As a Legal and Policy Volunteer at Big Brother Watch, you'll be volunteering with Advocacy Team to help us analyse a range of current legislation impacting privacy and civil liberties; digest emerging policy and research papers; conduct parliamentary monitoring and research; and supporting advocacy strategies to achieve change and protect rights and liberties in the UK.

Prior experience is not essential; nor do you need to be training as a lawyer; but motivation and a high level of interest in our issues are vital! You'll be given guidance and supervision to help grow your skills in these areas. This role is ideal for people looking to grow skills in policy or legal analysis, research or campaigns. 

We have 2 vacancies for Legal and Policy Volunteers - one will focus on free speech and protest, and one will focus on facial recognition and digital IDs. Please indicate in your application which area you are most interested in and why.

The Founding Volunteer Social Media Director is a critical leadership role at the heart of this work.
 
The Purpose of This Role
The Social Media Director is responsible for shaping and leading the organisation’s entire social media vision, strategy, and execution during its foundational phase. This role exists to transform truth into reach, values into visibility, and community work into collective momentum — without diluting integrity.
You will lead the creation of a decentralised, high-volume, values-aligned content ecosystem that empowers ambassadors, volunteers, and community members to speak, share, and act with clarity and purpose.
This is about building infrastructure for voice — not chasing virality for its own sake.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential Technical Competencies:

Role Summary

The volunteer kitchen support (deputy cook) supports the delivery of Evergreen Care UK’s community café services. You will work alongside the Cook and wider team to help create a welcoming, well-run environment where people feel connected and included.

About CARAS:

Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a charity that supports refugees and people seeking asylum who live in south London. We offer a range of individual and group support to improve the holistic wellbeing of people who have a background of forced migration, providing them with tools to build lives filled with value, meaning and purpose in the UK. Our activities for young people currently include: ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages), study group, youth club, swimming lessons and football.

About Youth Club:

Youth Club is a place for young people aged 14-19 to come and play games, learn new skills, make and strengthen friendships and build a sense of belonging. Regular activities include classic youth club games such as table tennis, pool, foosball, board and card games. We also work in partnership with a range of organisations to run a rich programme of workshops within our youth club. Some of these have included creative visual arts, drama, music and workshops on rights and entitlements of young asylum seekers. We also cook a hot meal from time to time and offer a range of snacks each week. Our casework team are also on-site to support young people with a range of advice and signposting needs, usually by-appointment.

About the role:

As a Youth Club volunteer, you would be helping young people to feel welcome, join in with activities and be a great role model.

Youth Club takes place every Wednesday at 6.00-8.30pm. We ask for a commitment of at least 2 sessions per month for a minimum of 6 months.

· To attend and contribute to volunteer de-briefs which occur 15 minutes after each session.

Bookkeeper

Agnes Youth and Family Center is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable bookkeeper to support our growing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, organizing transactions, tracking income and expenses, and helping ensure our bookkeeping systems are up to date. The Bookkeeper will work closely with our CPA board member to support financial oversight. 

Responsibilties 

• Maintain accurate nonprofit financial records and enter donations, grants, program income, and expenses into QuickBooks.
• Track and organize restricted and unrestricted funds to support proper nonprofit financial management and reporting.
• Reconcile bank statements, maintain receipts and supporting documentation, and ensure records are audit-ready.
• Work closely with the organization’s CPA board member to strengthen internal controls and support financial oversight.
• Use QuickBooks knowledge and nonprofit bookkeeping best practices to help ensure compliance, transparency, and sustainability.
