At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. The Position

We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.

The role will include:

• Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis

• Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them

• Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting

• Supporting the design of new projects

• Supporting with proposal writing

• Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team

• Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies

• Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies

You should be able to:

• Professionally communicate in English (verbally and in writing)

• Read, comprehend, interpret, summarise and follow proposal guidelines

• Work to tight deadlines with flexibility and a problem-solving attitude;

• Conduct thorough, high-quality, independent research

• Work both independently and as part of a team

• Manage and prioritise projects effectively to meet team and proposal deadlines

The ideal candidate will have:

• Working knowledge of project management techniques such as LFA

• Knowledge of and experience with grant-giving bodies and other external funding sources (e.g. European Commission)

• A strong sense of logic while building an argument

Important Information

About The Stray Cat Charity (TSCC)

The Stray Cat Charity is a newly established UK-registered CIO working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray cats in Greece, starting in Patras. Our current priority campaign is to raise £35,000 to build a dedicated stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece, which will provide safe housing, veterinary care, and a pathway to adoption for vulnerable cats. As a growing new charity, we are building our fundraising and outreach network across the UK.

Role Purpose

We are looking for a motivated volunteer to support the growth of our charity by helping identify and connect with potential supporters in their local area. This includes community groups, schools, corporates, and potential major donors who may be interested in supporting or fundraising for stray cats in Greece. Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats.

Our Fundraising Events Organisersshare ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre andour annual Christmas Bazaar.

Time Expectation:  This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible. 

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a seasoned executive, rather than simply an experienced functional leader.

You will ideally bring 10–15+ years of senior leadership experience within the non-profit, international development or humanitarian sector, together with a track record of leading organisations through growth, transformation or complexity.

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience operating at executive or enterprise leadership level.
• A proven ability to deputise for a CEO or assume full executive responsibility when required.
• Experience leading across multiple countries and cultures, ideally with exposure to Africa and/or South Asia.
• Strong strategic and operational leadership, with the ability to move seamlessly between big-picture thinking and execution.
• A sophisticated understanding of governance, risk and compliance within an international non-profit environment.
• Strong fundraising and partnership instincts, with the credibility to engage senior donors and high-value partners.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience overseeing budgets of £5m+.
• Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills.
• The emotional intelligence and resilience to lead through uncertainty, change and organisational growth.
• Experience with French, Portuguese or relevant local languages would be advantageous.

Non-Executive Director (Board member) 

Positive Money is a leading international think tank and campaign organisation working to redesign our economic system for social justice and a liveable planet. We publish research, advocate for our proposals with politicians, policymakers, and the press, collaborate with civil society, and mobilise our community of supporters with digital campaigns. We work across six key areas: racial economic justice, finance and democracy, green finance, the future of money, housing, and macroeconomics.

We are seeking up to 4 new Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join the board of Positive Money UK. Our board is a non-executive body responsible for the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic direction, finances and governance. These positions are voluntary and unremunerated. Our board meets four times per year at our office in Vauxhall, and NEDs also support the organisation via membership of occasional working groups, or in reviewing policies or other documents.

We are looking for people who will bring strategic insight and either have, or wish to develop, a good understanding of governance. At a time when the funding landscape for our sector is volatile, we are also seeking people who can bring insight, experience or new connections to our fundraising efforts. We are also seeking a candidate with a strong finance background to take over from our current Non-Executive Finance Director, who will be retiring at the end of his term by the end of 2027. We are not seeking all these attributes in each candidate, and recognise that different candidates will bring different strengths and skillsets. About The Role
Our Campaigns and Storytelling Volunteers play a key role in how Doncaster Mind communicates its work with the Doncaster community, shares impact and connects people with support.

Through campaigns, digital content and storytelling, you will help us raise awareness of mental health, promote early support, and highlight the services available through Doncaster Mind, including prevention work, community services and our Rise Therapy service.

This flexible volunteer role can be carried out remotely from home, with a minimum commitment of just two hours per week, making it easy to fit around work, study or other commitments.

The role is suitable for people living in Doncaster who want to apply existing communications skills in a meaningful setting, as well as those looking to build experience and develop a portfolio in campaigns, content and storytelling.

What You’ll Do
You’ll support a range of communications and campaign activities, which may include:

• Creating social media posts and digital content
• Supporting awareness campaigns and key messages
• Writing or adapting copy for different audiences
• Helping share stories, case studies and impact updates
• Supporting website or newsletter content updates
• Contributing ideas for campaigns and engagement activity
• Helping promote events, services and community activity

• Community impact & supporter engagement - sharing stories, celebrating impact and helping inspire people, partners and communities to engage with Doncaster Mind.

 About African Child Trust (ACT)

ACT is a growing international development charity with a Christian ethos, dedicated to educating disadvantaged children and empowering widows in sub-Saharan Africa. Since 1998, we’ve supported children from primary school through to university and equipped widows with income-generating skills to sustain their families. Working with our local partners, we implement projects in education, livelihoods, sanitation, and health across eight African countries: Burkina Faso, DR Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

Internship Opportunities

We are looking for outgoing and self-motivated individuals who will fit easily into our team and are passionate about making a difference in the world. These roles are ideal for graduates wanting to gain experience in the international development and charity sectors. Gap year opportunities for students and current undergraduates will be considered.

These internships are ideal for at least three to six months or longer, to obtain the full benefit of your experience.

Qualities and attributes

Social Media & Communications

The ideal candidates will:

● Have excellent written communication skills;

● Be creative and inventive, and confident in putting forward and discussing new ideas;

● Have an eye for graphics and visual design;

● Have previous experience in social media; and

● Have a desire both to learn and to contribute to our work.

Events & Fundraising

The ideal candidates will:

● Have experience using Office suite (primarily Word and Excel);

● Exhibit strong research skills;

● Be highly organised and able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively;

● Be proactive with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills; and

● Have passion and empathy for the ethos of ACT.

Key responsibilities

Social Media & Communications

● Writing high-quality blogs and news articles and carrying out related research.

● Using Canva to create graphics for social media and scheduling posts via Buffer.

● Actively engaging with online supporters and followers.

● Promoting ACT’s events via social media platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook and LinkedIn).

● Engaging with social media analytics and adapting social media presence accordingly.

Events & Fundraising

● Assisting our small team with research pertaining to grant-funding opportunities.

● Provide research on potential corporate and school partnerships.

● Engaging with supporters in relation to fundraising activities, events and campaigns.

● Providing administrative and clerical support to staff.

● Inputting information into our CRM system.

Hours: Flexible; the position can be done remotely, but ideally, the successful applicant would be willing to travel to our Croydon office one day a week.

At Cede Foundation, we create safe, welcoming spaces where children can learn, play, build confidence and enjoy positive experiences during the school holidays.

We are looking for friendly, caring and reliable volunteers to support our holiday club activities. Volunteering with us is a great way to help children take part in fun activities, make friends and enjoy a supportive space during their school break.

As a volunteer, you will work alongside staff and other volunteers to help the day run smoothly and make sure every child feels welcome, included and encouraged.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys spending time with children, likes hands-on volunteering and wants to make a positive difference in their community.

What you will be doing

You will help make our holiday club a safe, positive and fun place for children.

Your tasks may include:

• Helping to prepare activity spaces before children arrive
• Welcoming children and families and helping with registration
• Assisting with games, creative activities, sports and group sessions
• Encouraging children to join in and feel confident taking part
• Supporting children during transitions between activities
• Helping with snacks, resources and general session coordination
• Assisting staff with attendance, feedback or simple record-keeping tasks where needed
• Helping to tidy activity spaces at the end of the day
• Promoting a friendly, inclusive and respectful atmosphere throughout the session

You will not be expected to lead sessions alone or take on staff responsibilities. A staff member or an activity leader will be there to support you throughout.

Who we are looking for

You do not need formal experience to apply, but you should be comfortable around children and willing to follow guidance.

Time commitment

Our holiday club sessions run during the school holidays, usually from 10 am to 2 pm on selected programme days.

Reasonable out-of-pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with our volunteer expenses policy.

Our next holiday club starts on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
