Gardening Volunteer – Day Care Centre

What You’ll Do

Support the development and maintenance of our allotment space at the Mabel Churn Day Care Centre. You’ll help create a calm, welcoming outdoor environment where older people can enjoy nature, take part in light gardening activities, and connect with others.

You will:

· Help maintain the allotment space (e.g. watering, weeding, planting, harvesting)

· Support the set-up and upkeep of planting areas, raised beds, or pots

· Encourage and support clients to get involved in simple gardening tasks

· Help keep the outdoor space safe, tidy, and accessible

· Work with staff to plan seasonal planting or small garden projects

· Report any concerns or maintenance needs to staff

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Interest in gardening or outdoor activities (no expert knowledge needed)

· Friendly and patient approach when engaging with older people

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Basic understanding of health and safety in an outdoor setting

· Creativity and initiative in developing the space

· Reliable and committed

Time Commitment

Flexible – ideally 2-4 hours per week

Weekdays 10:00 am and 2:00 pm

A growing NGO in Malawi, working across education, livelihoods, health and environmental sustainability, is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen its finance systems.

The organisation has grown significantly and now manages multiple donor funded projects, with annual income of over £1 million. QuickBooks has been introduced, but is not yet fully embedded, and many processes remain manual.

The volunteer will work with the Finance and Administration Manager, wider finance team and senior leadership to review current systems, identify priorities and support practical improvements.

Key areas of support may include QuickBooks, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, donor reporting, management accounts, internal controls, expenditure verification, audit readiness and mentoring.

This would suit a collaborative and adaptable finance professional who can balance a broad systems review with practical, hands on support.

What You’ll Do

Help promote Age UK Enfield’s work by creating engaging content for social media and supporting our communications. You’ll help us reach more older people, volunteers, and supporters through creative, informative posts and storytelling.

You will:

· Create social media posts using provided content or your own creative ideas

· Take photos or short videos at events

· Assist with newsletters, leaflets, and other communications

· Share insights or analytics to help improve our reach

Barnardo's is looking for volunteers to help support online parenting groups. Your friendly welcome and practical support can help parents feel confident, connected, and able to access the guidance they need. Volunteer from home, gain valuable experience, and be part of a charity that changes children's lives every day.

Someone experienced at basic graphic design ie. flyers and posters, to work remotely, at times suited to you. Currently we have an account with Canva that can be shared with you. Primarily this role is for doing a 1 page monthly newsletter however if you wanted to do more, it could be for 2-6 flyers and/or posters a month too, depending on how much time you would like to put into the role.

We're setting up a new telephone group which will offer blind and partially sighted people living with DREC the opportunity to socialise with one another each week and we're looking for someone to facilitate the group. The right person will have have personal or professional experience of DREC, will be a good listener who is able to manage group conversations and will have the skills to enable people to feel comfortable in a social group environment.

This is a telephone-based role that you can do from home. You will need access to a landline and/or mobile phone. We ask you to commit to 1-2 hours per week to facilitate one group session, which will take place at the same day and time each week.

You will be the link between the group participants and the RNIB Talk and Support team and will:

• Listen to the group conversation and ensure it flows and that all conversations are appropriate;
• Make appropriate contributions as and when required to stimulate conversation;
• Create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere thus encouraging all participants to feel comfortable taking part;
• Report any Safeguarding concerns or data breaches to the Talk & Support staff team.

Volunteers are needed to assist in the sorting and pricing of goods donated to our charity shop. As well as keeping the shop tidy, rotating stock on a regular basis and serving our clients who use the shop.

There are a variety of activities available, and where we can, we will try to tailor the opportunity around you. We are open Monday to Saturday (9am - 5pm) with various times available to volunteer.

Here at the Women & Families Resource Centre, our team is bright and bubbly, and we love meeting people from all walks of life.

We want to make sure everyone that visits us has a great experience, and we never forget the contribution our little shop makes to helping those in crisis.

You will work closely with the Shop Manager, shop staff and volunteers, acting as the first point of contact for the shop in relation to matters of stock generation, stock transfer, collection and disposal.

OPERATIONAL TASKS

Typical tasks may include:

Receiving donations, registering and storing them safely.

Lifting, moving and sorting items according to guidelines.

Identifying items suitable for sale and recycling.

Checking item quality.

Active promotion of the charity and what we do.

Preparing items for distribution to our service users.

What you will be doing

• Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:
• Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.
• Researching valuable and vintage stock.
• Photographing and listing items for the online shop.
• Describing items for online listings.
• Preparing items for postage and dispatch .
• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.
