This role is a one-year fixed-term position.
Overall purpose
The middle school English teacher is responsible for delivering an English curriculum in an engaging, stimulating and effective manner, using varied instructional strategies.
Summary of duties
Teach four sections of Grade 8 English
Serve as a Grade 8 advisor: build positive relationships with advisees and their families, deliver advisory curriculum, coach advisees with social, emotional, and academic topics, liaise with team teachers
Plan, teach, and assess in close alignment with grade level teaching partner
Collaborate with grade-level team teachers to support student well-being and academic progress, as well as the advisory curriculum and various team initiatives
Coordinate curriculum with other members of the English department, and liaise with other departments where appropriate
Exhibit knowledge of current trends, pedagogy, research, and topics of importance in English education by applying it in the classroom and sharing it with teachers on a departmental and school-wide basis
Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, prepare for parent conferences, complete report cards, etc.
Take responsibility for the safety and well-being of all students at all times
Organize and participate in field trips to facilitate active learning, including bonding days and a week-long trip abroad in May
Participate in regular, purposeful pedagogy meetings and in professional development sessions
Participate actively in the life of the School, through attendance at events, committee membership and leadership of co-curricular activities
Any other duties (including lunch and recess coverage) as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Middle School Principal
Selection criteria
Essential qualifications/experience:
A bachelor’s degree in English or a relevant discipline
Substantive full-time teaching Middle School English
Experience and commitment to working collaboratively in a team-focused environment
Experience with differentiating instruction to meet the learning needs of all students
Experience as an Advisor supporting the social and emotional needs of all students
Training and experience in intercultural competency initiatives to support diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom and workplace
Strong oral and written communication skills
Significant recent professional development germane to the position
Commitment to and facility with integration of technology in the service of student learning
Demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding practices and experience supporting student welfare
Desirable qualifications/experience:
Experience within a standards-based curriculum
Experience/knowledge of integrated and/or thematic instruction
Experience in advisory, mentoring or delivering social-emotional learning curricula that support adolescent wellbeing

What could my day look like?
The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

TRAIN is a youth work charity based in South Oxfordshire. We support young people aged 10 to 18 in Didcot, Wallingford and the surrounding areas, especially those who are under-served.
Young people in our communities are facing complex challenges. Some are struggling with poor mental health, family instability or difficulties at school. ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a fixed-term cover role leading TRAIN's youth work team while our Youth Work Manager is on planned medical leave.
You'll be leading an experienced team of seven youth workers delivering a busy programme across Didcot and Wallingford. Four members of the team are permanent staff and three are sessional workers. Your role is to support them well through regular supervision, practical leadership and day-to-day decision making, while ensuring our youth work continues to run smoothly.
This isn't simply a caretaker role. Although maintaining high-quality delivery is the priority, we're keen to hear from people who enjoy improving services and spotting opportunities to strengthen what already exists.
You'll oversee our full range of provision, including open access youth work, detached and outreach work, one-to-one mentoring and group programmes. East Anglian Air Ambulance is a regional charity that provides life-saving care across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and beyond. With two state of the art helicopters and a fleet of rapid response vehicles taking our crew of critical care paramedics and doctors to the scene of the incident, to provide advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care (PHEM).
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Training and Volunteer Administrator to join our life-saving charity.
About our Community Training Programme:
Since 2018 East Anglian Air Ambulance has been delivering lifesaving Community CPR and Defibrillator training sessions to over 100,000+ children and adults, but we need to train more people to save more lives across East Anglia.
Every year approximately 11,000 people suffer a cardiac arrest in the East of England. Around 70% of those who suffer a cardiac arrest receive any form of bystander CPR before the arrival of the ambulance service, however, less than 20% have a defibrillator deployed before emergency services arrive.
The cardiac arrest survival rate in the UK is only around 9%, but if a defibrillator is used alongside effective CPR within the first 3-5 minutes, the chances of survival can increase between 40% - 70%.
About the role:
As Community Training and Volunteer Administrator, you will provide excellent administrative support to EAAA's Community Training and Volunteering Team, helping to coordinate our flagship Community CPR and Defibrillator Training programme for schools, community groups and organisations across East Anglia.
You will manage a busy training calendar and coordinate Community CPR Training bookings and enquiries, ensuring all participants and supporters receive the highest standards of customer service. You will also oversee the logistics of our training equipment, ensuring resources are available in the right place at the right time to support training delivery.
You will ensure all CPR and AED training sessions are accurately recorded on our volunteer management system and will support and guide new and existing CPR volunteers throughout their recruitment and onboarding journey.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong administrative and IT skills, experience of using CRM systems, and excellent communication skills. You will be confident engaging with a diverse range of people and committed to delivering an outstanding supporter experience.
This is a vital role in ensuring our training participants, volunteers and supporters have a positive experience with EAAA and our community training programmes. Ultimately, your work will contribute to improving outcomes for patients experiencing cardiac arrest across East Anglia and help save more lives.

You will conduct in-depth initial assessments to produce SMART and tailored action plans, maintain regular meaningful contact with beneficiaries, and conduct regular reviews of agreed actions. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate and encourage a positive mindset among beneficiaries by adopting a strengths-based approach to their journey into employment.
You will deliver holistic, person-centered support spanning one-to-one guidance, CV and interview preparation, and the planning and delivery of group workshops and employment preparation sessions. You will have a strong understanding of the local and London employer landscape and will contribute to ensuring we consistently meet the performance targets and KPIs that underpin our funded programmes.
You will have at least 3 years’ experience working in a similar post supporting disadvantaged groups back to work and/or training and education. You will have experience of working in an evidence-based practice, working to set targets, and will be equipped with strong influencing and interpersonal skills. You will also be responsible for producing and submitting weekly/monthly caseload reports and maintaining accurate, up-to-date beneficiary records on our internal systems.

Hackney School of Food is an award-winning food education hub based in the grounds of Mandeville Primary School in Clapton, East London. Through our teaching kitchen and educational garden, we help children, families and communities build the skills, confidence and knowledge to grow, cook and eat good food.
Each year, we welcome more than 10,000 visits to our kitchen and garden, delivering curriculum programmes for schools alongside community cooking courses, gardening projects, holiday clubs, corporate volunteering and public events. Since becoming a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2023, we have expanded our facilities, strengthened our governance and built a strong reputation as a leader in food education.
We're now looking for an exceptional Managing Director to build on these strong foundations and lead Hackney School of Food through its next phase of growth and impact.
About the role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director (MD) will provide both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the organisation delivers its mission while remaining financially resilient, well-governed and responsive to the needs of the communities it serves.
The Managing Director is responsible for all aspects of the organisation, including strategy, income generation, finance, governance, partnerships, programme delivery and people leadership. Working closely with a small, committed team and an engaged Board, they will build on strong foundations to grow Hackney School of Food's impact, reach and long-term sustainability.
This is a varied, hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys balancing big-picture thinking with practical delivery. One day you may be developing a new partnership, meeting a prospective funder or working with the Board on future strategy; the next you could be supporting the team, welcoming visitors to the garden or solving day-to-day operational challenges.

In your first 12 months you will:
Build on Hackney School of Food's strong foundations to deliver the next phase of our strategy and growth.
Increase and diversify income through fundraising, partnerships and commercial opportunities to strengthen long-term sustainability.
Lead, support and develop a small, ambitious team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture where people can thrive.
Strengthen relationships with funders, partners and local businesses, helping Hackney School of Food deepen its impact.
Work closely with the Board to embed strong governance, organisational systems and long-term planning for the future.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Hackney School of Food, ensuring delivery of its mission, vision and long-term objectives.
Lead the development and implementation of Hackney School of Food's annual business plan and organisational priorities.
Work with the Board to evolve organisational strategy, identify opportunities, manage risks and support sustainable growth.
Monitor, report on and respond to organisational performance against agreed objectives and impact measures.
Champion Hackney School of Food externally, strengthening its profile and influence.
Financial sustainability and income generation
Oversee organisational budgeting, financial planning, forecasting and cashflow management, working closely with the Treasurer and accountant.
Lead income generation across the organisation, including trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, sponsorship and earned income.
Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, sponsors and strategic partners.
Ensure all funding commitments are met, including grant reporting, monitoring and evaluation requirements.
Identify new opportunities to diversify income and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
Partnerships & External Relations
Act as the main point of contact for HSoF’s key partners, LEAP Federation and Chefs in Schools to ensure the partnerships are effective and positive.
Build and maintain strong relationships with other key stakeholders, including local authorities, funders and sponsors.
Represent Hackney School of Food at meetings, events, and public forums.
Champion the value of food education and contribute to wider local and national conversations.
Ensure programmes remain responsive to community needs through ongoing engagement and consultation.
Governance and public benefit
Ensure the organisation operates in line with its CIC objectives and delivers clear public benefit.
Support the Board of Directors to fulfil its governance responsibilities through high-quality reporting, planning and decision-making.
Prepare Board papers, reports and agendas, ensuring timely and accurate information is available to support effective governance.
Oversee and report on organisational performance to the Board of Directors quarterly.
Act as the primary link between the Board and the operational team.
Maintain effective governance, delegated authority and accountability frameworks.
Support the Board in meeting all statutory and regulatory obligations relating to the CIC.
People, Culture and safeguarding
Provide leadership to a small core team (currently c.4 employees), directly managing staff and fostering a positive, inclusive culture.
Provide oversight and support for a wider network of approx. 15 freelance contractors to ensure consistently high-quality delivery.
Lead recruitment, induction, performance management and professional development in line with safer recruitment and equality principles.
Ensure effective organisational structures, clear roles, and performance accountability.
Oversee HR processes including appraisals, performance management, and professional development.
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, embedding safeguarding throughout the organisation maintaining compliance with all relevant requirements.
Develop organisational systems, policies and practices that support an inclusive, high-performing workplace.
Risk Management & Compliance
Maintain and regularly review the organisational Risk Register and report key risks and mitigations to the Board.
Oversee organisational policies, procedures and continuous improvement, ensuring policies and legal requirements are up to date, clearly communicated and embedded across the organisation.
Ensure compliance with employment law, health and safety, safeguarding, GDPR and other relevant legislation.
