Shelter Norfolk
Are you comfortable speaking with people? Would you like to gather meaningful data for Shelter while you do so?
Information about the role
In this role, you’ll be phoning people who have previously contacted Shelter for advice. The purpose is to gather feedback from them on their experience with Shelter and how that has impacted upon their housing and general wellbeing. This helps us identify the impacts our service is having, and whether there is anything we should do differently.
Location: Shelter Hub, Norwich
Suggested contribution: One day per week (can be flexible around your commitments).
Availability: Volunteering will take place at a time that suits you, within Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm
The above is the essential information you need to know. You can apply now by clicking ‘fill in an application’ or read on more for details.
Main activities may include:
· Phoning clients around 8-10 weeks after they accessed our services.
· Asking clients set questions to gather information on their experiences with Shelter and the difference it has made to them.
· Recording the phone calls and the responses given onto our client database (CRM).
· Presenting findings from the feedback calls in an accessible format e.g. using Word or Excel.
· Identifying key findings and/or trends and sharing with a relevant team member.
This role fights the housing emergency by identifying the impacts our advice services are having on clients, as well as whether there’s any changes we should make.
Benefits of volunteering with Shelter
Volunteers are essential to Shelter’s mission to end housing injustice. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. The insights and life experiences our volunteers bring to Shelter are valued as much as their contribution through volunteering.
We aim to provide our volunteers with a positive experience. This is by prioritising accessibility and tailoring the support we provide to the needs of the individual. We make sure our policies and processes are equitable, which means that no-one is unfairly disadvantaged while volunteering because of their background or identity.
Your skills and experience
The volunteer in this role will need to have basic IT skills, be comfortable speaking over the telephone and be considerate of their language and tone. We also recommend the volunteer to have some resilience to potentially challenging conversations. But the most important thing is that you care about fighting the housing emergency!
Supporting you
· You will be provided with an induction into your role, access to relevant learning and a copy of our volunteer handbook.
· The role, including learning and communications, are flexible, so can be tailored so they best suit your needs and preferences.
· You will be able to claim reasonable volunteering expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer expenses policy. Where financial circumstances would be a barrier to volunteering, we may be able to offer these funds in advance.
· You will be able to access our volunteer support package, including our colleague assistance programme and Shelter’s network of mental health first aiders.
Next steps
You can apply for this role by clicking ‘fill in an application’. If you need to apply by an alternative method, please contact us to see what options are available.
We will then get back to you about your application. Shortlisted applicants will have a recruitment conversation to discuss the role further.
Upon offer of role, you will be asked to declare any unspent convictions and complete a basic level Criminal Record Check. Having a criminal record does not automatically mean you can’t volunteer with us. We will have a conversation with you to discuss the convictions in relation to the role you have applied for. Sometimes it may limit the ways you can get involved. Please contact us if you require more information.

We're recruiting on behalf of our partners at MINDSET.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR (MINDSET Charity)
Build the Team. Build the Culture. Build the Movement.
MINDSET is a bold new preventative mental fitness charity for teenage boys and men in London — launching this November. We’re creating a modern, high‑energy, stigma‑free space where men learn the habits, systems, and psychological tools to stay strong long before crisis hits.
To make this mission real, we need a Volunteer Coordinator who can build the beating heart of our organisation: our volunteer team.
If you’re passionate about people, culture, and creating environments where others thrive — this is your moment.
THE ROLE: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR (Volunteer)
We’re looking for a proactive, organised, people‑focused leader who can build our volunteer programme from the ground up. You’ll help shape the culture, recruit the team, and create the systems that make MINDSET a place volunteers want to be part of.
You’ll lead on:
Setting up our volunteer programme from scratch.
Recruiting our first wave of volunteers for November launch.
Designing a warm, structured onboarding experience.
Creating a team‑spirit culture rooted in energy, accountability, and purpose.
Supporting volunteers as they deliver our 12‑week mental fitness programmes.
Building simple, effective systems for communication, scheduling, and engagement.
Championing the MINDSET ethos — modern, bold, stigma‑free, and focused on growth.
Your work will directly shape the experience of every volunteer who joins us. You’ll be the person who sets the tone, builds the community, and ensures our team feels supported, valued, and inspired.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience of managing volunteers, HR or recruitment.
Loves building positive, energetic team cultures.
Is organised, reliable, and great at follow‑through.
Enjoys connecting with people and spotting potential.
Can create simple systems that make volunteering easy.
Wants to help build a charity from the ground up.
Can commit a few hours a week between now and November.
Believes in preventative mental fitness and early intervention.
If you’re the kind of person who naturally brings people together, you’ll thrive here.
WHY JOIN MINDSET?
1. Because you’ll shape the entire volunteer experience.
You’re not stepping into an existing system — you’re building it.
2. Because our culture is modern, energetic, and inspiring.
Think Gymshark, Huel, MyProtein — not a traditional charity bureaucracy.
3. Because your work will change lives.
Every volunteer you recruit will help boys and men build habits that keep them strong.
4. Because you’ll be part of a founding team.
Your leadership will influence how MINDSET grows for years to come.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
A chance to build a volunteer programme from day one.
Real leadership experience in a fast‑moving charity start‑up.
A supportive, passionate team who value your ideas.
Flexible volunteering you can fit around your life.
The satisfaction of knowing your work is helping prevent silent suffering.
JOIN US.
HELP US BUILD THE TEAM THAT BUILDS THE MOVEMENT.
If you’re ready to create a volunteer culture full of energy, purpose, and impact, we’d love to hear from you.

About Us
Medaille Trust is one of the leading providers of support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We are working to provide refuge and freedom for survivors and fighting to see slavery in all its forms become a thing of the past. The need for this work has never been higher, there are more than 50 million estimated victims of modern slavery worldwide, and over 120,000 potential victims in the UK. We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year. We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. Our “Pursue Work” helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.
Historical Information
Medaille Trust was started by a member of the congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph of Annecy in 2006 with the support of Catholic Religious Congregations across the country. Sr. Ann Teresa’s vision and that of the Catholic Religious congregations remain key to our identity. Our work continues to be guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching: human dignity, solidarity, preferential option for poor and vulnerable people, and the dignity of work.
Medaille Trust's mission is to provide refuge & freedom from modern slavery. One of UK's leading providers of support for survivors of modern slavery.
