Ultimately, this role ensures the organisation maintains a consistent flow of credible, relevant, and timely story opportunities by continuously scanning the public landscape and translating discovery into structured, usable intelligence for outreach and engagement.

Non-Executive Director (Board member)
Positive Money is a leading international think tank and campaign organisation working to redesign our economic system for social justice and a liveable planet. We publish research, advocate for our proposals with politicians, policymakers, and the press, collaborate with civil society, and mobilise our community of supporters with digital campaigns. We work across six key areas: racial economic justice, finance and democracy, green finance, the future of money, housing, and macroeconomics.
We are seeking up to 4 new Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join the board of Positive Money UK. Our board is a non-executive body responsible for the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic direction, finances and governance. These positions are voluntary and unremunerated. Our board meets four times per year at our office in Vauxhall, and NEDs also support the organisation via membership of occasional working groups, or in reviewing policies or other documents.
We are looking for people who will bring strategic insight and either have, or wish to develop, a good understanding of governance. At a time when the funding landscape for our sector is volatile, we are also seeking people who can bring insight, experience or new connections to our fundraising efforts. We are also seeking a candidate with a strong finance background to take over from our current Non-Executive Finance Director, who will be retiring at the end of his term by the end of 2027. We are not seeking all these attributes in each candidate, and recognise that different candidates will bring different strengths and skillsets. See our application pack (link below) for full details
We are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and aim to dismantle oppression in all areas of our work. If you have any questions or considerations you would like us to accommodate in the recruitment process, please contact us.
Contract: Voluntary unremunerated position
Time commitment: Attendance at four board meetings annually, including at least three in person. NEDs may also be asked to review policies, proposals or other documents for the organisation or serve on occasional working groups. NEDs generally spend 3-5 hours per month on Board work.
Deadline: Closing date for applications is 9am Mon 7th Sept with interviews held on Wed 16th Sept
There will also be an open webinar on Wed 26th August at 6pm at which some current board members and Co-ED’s at Positive Money will speak a little more about the organisation and the role, and take questions.
Start Date: We aim to appoint new NEDs formally at our Dec board meeting. We may also invite successful candidates to attend some upcoming strategy development sessions this autumn, see application pack for dates and further details.

Are you creative and tech-savvy? Are you passionate about sustainability, tackling food waste or supporting local communities?
We are recruiting a Volunteer Social Media Intern to join our food charity for a 6-month placement. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in charity communications while helping us reach more volunteers, supporters and people who benefit from our work. You don’t need previous professional experience - just creativity, initiative, and strong basic computer skills. We’re especially keen to hear from people who are confident using social media and Canva, and enjoy creating engaging content that connects with audiences.
The role is remote, with the potential to come into our Brixton office if you prefer. You’ll work closely with charity staff to promote our upcoming projects, raise awareness of our work, and help rebuild our social media presence as we launch new projects in 2027. We’re looking for a commitment of 16–20 hours per week.
Who we are:
Founded in 2018, Compliments of The House (CoTH) began by collecting surplus cooked food from Brixton Village and surrounding areas, and redistributing it free to people in need. From our local hubs we served our guests, and also ran our ‘Back to Work’ and ‘Care Leaver’ schemes.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, we could not host our guests in our hub. So we launched a temporary grocery delivery scheme supported by local council school buses, which gained recognition from the Prime Minister due to its impact.
Since then, we have found a new venture to channel our commitments to reducing the environmental impact within hospitality whilst nourishing people through food. We are so lucky to have many vibrant and diverse festivals locally and across the UK, which produce a whopping 400 tonnes in food waste every year! We’re taking on the challenge to reduce that waste and use it to nourish those in need.
We’re looking for someone:
Experienced using Canva (or confident in transferable skills with similar software)
With excellent written communication skills
With basic computer skills
Who can manage their own work and time
Organised and reliable
Confident using social media platforms, with a good understanding of maximising engagement and willingness to learn more
Passionate about sustainability, reducing food waste or supporting communities
Eager to learn and contribute new ideas
Responsibilities:
Create engaging and relevant social media content (with guidance) for various platforms using Canva
Organise a regular posting schedule
Awareness of methods to boost engagement
Write interesting captions to promote further engagement
Research relevant awareness days and events
Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to grow our online community
Assist with measuring the success of campaigns using social media analytics
What You'll Gain
Hands-on experience managing social media for a growing charity
A portfolio of real campaigns and content
Training, support and regular feedback
A professional reference on successful completion of the placement
The opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping reduce food waste and improve access to nutritious food
