Trustees, including a treasurer, are needed for a leading charity helping people with dissociative disorders.
CDS UK (Clinic for Dissociative Studies) is a specialist service offering assessments and treatment for people with dissociative disorders and an independent charitable provider to the NHS.
CDS provides diagnosis, outpatient treatment, clinical supervision, consultancy and training all over the UK. We also participate in research and education, contributing to what we hope is a greater understanding of dissociative disorders.
Dissociative disorders typically arise in response to extreme and repetitive trauma and/or abuse in early childhood. Dissociation can be a survival mechanism and adaptive response to overwhelming and traumatic experiences, enabling an individual to endure life events that no one person could be expected to manage without a severe impact on their wellbeing. Trustees are central to ensuring that CDS provides the best possible help for extremely vulnerable clients.
At CDS, we are committed to a culture of continuous improvement and organisational development, ensuring that our services, people, and governance evolve to meet the needs of those we support. Our work is grounded in our core values of Respect, Choice, Compassion, Openness and Working Together, which shape how we collaborate, make decisions, and deliver impact.
To build a well-balanced and rounded board CDS is looking for trustees, including a treasurer, with expertise in any of the following:
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we serve. Founding Director of People, Culture & HR Innovation
Help us fix HR today — and design what HR becomes tomorrow.
We are looking for an experienced HR leader who is ready to do something very different.
Someone who understands HR, but also sees where it has become too bureaucratic, too process-driven and too disconnected from the creativity, ambition and humanity of the people it is supposed to support.
This is not a conventional HR management role.
This is a high-stakes founding opportunity to help rebuild our HR function from the ground up — while working with a team to design an entirely new, people-first way of working that could challenge the status quo.
The opportunity
Our immediate mission is practical: clean up, strengthen and professionalise our existing HR department.
That means looking honestly at what currently exists, identifying what works, what does not, what is missing and what has become unnecessarily complicated — then putting the right structures, policies, processes, governance and people practices in place.
But that is only the beginning.
Alongside fixing today's HR function, you will help us design the blueprint for the next generation of HR: an open-source HR platform and new way of working designed around people, creativity, innovation, development, fairness, accountability and better organisational culture.
We believe HR should be more than policies, procedures and risk management.
People are not processes.
Organisations should be places where people can think, create, challenge, develop, contribute and do meaningful work — while still having strong structures, accountability and professional standards.
We want to explore what HR could look like if we designed it around that principle from the beginning.
Two connected missions
1. Fix and strengthen HR today
You will initially help us:
Review the existing HR function, structures and practices
Identify gaps, weaknesses, risks and unnecessary bureaucracy
Establish appropriate HR policies, procedures and governance
Strengthen recruitment and onboarding
Improve employee experience and people support
Develop better approaches to performance, learning and development
Ensure appropriate employment practices and HR compliance
Create systems that can scale as the organisation grows
Help build a strong people and culture foundation
2. Help invent HR for tomorrow
At the same time, you will work with the founding team to explore and develop:
A blueprint for a new open-source HR platform
A people-first approach to organisational design
New approaches to employee voice and participation
Better models for creativity, innovation and collaboration
New approaches to leadership and personal development
Psychological safety and healthy organisational culture
Fairness, accountability and transparency
The appropriate use of technology and AI in HR
New ways of measuring organisational health and employee experience
A framework that other organisations could potentially adopt, adapt and build upon
The ambition is not simply to improve HR within one organisation.
It is to ask:
What would HR look like if we were brave enough to redesign it properly?
You will be joining at a stage where there is significant work to do, significant problems to solve and significant things yet to be built.
That is precisely what makes the opportunity different.
For the right person, this could become a paid founding leadership position as the organisation develops, funding is secured and the wider structure is operationalised.
We are looking for someone who sees the potential in that journey rather than simply looking for an established job description and a finished organisation to step into.
This is an opportunity to:
build something.
lead something.
invent something.
leave a legacy.
If you have spent years watching organisations operate in ways that you knew could be better — and quietly thinking “someone should really change this” — this may be your opportunity to actually be one of the people who does.
You will not be doing it alone.
You will have the opportunity to build and work alongside a founding team, bring ideas into reality, test new approaches, learn from what does and does not work, and help shape something that can grow beyond its original founders.
The legacy opportunity
We are particularly interested in people who want their work to mean something beyond another position on a CV.
The long-term ambition is to create something that can be shared, developed and potentially adopted by others.
If successful, the HR model you help create could become part of a much larger body of work — something that demonstrates that organisations can be both high-performing and deeply human.
That is the opportunity.
Not to inherit someone else's HR system.
To help invent a better one.
Who we are looking for
You may be an experienced:
HR Director
Head of People
People & Culture Director
HR Transformation Leader
Organisational Development Leader
Senior HR Consultant
HR strategist or practitioner
You should have substantial practical HR experience and understand the realities of employment, governance, organisational risk and people management.
But experience alone is not enough.
We want someone who:
Thinks critically about conventional HR
Is comfortable challenging established thinking
Can distinguish between necessary structure and unnecessary bureaucracy
Is genuinely people-centred
Understands organisational design and culture
Can move between strategy and practical implementation
Has an interest in innovation, technology and AI
Is capable of building systems rather than simply operating them
Can work collaboratively with founders and other senior leaders
Is comfortable working in an environment where not everything has already been figured out
Wants to create, experiment and improve — not simply maintain the status quo
Most importantly, you should want to build something.
What we can offer
This is initially a voluntary founding leadership opportunity during Phase 1, as the organisation develops its foundations, structures, funding and operating model.
However, the intention is that the right founding leaders can have the opportunity to progress into substantive paid leadership positions as the organisation grows and the relevant funding and operational capacity are secured.
This is therefore an opportunity to get involved early, have genuine influence over the direction of the organisation and potentially grow with what you help build.
You will have the opportunity to:
Shape the HR function from an early stage
Work directly with the founding leadership team
Influence organisational culture from the beginning
Help develop an original HR model
Build a team around the work as the organisation grows
Contribute to something with potential beyond the organisation itself
Establish yourself as a founding leader in an emerging model of people and organisational practice
Progress into a paid founding leadership positionh

Bite Back is overseen by a dedicated Board of Trustees, led by Chair Dr. Dolly van Tulleken.
The Board is responsible for ensuring the charity fulfills its mission, remains strictly youth-led, and maintains robust financial and operational governance. Our Board currently includes experienced professionals across health, education, finance, campaigns, and youth engagement, alongside Youth Trustees who bring essential lived experience to our governance. Our Board has a Finance Sub-Committee to support specifically with the long-term financial sustainability of the charity.

A fair food system means our working culture and values - Real, Respectful, Resilient, Fresh and Energetic - reflects this vision. We support our staf , ambassadors and trustees to live Bite Back’s values in their work.
At Bite Back, DEIB means that our people are able to join and navigate the workplace, trusting they’ll be supported to thrive, and that we’ll respond with compassion and make change when things fall short. We recognise the systems of oppression which keep marginalised groups from power, and seek to proactively build equity. We are intentional about representation. We actively recruit under-represented voices, ensuring our staf team and youth board are representative of a wide variety of lived experiences.
We push to improve outcomes for those kept furthest from power, celebrate differences and ensure accessibility is built in, not added on. Our aspiration and intention is that Bite Back is an organisation that recognises, shares and acts on its power and responsibility to young people, employees, community and wider society, driving equity and inclusion in every space, and in every decision.
You can read more about how we approach DEI-B on our website.
We are intentional about representation and equity:
● Youth-Led Representation: We ensure our core movement including over 70+ Youth Activists and thousands of young campaigners across England and Scotland reflects the rich diversity of young people most impacted by food insecurity and junk food marketing.
● Proactive Inclusion: We actively recruit under-represented voices to our staff team and Board of Trustees, celebrating difference and embedding accessibility into everything we do by design.
● Continuous Improvement: We continually review and embed inclusive practices across our recruitment, organisational culture, campaign priorities, and board governance.

We're recruiting on behalf of our partners at MINDSET.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER (MINDSET Charity)
Shape the Training. Shape the Standards. Shape the Future.
MINDSET is a bold new preventative mental‑fitness charity for teenage boys and men in London — launching this November. We’re building a modern, high‑energy, stigma‑free space where men learn the habits, systems, and psychological tools to stay strong long before crisis hits.
To make this mission real, we need a Training & Development Volunteer who can help us build the backbone of our organisation: the training systems that prepare every volunteer to deliver our programmes safely, confidently, and with impact.
If you’re passionate about coaching, personal development, and empowering others to grow — this is your moment.
THE ROLE: TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER (Volunteer) - HYBRID
We’re looking for someone who can design and deliver simple, effective, modern training experiences for our volunteer team. You’ll help create the learning culture that defines MINDSET — energetic, practical, stigma‑free, and focused on real‑world skills.
You’ll lead on:
Designing micro‑training modules for new volunteers (Motivational Interviewing basics, boundaries, communication, safeguarding awareness).
Creating onboarding training sessions that feel modern, inspiring, and easy to follow.
Developing short digital learning resources (slides, guides, videos, checklists).
Supporting volunteers as they learn our 12‑week Mental Fitness Programme.
Helping build a culture of growth, confidence, and continuous improvement.
Ensuring volunteers understand the difference between coaching and therapy.
Embedding the MINDSET ethos into every training experience.
Your work will directly shape how every volunteer shows up — how they coach, how they communicate, how they support boys and men through our programme.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who:
Loves breaking down ideas into simple, practical steps.
Has experience in coaching, personal development, youth work, or training.
Enjoys creating engaging learning materials.
Can bring energy and positivity into group sessions.
Understands the importance of boundaries and safe practice.
Wants to help build a charity from the ground up.
Can commit a few hours a week between now and November.
If you’re the kind of person who naturally lifts others up and helps them perform at their best, you’ll thrive here.
WHY JOIN MINDSET?
1. Because you’ll shape how every volunteer learns and grows.
Your training will define the quality, confidence, and impact of our entire team.
2. Because our culture is modern, bold, and inspiring.
Think Gymshark, Huel, MyProtein — not a traditional charity training manual.
3. Because your work will change lives.
Every volunteer you train will help boys and men build habits that keep them strong.
4. Because you’ll be part of a founding team.
Your training systems will influence how MINDSET grows for years to come.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
Real experience designing training for a fast‑moving charity start‑up.
A chance to shape the learning culture of a brand‑new organisation.
A supportive, passionate team who value your ideas.
Flexible volunteering you can fit around your life.
The satisfaction of knowing your work is helping prevent silent suffering.
