As our Lived Experience Coordination Volunteer, you will help run our lived experience groups, support the everyday admin that keeps our programmes going, and help communicate with participants in a genuine, informed way. This is a flexible, varied role shaped around your strengths and availability.
Location: Hub/community/home based location, London.
Suggested contribution: Approximately 7 - 14 hours per month, flexible and to be agreed together

This role fights the housing emergency by putting lived experience at the heart of how services are designed and delivered. Refugee Support Volunteer

Time commitment: One half-day per week

Roll Models CIC is a community for women and marginalised genders, built around the belief that getting outside, riding bikes and doing adventurous things together can change how we see ourselves and what we think we’re capable of.
We create welcoming pathways into cycling and outdoor adventure through mentorship, skills-sharing, and community events. Our aim is to reduce barriers to participation and help more women, trans and non-binary people build confidence, skills, independence and lasting connections through cycling and time outdoors.
In just two years, Roll Models has grown from a pilot mentorship programme of 25 participants in 2025, to a mentorship cohort twice the size with a wider community of over 100 people attending events and workshops in 2026, with demand exceeding our current capacity. We are now at an exciting point in our development: the model is working, the community is growing, and we want to build the organisational foundations to support that growth sustainably.
We are looking to convene a voluntary Steering Group to help shape the strategic direction of our fledgling organisation, with a view to formalising a Board in Spring 2027 (there will also be opportunity to continue in a supporting role, without joining the Board).
Steering Group roles
Strategy and Governance - Filled
Roll Models has grown significantly in a short space of time, led by one paid member of staff with volunteer support. With demand for the programme limited by our current capacity, we are looking for someone to work alongside the Director as a mentor and sounding board, to focus on shaping the long-term strategic direction of the organisation.
Fundraising
There are many opportunities to grow the programme, and various funding pots we would like to apply for to activate this. We are looking for a savvy fundraiser to help us with fundraising strategy, identifying relevant opportunities, and supporting application processes.
You would support:
Developing a fundraising strategy
Identifying relevant funding opportunities
Feeding into and checking over applications
Working with other members (ie Communications & Marketing) to shape how we tell the story for funders
Mentorship programme (2 roles)
We are looking for an experienced community leader and cyclist who is passionate about creating safe and welcoming spaces for women, trans and non-binary people in the outdoors. You will support the strategic development and running of Roll Models' core mentorship programme, working closely with the Director on the systems and structures that will allow it to grow sustainably. This is a vital role that bridges community-building, participant experience, logistics and operations.
You would support:
Developing policies and procedures to support the running of the mentorship programme
Planning and delivering recruitment for the 2027 cohort, including reviewing and improving the participant application and matching process
Supporting safeguarding, inclusion and participant wellbeing processes
Shaping the strategic direction and future development of the mentorship programme, including thinking about how the programme can support more people without losing its community-led character
Workshops and programming
Roll Models runs regular programming and skills sessions relating to cycling and outdoor adventure, including bike mechanics, navigation, kit choices, trip planning and other practical skills. We are looking for someone who can help us think strategically about how this strand of Roll Models' work develops, in particular, accessing funding to open the workshops up beyond the current cohort. This role would help Roll Models move from delivering individual workshops towards a coherent, sustainable skills programme.
You would support:
Developing a strategic programme of skills workshops for the next 6-12 months
Identifying skills gaps and opportunities within the community
Supporting funding bids to resource the workshop programme
Developing outreach and partnerships to reach people who may not already participate in cycling or outdoor recreation
Supporting the development of inclusive and accessible workshop formats
Helping shape DEI policies and approaches for events and workshops
Exploring opportunities to develop workshops that could generate income while retaining accessible routes into participation
Communications & Marketing
Roll Models has grown organically and is increasingly attracting attention from the cycling and outdoor industries. We now want to be more strategic about how we communicate what we do and use our growing profile to create opportunities for the organisation and its community. We are looking for someone with experience in communications, marketing, storytelling or partnerships who can help us think bigger about Roll Models' position and reach.
You would support:
Developing Roll Models' strategic positioning and profile by shaping a communications and storytelling strategy
Developing content and storytelling approaches for funders and potential partners
Developing relationships with industry and community partners
Helping Roll Models communicate its impact beyond being "just" a cycling club
Identifying opportunities for media, speaking, events, festivals and other platforms that can raise the profile of Roll Models and the wider issues we work on

Finance and sustainability
Roll Models has begun generating income through its mentorship programme and events, alongside grant funding and industry support. An unpaid carer is anyone who provides support to a family member, friend or neighbour due to a variety of reasons which could include illness, disability, mental health needs, addiction, or age‑related frailty. Many people do not recognise themselves as carers yet they take on vital responsibilities that can have a profound impact on their wellbeing, finances and daily life. Our vision is a society where carers are recognised, respected and supported as equal partners in care. Our mission is to make a positive difference to carers’ lives by working in partnership with carers, statutory bodies and voluntary organisations.
The Role
The Chair will lead a committed Board of Trustees, ensuring Swansea Carers Centre is well-governed, financially sustainable and forward‑looking.
You will work closely with our CEO and Senior Management Team to embed strong governance practices, support strategic decision‑making, and champion a culture of empowerment across the organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role at a time when carers’ needs are growing, and the charity is strengthening its strategic direction.
We are particularly seeking a Chair who can:

Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.
As a Fundraising Volunteer, you’ll provide much-needed help looking after fundraising relationships, and with fundraising activities and events. You’ll help us look after the supporters who are fundraising for us — to make sure they’re happy and feel part of what we do. You’ll also support us with planning and running events, including preparation and making sure everything runs smoothly on the day.
In this role you’ll develop your organisation, communication and team working skills.

We're looking for Initial Contact Advisers across our offices in South West Surrey: Cranleigh, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Haslemere.
What will you do?
● complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role
● talk to clients over the phone, face to face, or online to explore whatproblems they’ve come for help with
● assess clients capacity and the level of help they need, to decide nextsteps
● find information about the clients’ problems and help them to understandtheir options
● identify when a client needs more in depth help than you can give at initialcontact, and make an appointment for them to come back
● write a summary of the clients’ problems and what action you’ve taken
● look out for problems’ that are common, or are unfair, and write a shortreport about the problem or a letter to an elected official like an MP, AMor local councillor.
Some examples of what you could do:
● help a client with rent arrears find how to get help with their rent, andtake the first steps to secure their housing
● help someone with debts work out a reasonable amount to pay back, andmake a phonecall to an organisation they owe money to.
● explore what benefits a client is entitled to and to take the first steps inmaking a benefit claim.

What do you need to have?
You don’t need specific qualifications or skills but you’ll need to:
● be friendly and approachable

● have good maths and IT skills
● be able to understand information and explain it to others
● be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection
● be willing to undertake training in your role
How much time do you need to give?
Ideally we ask for 6 hours per week, which can be over one day or spread over two days, for at least 6 months.

As a Community Support Volunteer, you will play an important role in the Compassionate Communities programme by helping people talk about death and dying, grief and loss as well as raising awareness about St Helena Hospice services. We believe that breaking down taboos and getting people talking is key in helping communities support each other.
Your role will involve:
· Offering a welcoming, supportive presence and a listening ear to allow people to engage in meaningful conversations around topics such as incurable illness, caregiving, dying and bereavement. This may include signposting to relevant community support or care provision.
· Establishing contacts within the community and building relationships.
· Supporting St Helena in informal sessions or larger events that may be held in community groups, charities, cafes or other organisations.
· Helping to promote Compassionate Communities principles and the work of St Helena in a positive, accessible way.
· Connecting with St Helena staff and partners before and after events to give feedback and receive support.

● Social Media Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with
Roots Academy’s mission and goals.
● Content Creation: Create compelling and informative social media content, including posts,
videos, graphics, and stories, that reflects our values and engages our target audience.
● Community Engagement: Build and nurture a vibrant online community by responding to
comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
● Content Calendar: Maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent posting schedule and to
plan for special events, holidays, and campaigns.
● Audience Growth: Implement strategies to increase our social media following and engagement,
including the use of hashtags, collaborations, and promotions.
● Analytics and Reporting: Monitor social media metrics, track campaign performance, and
provide regular reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.
Brand Consistency: Ensure that all social media content adheres to Roots Academy’s branding
guidelines and reflects our core values.
● Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to align social media efforts with broader
organisational objectives.
What we’re looking for

effectively.
● Proven experience in social media management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit
context.
