🧡 We're looking for new trustees to help end child slavery in Nepal
Today, there are over 40 million slaves globally – a quarter of whom are children. In Nepal alone, we estimate almost 100,000 children are trapped in hazardous, exploitative labour.
Child Rescue Nepal exists to change that. We rescue children, keep them safe and reunite them with their families – and we've already helped over 1,000 children find their way home. But there's so much more to do, and we want you to help us do it.
We're building our board's experience base and are particularly keen to hear from people with skills in:
🔹 HR
🔹 Strategy and governance
🔹 International development
🔹 Knowledge or lived experience of Nepal
You don't need to have been a charity trustee before. The skills and qualities matter more than prior governance experience, and we'll give you full induction and training to get you up to speed.
Here's what one former trustee has to say about the role:
"I have learnt so much from my experience on both a personal and professional level and have felt my contributions were welcomed and valued. I really feel privileged to have been able to be part of CRN and have the opportunities to work in Nepal, and the children will always have a special place in my heart." — Sue Payne, retired social worker and trustee for four years
🌏 This is a voluntary role with real impact – a chance to bring your skills to a small, focused charity making a genuine difference in children's lives.
Applications close at the end of November 2026 – but we're reviewing and interviewing candidates on a rolling basis as they come in, so please don't wait until the deadline to apply. Applications are reviewed by the trustees, with shortlisted candidates invited to an informal interview with our Chair, David Westgate, via Zoom.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

St Basils is looking for a new Non-Exec Director / Trustee with Marketing & Communications experience to join our Board
About Us
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to enable them to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and ultimately prevent homelessness.
We help just over 4,000 young people each year across the West Midlands, with services in Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Our services range from providing supported accommodation to outreach, advice, support, employability and engagement services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, confidence and employment and move on. The aim is to help them successfully break the ‘cycle of homelessness’ so that they can go on to experience a bright, fulfilling future and never return to a state where they are at risk of homelessness again.
About our Board
We are a registered provider of social housing, a charity and a company limited by guarantee, meaning our Board members are both Directors and Trustees.
To navigate our challenging regulatory landscape, we need to be tightly governed. At the heart of this is a Board with the right knowledge, values, skills and diversity, all whilst working towards our vision that homelessness should not be part of growing up.
As a member of St Basils’ Board, you will be a guardian of St Basils’ charitable purpose. You will be responsible for holding the Senior Leadership Team to account through constructive challenge and support, and for ensuring St Basils’ strategic priorities are met.
You will form part of St Basils’ governance framework, providing oversight of key business areas, such as business planning, safeguarding, risk, finance, health and safety, EDI and business development.
Our Board is made up of 14 members, 2 of which are designated for young people who have lived experience of homelessness and / or St Basils’ services.
St Basils has adopted the RACE Equality Code and is actively seeking applications from those from Black communities to ensure our Board is reflective of both the young people that we serve and our dedicated workforce.
About the Role
We are looking for a voluntary Director / Trustee with expertise in marketing, communications and/or public engagement to increase the reach of our campaigns. Our new Board member will need to strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to open doors and build relationships.

· Ensure marketing initiatives align with the organisation’s goals and regulatory requirements.
· Support St Basils’ PR and marketing initiatives by bringing knowledge of current marketing tools
· Help identify opportunities to increase the visibility and impact of St Basils’ campaigns.
· Leverage personal and professional networks to enhance the charity’s reach, partnerships and fundraising potential.
· Work closely with the Director of Income Generation & Value Capture to ensure St Basils’ marketing and communications strategies are being implemented effectively.
Our new Director / Trustee will sit on our Business Support & Audit Committee which oversees central functions, including Finance, HR, Fundraising and Marketing. This committee meets virtually, one a quarter.
Although the role is voluntary, reasonable expenses will be paid for costs incurred in undertaking the role.
About You
You will be an experienced professional in marketing, communications, PR or brand strategy, ideally with experience in the youth or homelessness sectors.
You will demonstrate sound judgement and be able to challenge confidently and constructively, although you do not need to have Board experience.
Understanding of governance and the responsibilities of a charity trustee is desirable, but training will be provided.
You will work within the principles of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and understand the needs of the diverse young people we serve.
You will put the needs of young people first, be passionate about ending youth homelessness and share our mission, vision and principles.
Time Commitment
You will need to be able to attend the majority of Board and Committee meetings, one of each is held each quarter (8 meetings total per year). Each meeting will last around 2 hours and will normally be held late afternoon/early evening (usually 4pm – 6pm). Board meetings are held in person at St Basils’ Head Office in Birmingham, and Committee meetings are held virtually via Microsoft Teams. The dates for meetings are set by calendar year, towards the end of the previous year.
Meeting papers will be shared via an online portal one week in advance of the meeting to allow for sufficient preparation time.
A Board away day is held each year, usually October, and every other year this includes an overnight stay. This will be fully paid for by St Basils.
We encourage Board members to visit our accommodation services to deepen understanding of our work and support effective governance and decision-making. We would like all Board members to make 2 visits a year if possible.
All travel expenses incurred in attending Board meetings / conducting site visits will be reimbursed by St Basils.
What’s in it for you?
We offer a series of essential online training courses (for example GDPR, Cyber Security, EDI, Safeguarding, Risk Management) and the opportunity to do additional online or in-person training, such as Psychologically Informed Environment training. As part of our commitment to race equality, we provide mandatory Anti-Racism training for all staff and Board members.
You will be part of a knowledgeable and supportive Board and have the opportunity to work alongside young people with lived experience.
You will have the guidance of a knowledgeable Chair to support your development as a Director / Trustee, and you will have access to St Basils’ Senior Leadership Team to help you fulfil your role.
St Basils is a learning organisation and therefore we are able to support and develop Board members who are new to the role. In addition, St Basils has membership with the Board Development Agency, which provides our Board Members with access to webinars and development tools specific to housing sector Boards.
Being a Director / Trustee at St Basils is more than just attending meetings – if you would like to contribute to an organisation that has young people at its core, where you can visibly see the difference you are making, then this is the role for you.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham is looking for a trustee to act as secretary, supporting the board's governance role helping AFRIL deliver for refugees and vulnerable migrants in south-east London. Time commitment is flexible, and not onerous, and formal company secretary functions are supported by a member of staff.
AFRIL was founded in 2006 to support asylum seekers, vulnerable migrants and refugees in south-east London to lift themselves out of poverty and rebuild their lives in the heart of our community. Our support is holistic: both crisis support to meet immediate need, and longer-term, flexible programmes that tackle the underlying problems that lead to crisis, supporting people to integrate, contribute and thrive. We work in the community across south-east London, including in local asylum hotels.
We are a small charity, with mostly part-time staff, but we make a significant difference. Our client group is predominantly people in, or with experience of, the asylum system. We also support newly granted refugees, and migrants with no recourse to public funds who have complex and unmet protection needs.
AFRIL's board of trustees is collectively responsible for supporting and challenging the charity to oversee its good governance and proper financial control in line with its charitable aims and strategic plan, charity law, and all other relevant legislation. The time required of trustees is not onerous, and is flexible - although it is, of course, possible to take on more responsibility and expand your time commitment.
As a board member, you will be expected to be available for board meetings approximately every two months, which are generally an hour and a half long and take place in a weekday evening. These mostly take place online, with occasional hybrid meetings or meetings in-person.
As secretary to the board, you will be responsible for the timetabling of meetings, the agenda, and for taking and sharing a minute of board meetings – just main points and actions – to support the board in carrying out our remit. You may also assist with other areas of support to the governance for the charity, such as ensuring that we maintain regular review of the organisation’s policies, and providing some assistance from time to time to the member of staff leading on liaison with the Charity Commission and Companies House.
You will also need to be able to commit some ad hoc time to consider papers ahead of meetings, and occasionally to take part in email discussion on issues as they arise. You would also be expected to attend the charity’s AGM, which tends to take place on a Saturday afternoon in January/February.
We value diversity in our trustee team, as we do in the staff team. We particularly welcome applications from anyone who can bring lived experience of the immigration and asylum system, and are always keen to see applications from people with experience with fundraising, or with HR. We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of age, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief.
To apply, please submit a short (no more than one side of A4) letter explaining why you would like to join AFRIL’s board, and what skills and experience you would bring to the role, along with your CV.
We support asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants to lift themselves out of poverty and rebuild their lives in the heart of our community.

Finance Trustee (and Co-Chair, Finance, Audit & Risk Committee)
Help end homelessness and shape the future of one of the UK's leading charities.
At Crisis, we believe that homelessness should not exist, and together we can end it. Our bold 10-year strategy is already driving change but with homelessness rising and funding challenges increasing, we know we must think differently, act courageously, and inspire more people to join us. For the first time in Crisis' nearly 60-year history, we are also becoming a direct housing provider.
We are now seeking an exceptional finance leader to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the organisation through an exciting and ambitious phase of our work.
This is an opportunity for a senior finance professional to use their expertise and strategic insight to influence decisions at the highest level, strengthen organisational resilience, and help drive lasting change for people experiencing homelessness across the UK.
About Crisis
We are the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We help people out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.
Our values are at the heart of everything we do. We're bold in our ambition, impactful in our approach, collaborative in how we work and equitable in championing fairness and inclusion.
About the role
As a Trustee, you will play a vital part in ensuring Crisis remains well governed, financially sustainable, and focused on achieving its mission.
Alongside the statutory responsibilities of being a trustee, you will bring specialist financial expertise to the Board and co-chair our Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. You will also contribute to oversight of our growing housing delivery function through membership of the relevant committee.
Working alongside fellow trustees and senior leaders, you will help shape long-term strategy, scrutinise performance, oversee risk, and ensure the organisation remains accountable, transparent and financially strong.
We are looking for someone with:
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with sound judgement and a collaborative approach. You'll be a trusted adviser who can challenge constructively, contribute to robust debate, and support effective decision-making. Most importantly, you'll share our belief that homelessness can be ended and be committed to helping make that vision a reality.
Diversity is hugely important to us at Crisis, and we want to make sure that our Trustees, staff and volunteers represent communities we support. As we continue to strengthen and broaden the perspectives represented on our Board, we particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of homelessness, whose insight is invaluable to our work. We also encourage applications from people from LGBTQ+ communities, ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people, and others who bring experiences and viewpoints that can contribute to a more inclusive and effective Board. Above all, we welcome candidates who share our values and are passionate about creating positive change.
Time commitment: Overall, the role requires approximately one day per month.
Remuneration
This is a voluntary, unremunerated trustee role.
Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. We are also committed to removing barriers to participation and may consider support where loss of earnings would otherwise prevent involvement.
Term of appointment
Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term, with the opportunity to be reappointed for a second term.
This is a rare opportunity to use your financial leadership and governance expertise to make a tangible difference to the lives of thousands of people experiencing homelessness.
If you are an experienced finance leader who wants to contribute your skills to a cause of national importance, we would love to hear from you, whether your background is in the private, public or voluntary sector.
How to apply:
Please apply by submitting a copy of your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a covering letter, not exceeding two pages, highlighting your suitability for the position and why you are interested. You can apply by sending your CV and covering letter to the email address contained in the supporting document, or by visiting the Crisis website.

· Interviews held on: 2 November 2026
· Location: Central London, in-person.
Please let us know if you anticipate any issues with these dates

Would you like to support people who have served in the Armed Forces? You just need the ability to listen, strong IT skills and good written and spoken English. If you think this could be the role for you, we’d love to hear from you.
What is a Caseworker?
Caseworkers visit clients to work out what type of support they need. You will listen without judgement to assess and provide tailored support to help those serving, who have served and their families to navigate life in and beyond military service. Some examples of support are securing funding for special equipment for someone with a disability, adaptions to a property so an older client can remain at home or funds for a rental deposit. Caseworkers also sign-post clients onto specialist local services for advice on benefits, housing, mental health, debt, finding work etc.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan. We’d love the general public to understand what we do and how they can help us.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
Volunteer Caseworkers are the lifeblood of SSAFA, supporting a growing number of people in need of financial, practical, and emotional support. Clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like Iraq or Afghanistan.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
The essential part of the role is visiting clients, so you will need access to a vehicle or another way to travel to meet clients at home or in a care home setting. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but you can complete the administration part of the role from home as long as you have access to IT equipment and the internet.
What would you be doing?
What can you gain from this volunteering role?
What training and support would you receive?
What are we looking for?
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities, races, sexual orientations, socio-economic backgrounds, and of all faiths and none. SSAFA are committed to making reasonable adjustments to support volunteers with disabilities, so they have access to the same opportunities and experiences as volunteers who do not.
Minimum Age: 18
Safer Recruitment: SSAFA undertakes a systematic approach and utmost care at every step of the process of volunteer recruitment, selection, and retention to ensure that those recruited are suitable and appropriate. Measures taken at points along this journey work together to make volunteering at SSAFA a positive and safe experience.
References Required: Yes. We will ask for two character references, this can be a former employer or someone that know you well (other than a relative)
Is a criminal record check required? Yes, this is provided by SSAFA at no cost to the potential volunteer. This role requires an enhanced check (including checks against the children and adults barred list)
*A disclosure certificate that contains convictions, cautions, warnings, reprimands, or other information may not automatically mean that you are not able to volunteer. All certificates will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and, where possible, a modified or alternative role will be offered.
Our vision A society in which the Armed Forces, veterans and their families can thrive.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
