.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of working with vulnerable families and managing volunteers in the charity sector, due to some of the specialties that come with this, such as safeguarding and partnership working. About the role

This role is part of Shelter’s in-house development team, reporting to the Lead Developer, and working closely with all product teams in the Central Digital team.

As Principal Front-end Developer, you’ll work in a product team and be responsible for the overall vision and development of the front-end technology stack with a strong focus on the technical design and implementation of Shelters design system.

You will also support the development of products to help Shelter to provide faster, more efficient, and effective services to clients and supporters.

Our tech stack consists of Contentful, Netlify, Gatsby Js, Storybook, CircleCI and Nx.

You’ll head up the front-end development team, mentoring senior developers, supporting them and their reports (a total of 6 in your team) in their day-to-day work.

In this role, you will support the Lead Developer in managing the front-end team, promoting a culture of ownership, responsibility, and innovation. You will take the lead in designing and delivering Shelter’s design system, pattern library, and build tools, while continuously exploring emerging front-end technologies to enhance our digital products and user experience. Working closely with UX, product, and content teams, you will drive strategically important projects from development through to evidence-based improvements after launch. You will champion accessibility, web performance, and modern development standards across the organisation.

You will also play a key role in improving front-end team processes, ensuring high-quality, performant, and accessible code aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This includes mentoring the team through regular code reviews, setting development goals, and fostering collaboration within Agile teams. The Central Digital team team plays a key role within Shelter by producing impactful user experiences for our advocacy and fundraising campaigns, as well as our advice services. The team includes designers, researchers, developers, testers, product managers and delivery managers, who work in cross-functional product teams, each focused on specific strategic goals. Main purpose and scope of the job:

• Assisting with simple changes to client websites. 

• General administrative duties such as filing, post, file management, data storage and disposal.

About the role

As a GROW Trainee, you will play an essential role in delivering Shelter’s purpose to defend the right to a safe home in East London. Our GROW Trainee will learn how to provide advice and advocacy to people experiencing the housing emergency and work alongside a team of advisors, solicitors, support workers and managers who work together to give communities easier access to support and advice. The successful candidate will be given extensive training, support, and supervision to support them to achieve this. By collaborating with diverse stakeholders including funders, delivery partners, and education leaders, you'll build a comprehensive understanding of what works in career education while developing transferable skills in data visualisation, evaluation, and project management.

Essential criteria:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver a rolling programme of inclusive daytime events, including casual sports, entertainment, craft/hobby sessions, and intramural activities with student clubs.

3. Build partnerships with local businesses and community groups to increase student engagement with the wider town and develop town-centre activations.
4. Coach and Support our Elected Officers with their independent campaign and event work, ensuring synergy between one’s own work, and that of the elected team.
5. Promote all events through digital channels and on-campus marketing.
6. Complete thorough risk assessments for all events, ensuring health, safety, and accessibility are prioritised.
7. Maintain accurate records of activities, feedback, and attendance to evaluate and improve impact.
8. Support wider Students’ Union events and cross-team campaigns as needed.
9. Support the Marketing Manager with the delivery of Open Day events and activities.
