We’re looking for three new Trustees to provide strategic direction and keep our ambitious plans for a wilder future on track.

We want our Board to reflect our community and actively encourage applications from people of all identities and walks of life. We particularly invite applications from groups currently underrepresented within environmental charities including people from ethnic minority backgrounds and those with disabilities. 

In return for your input, we’ll give you fascinating insights into nature and charity operations, lively and respectful debate and field visits with expert staff.

About you

You don’t need to be an expert on wildlife. We only ask that you care deeply about it.

Nor do you need to have had a long career. We only ask that you’re over 18.

And you don’t need to be a member of the Wildlife Trust to apply, although we will ask you to join if you’re appointed.

Time commitment

You’ll attend up to eight evening meetings per year – 6pm to 8pm. One meeting is in-person at our offices in Cambourne; the others are hybrid. You’ll need to read papers in advance and come ready to contribute to the discussion.

We have an annual strategy away day in the working week and we encourage Trustees to attend our AGM and Members’ Day on a Saturday.

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term. 

Global Health Access Trust is looking for a Governance & Charity Administration Volunteer to help strengthen the records, policies and administrative foundations of an international charitable organisation working towards registration.

This opportunity would suit someone with governance, legal, charity administration or senior administrative experience who enjoys bringing order, accuracy and follow-through to important organisational work.

Purpose of the Role:

To lead engaging cookery sessions as part of the Baytree Centre’s GEMS programme for girls aged 5–18. By creating a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment, you will help participants learn new cooking skills, explore different recipes, and build confidence in the kitchen. You will assist with facilitating and supporting cookery lessons that encourage creativity, teamwork, and healthy living.

Main Responsibilities:

- Assist in preparing and facilitating cookery-focused after-school sessions, providing guidance and encouragement to participants.

- Support the delivery of age-appropriate cooking activities that promote learning, creativity, and personal development.

- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where girls feel confident trying new recipes, expressing themselves, and working as part of a team.

- Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking and organising resources to ensure smooth running of sessions.

- Adhere to Baytree Centre policies and safeguarding procedures.

Skills and Qualities Required:

 - Empathy and patience to work effectively with girls of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

- Strong communication skills to engage positively with participants, other volunteers, and staff.

- Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and delivering engaging cooking activities.

Commitment:

 - One session of about an hour and a half each week, with a commitment of at least two terms.

- Exact timings will follow the GEMS programme timetable. Sessions usually take place Monday to Thursday between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

The Career Champions programme pairs young people with mentors working in their field of interest, for example, a girl aspiring to become an architect is matched with a practising architect, to provide insight into career pathways, develop professional skills, and build confidence. By sharing knowledge, experience, and encouragement, mentors support participants in making informed decisions about their future education and career choices.

Main Responsibilities:

- Deliver six structured mentoring sessions tailored to the mentee’s career interests and goals.

- Share knowledge, experiences, and practical advice about the mentor’s professional field.

- Introduce mentees to key skills, qualifications, and opportunities relevant to the chosen career.

- Support mentees in setting short- and long-term career-related goals, providing guidance on how to achieve them.

- Foster a positive and supportive relationship that builds the mentee’s confidence, motivation, and resilience.

- Where appropriate, provide insights into workplace culture, networking, and professional development.

- Maintain communication with the programme coordinator to track progress and address any concerns.

Maintenance Volunteer

About the Role

As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will help maintain and improve the homes and environments of people with autism, sight loss, and learning disabilities. Your support will help create safe, comfortable, and welcoming spaces where people can thrive.

This role involves practical tasks such as painting, decorating, gardening, and general DIY. Please note that electrical, plumbing, and gas work are not included in this volunteer role.

• Play an active part in the volunteer committee, being part of the team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat welfare team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with Cats Protection policy and procedures

Time expectation

The cat adoption team leader role is vital within our busy volunteer teams. Our current volunteers spend around 10 to 12 hours per week in this flexible role, which can be shared by more than one volunteer if required.

Your role is to support the Youth Programmes Coordinator at the Baytree Centre in delivering our GEMS programme, which provides after-school clubs and activities for young people and their families. You will help ensure the smooth running of sessions, engage positively with participants, and contribute to building a safe, welcoming, and empowering environment.

Main responsibilities:

- Work closely with the programme coordinator to plan, support, and sometimes lead after-school clubs.

- Accurately input and maintain data and records on Baytree’s internal database.

- Assist in designing promotional materials such as posters, leaflets, and timetables.

- Conduct focus groups and surveys to gather feedback from the girls and young people using the service. - Run errands and source resources needed for activities.

- Engage positively and respectfully with the young people and families accessing the centre.

- Support the Youth Team with any additional tasks necessary to ensure smooth service delivery.

- Follow all Baytree Centre policies and procedures.

- Complete volunteer questionnaires and evaluations as requested.

- Work directly with clients across Baytree services (e.g. youth clubs, workshops, reception, and befriending activities).

Skills and qualities required:

- Good interpersonal skills, able to work well within a diverse team.

- Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Good time management and organisational skills.

Role Summary

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will be responsible for helping create and implementing strategies to fundraise from both existing and new sources (individuals, mosques, grants etc.) with the aim of securing the long-term financial stability of Roots Academy.

Key tasks

Fundraising Planning:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve income goals.
• Identify potential new funding sources and opportunities for income generation.

Campaign Management:

• Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, including direct appeals, online campaigns, and fundraising events at mosques.
• Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling fundraising material.

Proposal Development:

• Research trusts, foundations and corporations for grant opportunities.
• Work with the team to develop proposals, supporting with grant writing when needed.

Budget Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance team to monitor fundraising budgets, expenditure, and financial projections.

Donor Relations:

• Support with Donor Communications in activities related to donor relationship management and stewardship.

• Experience in organising fundraising campaigns and events, including digital fundraising strategies
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, including donor cultivation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organisation’s mission and impact to diverse audiences
