Connect: North Korea works with North Korean escapees to recover, rebuild, and succeed. We were established in 2018 to address the complex challenges North Koreans face in building new lives after escaping the North Korean regime and reaching safety.

We are seeking a Legal Trustee to join our Board of Trustees at an exciting stage of growth. As we scale our programmes and deepen our impact in the UK and internationally, we are looking for an individual with strong legal expertise to support our governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic development.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Legal Trustee

LOCATION: Remote / 78 Coombe Road, New Malden, KT3 4QS

We usually hold board meetings online, but this is open to change.

COMMITMENT: 2 – 3 hours per month. We hold one annual away day we’d expect the board to attend.

Our Board meets every quarter for 2 hours. There is expected support between meetings. Our terms are capped at 3 years with potential for renewal for one additional term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute to good governance and strategic decision-making, ensuring the Board fulfils its responsibilities in line with our constitution, governance framework, and applicable legislation.

• Provide legal insight and oversight on regulatory compliance, risk, and organisational development, ensuring alignment with relevant legal frameworks

• Support the Board in maintaining high standards of governance, accountability, and transparency

• Use your networks and influence to promote the charity’s mission, acting as an ambassador to build relationships with donors, partners, and advocates.

• Work collaboratively with fellow trustees and the Chair to maintain a supportive, ambitious, and effective governance environment.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Demonstrable experience in a legal role (e.g. solicitor, barrister, in-house counsel).

• Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to charities

• Interpersonal and relationship-building skills and comfortable in an ambassadorial role.

• Demonstrable communication and teamwork skills with proven ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment.

• Able to make difficult evidence-based decisions, negotiate challenging conversations, and be able to balance competing interests

• Experience working or volunteering in diverse and cross-cultural environments.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience of charity law, regulatory compliance, or governance

• Lived experience of migration or of a refugee background is highly desirable.

• Korean speaker

• Be actively engaged in refugee and migrant rights, social change, and/or a related field

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Due to the nature of CNK’s work with people in vulnerable circumstances, including at times children, a DBS or criminal record check is required for this role, although a criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to working at CNK. 

• Candidates are required to commit a minimum of 2-3 hours per month to this role for at least one term of three years. 

• Charity trustee positions are unpaid voluntary roles. Any reasonable expenses will be reimbursed inline with CNK’s expenses policy.

However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

In 2025 we launched our arm chair volunteering initiative to help us spread the word about our service and to give people the opportunity to take part in surveys and projects to help us deliver the best mental health support to the UK public.

Important information:

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

The Feminist Shop

We promote gender equality through ethical products, books, education, and bespoke training and consulting.​

I am looking for a volunteer to help promote my book Childhood Unlimited: Parenting Beyond Gender Bias as it moves toward self-publishing and launch. (It used to be traditionally published but I have asked for my rights back so I can give it a better chance in the market)

The role will support marketing strategy, book visibility, audience growth, and promotional activity around the book’s themes of gender stereotypes, inclusive parenting, and practical social change.

This is a good opportunity for someone with experience or interest in book marketing, social media, launch campaigns, audience engagement, or feminist and educational content. The book already has a clear message and strong foundations, great testimonials and potential so the focus is on helping it reach the right readers and building awareness around the project, in a time that is more needed than ever.

Main tasks

• Help create and follow a simple marketing plan for the book.
• Support social media promotion and content ideas.
• Help identify relevant audiences, communities, podcasts, newsletters, and partners.
• Suggest launch ideas, outreach messages, and promotional opportunities.

Norfolk Tennis is the county governing body for tennis and padel in Norfolk and a volunteer-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity No. 1203480). We work in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association to support clubs, venues, coaches and players across the county, helping more people enjoy the physical, social and community benefits of tennis and padel. Our work aligns with the LTA’s “Tennis Opened Up” strategy, which aims to make the sport accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Norfolk Tennis is governed by a Board of Trustees supported by a volunteer Management Committee representing clubs, venues and key development areas across the county. As tennis and padel continue to grow, Norfolk Tennis is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees and contribute strategic leadership to the development of tennis and padel across the county.

About the Trustee Role
Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Norfolk Tennis is well governed, financially sustainable and strategically focused. Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the Management Committee, Trustees help ensure the organisation operates effectively as a charity while delivering meaningful impact for tennis and padel across the county.

Trustees are responsible for:

Working alongside the County Safeguarding Officer and fellow trustees, this role supports the Board in maintaining robust policies, procedures and governance frameworks that reflect both charity law and LTA safeguarding expectations.

About You

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Lay volunteer to serve as Deputy Chair of the Ministerial Candidates and Probationers Oversight Committee (MCPOC). This role supports the Chair in providing oversight of candidates, student ministers, and probationers, ensuring process are fair, consistent, and pastorally sensitive and that decisions are made in accordance with the Standing Orders of the Methodist Church.

The Deputy Chair will act on behalf of the Chair when required and contribute to the leadership, discernment, and development of the Committee’s work.

As the Deputy Chair of the MCPOC you will need a blend of experience, skills, and personal qualities, including:

• Some experience of chairing meetings or facilitating group discussion.
• Confidence in reading reports and contributing to fair, thoughtful discernment.
• Organised, reliable, and able to handle preparation, follow‑up, and occasional time‑sensitive work.
• A committed Christian whose life reflects the values and ethos of the Methodist Church, and who is respectful, fair‑minded, and supportive of others’ flourishing.
• Competent in Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 tools.
• Knowledge of Methodist governance or ministerial formation (desirable).

• Attendance at MCPOC meetings (typically 2 full days and one 24 hour residential per year).

Join Sense as an Events & Activities Volunteer and help create memorable experiences for disabled people with complex needs, their families, and carers across Birmingham. 

Whether you're a student looking to build your skills, enhance your CV, connect with your local community, or simply give back in your spare time, this flexible volunteering opportunity can fit around your studies, work, and other commitments.

What You'll Be Doing

No two events are the same! You could be:

• Welcoming visitors and helping create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
• Supporting disabled people and their families to take part in activities with confidence.
• Getting involved in arts, crafts, games, and creative activities.
• Helping set up and pack down event spaces.
• Running activity stalls, information stands, or family-friendly games.
• Sharing information about Sense and the support we provide.
• Assisting with fundraising activities at community events.
• Working alongside staff and fellow volunteers to ensure events run smoothly.

We'll regularly share upcoming volunteering opportunities with you, and you can choose the events that match your interests, location, and availability.

Who We're Looking For

You don't need previous experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

This role is ideal for students and community-minded individuals who are:

• Friendly, approachable, and confident engaging with people from all backgrounds.
• Passionate about making a positive impact.
• Reliable and committed to events they sign up for.
• Comfortable working as part of a team.
• Flexible and happy to support with a variety of activities.

Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be aged 16 or over. You must have a UK address to volunteer with Sense.
