As one of our Grants & Services Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that grant applications are processed efficiently and applicants are dealt with holistically, compassionately and professionally.
As we help record numbers of people, the successfully appointed Grants & Services Officer will be required to:
Deal with applicant enquiries
- Ensure a pleasant, helpful and empathetic welcome to applicants who contact the Charity by email, web form, written application or telephone.
- Provide guidance to applicants in relation to the Charity’s grants criteria, services and process, ensuring they understand how to apply and that their request fits within our criteria.
- Identify any potential safeguarding concerns at an early stage, escalating appropriately
Process applications and referrals to services in a timely manner
- Verify that applicants are eligible beneficiaries and meet the Charity’s criteria.
- Prioritise any applications with particularly urgent requests
- Check that each application is complete and follow up with applicants, as required, to ensure all information and supporting documents have been submitted.
Provide guidance and information to applicants
- Provide clear guidance to applicants throughout the application process and respond to their queries quickly
- Inform applicants of other potential sources of help and support
Recommend appropriate grant decisions
- Prepare objective, non-judgemental reports for each case, with appropriate, clear recommendations in line with the Charity's grants criteria.

The Role
An experienced and highly organised Personal Assistant is sought to provide proactive support to three members of the senior Leadership Team. The Candidate

You will be confident using Microsoft Office, diary and inbox management tools, and supporting hybrid meetings via platforms such as Zoom or Teams. Experience in the non-profit or charity sector, and familiarity with tools like Salesforce or Cascade, would be advantageous but not essential.

About the role
The Senior Programme Advisor (SPA) in the Asia team will focussing on the delivery of a large 3-year corporate partnership started in June 2024 working on freshwater issues in Asia (with focus in India, China, Pakistan) and looking at palm oil production in Indonesia. The programme also has strong advocacy and learning components, and it is testing new innovative approaches such as insetting.
The SPA will coordinate and, when possible, lead on all programmatic input - including technical, financial, M&E - as well as overseeing the coordination and facilitation of other partnership delivery needs including advocacy and communications, science, learning and knowledge sharing. Working as part of an Asia Regional Unit, in direct collaboration with the Senior Relationship Manager in the Corporate Partnerships team, the SPA role is responsible for:
· Overall coordination of the partnership components (on the ground conservation in 5 geographies, advocacy and communications, research, learning and knowledge exchange), ensuring coherence and collective contribution to the overarching Theory of Change.
· Providing strategic programmatic leadership, oversight, support and advice on the conservation work, with a stronger focus on the work in India and Indonesia
· Identifying additional areas for programmatic development based on an understanding on the corporate partnerships ambition
· Liaising directly with Senior Relationship Manager in Corporate Partnerships team to represent the programmatic needs in the partnership and ensure consistent alignment between Conservation Programmes and Corporate Partnerships for effective partnership delivery.
· Convening and facilitating stakeholder engagement for effective partnership delivery, specifically on the programmatic side, including network partner officesin Asia, colleagues across WWF-UK, the wider WWF Network and where appropriate external organisations
· Coordinating with the wider WWF Network to ensure support to delivery of relevant network ambitions, in combination with WWF-UK’s ambitions and ensuring mutual benefits through the partnership.
· Overarching programme management of the international grants within the partnership portfolio.
On the ground conservation programmes are implemented by teams within network partner offices, the emphasis of this UK-based role will be on ensuring that all programmes are well designed, quality assured, contribute to the overarching partnership theory of change, and risks are managed appropriately, as well as providing strategic advice directly and by convening others to address identified resource and capacity gaps and playing the role of critical friend that can bring insights from across the partnership portfolio to strengthen delivery in each geographic region and the partnership coherence as a whole.

Candidates should have a progressive and well-informed approach to place-based and grassroots music-making and project creation, and a strong understanding of the latest developments in the music education landscape.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:

Undertake research and mapping as required to ensure that projects and programmes respond to local and regional needs and is distinctive and complementary in the context of other providers.

Keep abreast of educational policy and practice at national and regional governmental level, ensuring that project development is aligned with current thinking and strategy.

Develop new bespoke and innovative education and community projects in strategic partnership with local and national bodies, allied to the core work of the Orchestra.
Leadership and Management:

Provide creative leadership and direction for the Learning and Engagement Department, reflecting and clearly articulating the Philharmonia’s vision, mission and values

Develop and motivate the members of the Learning and Engagement Team, and as required, manage the Learning & Engagement team’s support staff, such as freelance Project Managers, animateurs and musicians

Sustain and strengthen existing partnerships for funding and delivery with key stakeholders including other NPOs, Local Authorities, Music Education Hubs, community groups, arts organisations and venues, private and public development agencies and schools, colleges and universities.

Represent the Orchestra on the Strategic Boards of appropriate bodies in London and residencies (for example, music hubs)

The primary purpose of the job is to engage and motivate supporters, raise awareness of dementia and dementia research, and promote Alzheimer’s Research UK's campaigns, fundraising efforts, health information, and research initiatives.
This is an important role, helping to drive Alzheimer's Research UK’s online presence, engagement, and impact, while staying at the forefront of digital trends and technologies. The role is an exciting and fast-moving one, ideally suited to someone skilled in content creation, strategy, relationship building, analytics and innovation, to effectively communicate the charity’s mission and engage supporters.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Social Media Content Strategy Execution
· Support on the development and execution of a comprehensive social media content strategy, aligned with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s mission and goals.
Content planning and Scheduling
· Working alongside the rest of the social media team to plan content within our management platform ‘Sprout Social’ and ensure we are maximising opportunities across our socials such as Meta, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
· Identify optimal posting times and frequency to maximise audience engagement and reach.
· Work with the in-house video and design experts to produce eye-catching and compelling new assets which engage audiences with our brand message, raise awareness of dementia and dementia research and increase our reach and followers.
· Work with our senior social media officer to plan and deliver impactful video content across channels. Identifying opportunities to optimise long and short form video for the channels.
· Identify and encourage the use of sharable third-party and user generated content which aligns with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s brand messaging to support creative campaigns and initiatives.
Audience engagement and Relationship Building
· Monitor interactions across Alzheimer’s Research UK’s socials, proactively engaging with supporters to ensure they receive a positive experience.
· Act as a brand ambassador, maintaining high level of attention to detail to the brand voice in all social interactions.
· Be a confident and proficient communicator, able to adopt an appropriate tone of voice for each of our different audience types (including the communication of complex or sensitive issues. Able to communicate sensitively on several issues in a timely manner.
Reporting and Trend Analysis
· Produce insight driven and eye-catching regular reports on content for teams across the charity, to communicate key successes and areas for development, using your expertise and knowledge about the platforms.
· Proactively research, learn and suggest ways to improve our ways of working and efficiency by utilising emerging digital trends, such as artificial intelligence.
Internal Engagement and Collaboration
· Support teams across the charity with their social content, identifying opportunities to share our research, health information, fundraising and other campaign activities; as well as advising on best practice.
· Work with the Social Media Manager to enhance the Employee Advocacy Approach, fostering engagement and participation among staff in sharing social content.
Learning and Development
· Stay informed about the latest advancement in digital marketing, social media, tools and technology. Actively seek opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge through the charities learning and development programme as well as external learning opportunities.
Compliance and Brand Standards
· Ensure all activities comply with our brand and data guidelines and meet the high professional standards of Alzheimer’s Research UK and represents the values of the organisation to the fullest
What we are looking for:
· Experience of working across social media channels for a medium-large size organisation.
· Experience of using a Social Media Management tool such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Falcon.

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

In this dynamic role, no two days are the same. You may be supporting individuals in distress over the phone, managing email and voicemail communications, collaborating with volunteers on complex casework, building strong relationships with local authorities and charitable organisations, or working closely with internal services to secure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support them. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensuring that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service.
Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the East of England region in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, or Essex.
You will occasionally be required to travel around the region or further afield, to attend face to face meetings or training events.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. You will initially be required to attend an in-person caseworkers’ course which may require an overnight stay.
About the team
Reporting to the Regional Casework Manager our Casework Coordinators, together with our Volunteer Caseworkers, work remotely within the regional office area. With beneficiaries at the heart of everything we do, team members pride themselves in building and maintaining close working relationships to ensure the smooth operation of the office. The wider regional support team includes a Regional Manager, Volunteer Development Manager and a Community Engagement Manager.
