As an E-commerce volunteer, you’ll help bring our shop online by selecting, preparing and listing items for sale on our digital platform.You’ll play a key role in turning donated goods into vital funds while keeping our online shop running smoothly.
Location: 244 – 246 High Street West, Sunderland
Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied.

We’ve designed our volunteering programme to be flexible and adaptive to you. All volunteering is 100% remote and you’re supported fully by our team. You control what you do and how many hours per week you want to volunteer. Some roles may require an Enhanced DBS check. How we will support you

Our membership offers young people and survivors a path to heal, learn digital skills and interactively participate in our Alchemic 369 Book Club, where members engage in weekly interactive discussions, debates and critical analysis of African, Caribbean and world history, Ifa, classics and political thought. Members will sharpen their reading, reasoning and imagination skills, with opportunities to discuss works directly with authors, highly subsidised plant-based transformative retreats and join a community designed to empower and educate.

Job Purpose:
To design, maintain, and manage the centralised Story Intelligence database, ensuring that all identified stories, leads, contacts, research notes, and outreach progress are accurately recorded, securely stored, and easily accessible to authorised team members.
This role exists to create a single source of truth for the organisation’s entire story pipeline, enabling seamless coordination between the Story Intelligence Team and the Outreach Team by ensuring that no lead, contact detail, or story insight is lost, duplicated, or mismanaged.
The Story Database Administrator is responsible for structuring and maintaining a clear and scalable data system that tracks every stage of the story lifecycle—from initial identification and qualification through to outreach, engagement, interview completion, or closure.
A core purpose of this role is to ensure that all information is consistently formatted, regularly updated, and categorised in a way that allows leadership and team members to quickly understand the status, priority, and context of each story at any given time.
The role also ensures that data integrity, confidentiality, and ethical handling of sensitive information are maintained at all times, particularly given the vulnerable nature of many individuals within the story pipeline.
Ultimately, this position provides the operational backbone of the Story Intelligence function, transforming dispersed research and outreach activity into a structured, reliable, and fully trackable intelligence system that supports efficient decision-making, ethical engagement, and long-term organisational scalability.
