Read Easy provides free, confidential, one to one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, through a network of volunteer groups.
The Coordinator is the first point of contact for those who want to learn to read. They are vital in matching our Reader and Coach pairs and supporting them as they make progress.
Role of a Coordinator:
● Help interview new Coaches when recruited and shortlisted by the Volunteer Recruiter
● Enrol and assess new Readers, using the simple resources provided
● Match Readers with Coaches, make introductions, and help them organise their reading sessions (which will take place in an approved venue or online)
● Visit your reading pairs to provide encouragement, presenting certificates on occasion
● Work collaboratively with any other Coordinators in the group.
● Contribute to Coach meetings where volunteers discuss their experiences and receive further support. (Run by the Management Team typically every 8 weeks)
● Attend Management Team meetings when invited, typically every 6-8 weeks either in person or remotely
● Record progress of your reading pairs using resources provided, sharing these with the Management Team to keep them fully informed and submit expenses for payment regularly
Skills needed:
● A passion for supporting others achieve either their reading or coaching goals
● A willingness to become familiar with the methods of the phonics based Turning Pages coaching manuals, so that you can confidently guide others
● Good communication and people skills, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
● Strong organisational, time management and record keeping skills
● Self-awareness, personal responsibility and a professional approach
● Reasonable confidence in using IT (accessing documents, completing electronic forms and records, email, Teams/Zoom meetings)
● The ability to use initiative and willingness to work independently and as part of a team
● A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures;
● An open attitude that encourages two-way communication and willingness to ask for support from the Management Team
● A non-judgemental attitude and respect for others, with a commitment to equality and diversity, so that you can make everyone feel valued and included

Ideally you will be based in the Keynsham area. The role can be done mainly from home but there will be occasional travel to meet Coaches and Readers. This role is very flexible and can fit around other commitments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Volunteer Meet and Greet to support the Therapy Team at Mind in Enfield and Barnet (MiEB). This role involves sitting at the reception desk and acting as a first point of contact, helping to create a friendly, welcoming and supportive environment for clients, visitors and staff. You will offer clear directional guidance, practical assistance and information about services and activities, helping people feel safe, comfortable and supported when they arrive. Key Responsibilities:
Help create a friendly and inclusive environment by greeting clients and visitors in a warm and professional manner

About the role
As a Peer Support Volunteer you will have lived experience of mental health and support service users on a wide range of non-complex issues that can be easily and quickly resolved. You will bring added skills and experience to our service and add real value to our team. You will provide additional support at our Peer Support group sessions. This could be, for example, by empathising with potential clients about the difficulties that having a mental health problem can create, helping to set up the room, explaining the services that are on offer and how these can be accessed, putting people who are anxious at ease by welcoming them. Peer volunteers can also co-facilitate groups based on personal skills and experience. Ideally, you will be able to commit a minimum of 3 hours per week.
Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.
This role requires an Enhanced DBS check, which will be arranged and paid for by Rethink Mental Illness.

As a Community Support Volunteer, you will complete face-to-face befriending activities with service users. You need to be able to travel around the locality in which you live to be able to do this. Branch Coordinator
Across the UK, our 65 local branches help disabled people live more independently. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

As a Macmillan Information & Advice Hub Volunteer, you’ll get a chance to meet new people and be part of an amazing team of Volunteers. It is really important to us that we provide the practical and emotional assistance required to our clients and that's why both Macmillan and ourselves will give you the support, supervision, volunteer insurance, and training required for the role.
The Hub is a drop in facility aimed at giving advice to local residents living with cancer, their friends and family or even fellow professionals. You will be providing face-to-face assistance which will include giving out high quality Macmillan advice resources or signposting to other service (all with the support of an employed Co-ordinator). You will also be providing emotional support by showing empathy, actively listening, and providing encouragement and reassurance. Read Easy groups are changing the lives of individual adults across the country by providing them with the support they need to learn to read, and in turn opening doors for them to all sorts of new opportunities in life. Outline of the Coordinator role
The Coordinator is the first point of contact for those who want to learn to read. Using a simple assessment, the Coordinator will explain to a potential new ‘Reader’ how Read Easy may be able to help them. The Coordinator pairs up new Coaches with those who want to learn to read and provides ongoing support to these reading pairs. They visit reading sessions occasionally and maintain support through regular calls with both Reader and Coach to check all is going well, calling on the group’s Literacy Specialist to respond to any literacy related difficulties a pair may be having. Being a Read Easy Coordinator is very flexible. You decide how much time you have to offer, and this will determine the number of reading pairs you look after. The role provides lots of variety, is home-based and can work well around other commitments.
How we will support you
You will be provided with the Coordinator Handbook, training, induction, policies, resources and guidance specifically needed for this role, including access to support from a Read Easy UK Regional Adviser. In addition, the Coordinator Supporter will meet with you regularly to provide support and find out how your Reading Pairs are getting on. You will be invited to Read Easy UK’s volunteer forums and National Conference which gives volunteers an opportunity for networking with those from other groups.

· Support workshops on:

· Conduct basic surveys and collect community feedback
· Observe and document hygiene practices and health awareness levels
· Assist in preparing reports and case studies

About the role
As Volunteer Coordinator, you will help ensure volunteers feel informed, valued and supported in their roles.
You will be the main point of contact for volunteers, matching them with suitable opportunities and ensuring a positive, inclusive experience.

This role is primarily in-person in Manchester, with some agreed tasks completed remotely where appropriate.
