AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.
Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England, Wales and Northern Ireland with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.
AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands we are looking for a specialist Advocate for Scotland. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. We welcome applications from candidates with experience of domestic abuse. Our Specialist Advocates support families impacted by fatal domestic abuse through provision of lay advocacy, for and on behalf of, families with a range of statutory service providers (e.g. those conducting reviews and inquiries, social services, police, housing) and work to build good relations between all parties. To ensure that families get the support they need, you will use AAFDA’s Home Office endorsed seven-step approach to working with individuals and families, to ensure that they receive the best possible support and advocacy to restore dignity and relief for families and to help them cope and recover. Through trauma-informed approaches, you will:
· Listen to families and advocate for them in a complex system that too often treats them as passive participants and overlooks the value of their insight.
· Provide information, support, guidance, advice and advocacy on Domestic Homicide & Suicide Reviews (DHSR’s) and other reviews where relevant and appropriate.
· Manage families’ expectations of the legal and procedural processes facing them by supporting families in meetings with agencies such as health, police and local authorities.
· Give families practical help on a wide range of issues - including help with letter writing or advocating with employers and local authorities on the families’ behalf.
· Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the frontline of crisis care, supporting members of the fire services community through some of their most difficult moments and helping them find a path forward. As a senior practitioner, you'll use your expertise to assess complex presentations, manage significant risk and provide immediate psychological support when it matters most.
About the role
As a Senior Psychological Therapist (Crisis Line), you will respond to individuals experiencing acute emotional distress, suicidal ideation, self-harm risk and other urgent mental health crises. Working remotely as part of a rotational shift pattern, you'll provide calm, focused and compassionate support through telephone, online chat and digital platforms.
Using advanced clinical skills and evidence-based approaches, you will assess risk, formulate safe and effective interventions, and support individuals to move from crisis towards safety and stability.

About you
You will hold a Level 5/6 qualification in psychological therapy, counselling, psychotherapy or a related discipline, or have equivalent professional experience, alongside registration with a relevant professional body such as HCPC, BACP, BABCP or UKCP.
You will bring significant experience of supporting people experiencing emotional distress, crisis or complex mental health needs, with strong skills in risk assessment, safeguarding and brief psychological intervention.

Working arrangements
This is a fully remote, UK-based role delivered through a rotational shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and overnight working.
The role includes participation in the senior clinical escalation on-call rota, with a requirement to provide a minimum of six weeks of cover each year.

The Bugzi - a mini powered wheelchair for children offers many children their first experience of independent mobility. It uses either a joystick or switches and adaptable seating for complex needs, and helps develop spatial awareness, confidence, and early mobility skills. The Bugzi is available through a national loan scheme.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Communications and Marketing Manager with excellent organisational
skills to develop, implement and manage effective communication strategies for a charity based in the
healthcare sector, with a national and local reach across the UK and Ireland.
You’ll have demonstrable experience in planning and implementing different communications strategies
across a range of marketing channels to help us grow our organisational profile, uphold our vision
and values, while extending our reach across the sector to support growth and awareness among the
community we support.
As part of the daily management of the charity’s communications and marketing needs, you’ll work with colleagues and volunteers to raise awareness maximise awareness of our support model, support the organisation through attendance of national and local events and be part of a team representing the charity at key exhibitions during the year requiring you to be away overnight for up to 3 or 4 nights at a time (depending upon location) – approximately 3-4 times per year. As part of this ambition, we are now seeking an NbS Modelling Manager to join a newly established, DEFRA-funded Feasibility & Modelling Unit.
Working within a specialist NbS team, you will play a pivotal role in translating nature recovery projects into credible, investment-ready propositions across national parks and national landscapes. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of conservation, land management and green finance, applying advanced modelling to unlock private investment into nature at scale.
Working closely with project teams and Feasibility Managers, you will lead on financial and ecological modelling, helping to quantify ecosystem services and shape projects that can successfully access revenue through mechanisms such as carbon markets, biodiversity net gain (BNG), and other payments for ecosystem services. A key part of your role will be developing robust financial models and ensuring projects align with the expectations of investors, offtakers and landowners.
You’ll also engage externally with a range of stakeholders, including equity investors and partners, providing confidence in the financial viability of projects and advising on innovative financing approaches. Alongside this, you will contribute to wider knowledge sharing, helping to strengthen understanding of green finance across protected landscapes.
You’ll be working in a fast-evolving and commercially emerging space, where your ability to combine technical expertise with strategic insight will be critical.
You will bring strong experience in financial and/or ecological modelling within environmental or natural capital settings, with a deeper or more specialised focus on green finance and nature markets. This might include experience gained within organisations such as environmental consultancies, natural capital firms, or market-focused organisations such as Environment Bank or similar.
Comfortable working with complexity, you’ll be confident building and interrogating financial models, understanding investment drivers, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. You will bring a high level of attention to detail alongside the ability to see the bigger strategic picture.
A proactive and collaborative approach is essential, as is the ability to work independently within a remote team while managing multiple strands of work.
This is a fully remote role, with travel across the UK to national parks and team meet-ups. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as required.

During tis time, we have worked tirelessly to embed our service and ensure that the offer of support is made at the point of death. We offer an immediate, consistent, high-quality and compassionate service to all individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under in Wales and the bordering counties in England, including; Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Avon and Somerset, with the plan to continue to roll out support to the whole of England. We work in partnership with professionals who refer int the charity on behalf of families, so they don’t have to trawl through the internet for an organisation who may, or may not, be able to support. We provide immediate, and ongoing, support and are here for as long as our families need us.
Context of role:
2wish support anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We are an All-Wales and part England charity providing immediate casework support, as well as ongoing aftercare services including counselling, alternative therapies, play therapy, support groups, support events and a respite cottage.
The post holder will provide immediate and ongoing emotional and practical support to families affected by the sudden and unexpected death of their child or young adult.

It is the nature of the work that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances unpredictable and varied. All employees are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks, which are not specifically covered in their job description may have to be undertaken.
You will be subject to performance review, which will incorporate a review of the above duties and performance over the period.

What we do for you:
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Normal office hours are 9am - 5pm, although alternative hours may be worked with line manager agreement. Work outside office hours may sometimes be necessary and will be compensated for by time off in lieu.
Annual leave: 28 days plus bank holidays. Annual leave steadily increases after five years of service. Annual leave and statutory holidays are calculated on a pro rata basis where applicable.
Pension: 2wish operate a contributory pension scheme. 2wish will auto-enrol you into the scheme in accordance with it's auto-enrolment obligations. Full details of the scheme will be provided to you once you are enrolled, including the minimum level of contributions that you will be required to make during your membership (current contributions - employer 3% and employee 5%).
Mileage: A fixed rate allowance is payable for agreed mileage undertaken on 2wish business in a private vehicle, over and above your usual journey to your workplace/s.
Location: 2wish currently offers a form of hybrid working and this will continue for the foreseeable future. This post is home based with travel across the region you are covering.
