To establish and develop key employer relationships to source and promote suitable, quality vacancies and vocational opportunities for all Service Leavers (Sl), (including CTP Assist and Early Service Leavers), Veterans, Reservists and Spouses across the Forces Employment Charity (FEC).

The Key Account Manager (KAM) will take an Apprenticeship-to-Executive approach to employer engagement by initiating, developing, and managing relationships with employers and employer organisations across allocated Sectors to source a range of employment opportunities, including full & part-time appointments, work experience opportunities and portfolio work.

Job Purpose

The role of the central charity is to facilitate member support and the successful operation of the charity, lead strategic projects that work to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the global movement and to support the delivery of impactful work in communities that meet our aims.

Like many membership organisations, we need to focus on turning membership decline into membership growth. This role evolved from and is an integral part of the “Reimagining MU” project, where we looked at opportunities to secure the future of the movement.

The post holder will work directly with members and across the charity leading campaigns and programmes that help and support the communities in which we serve, drive membership growth, increase valued engagement and income opportunities, promote Mothers’ Union within the Anglican Church, and build effective relationships with external partners and organisations.

This role will lead the implementation of a suite of existing and new Britain and Ireland programmes which include domestic abuse, social justice, and family issues. Also, to look at new programmes and to manage continual programme reviews. These Mothers’ Union National Programmes are being adopted as best practice frameworks for successful community outreach projects by members in the communities in which we serve. It is envisioned that in resourcing and standardising existing work, these robust programmes will serve as vehicles for volunteer and member recruitment in dioceses in Britain and Ireland and be able to secure strategic partners and external funders to support our work.

Main responsibilities

Programme Development, Implementation and Review – Britain and Ireland

1. Work with the Director of Membership on the continued development, implementation and review of a member-informed national suite of Mothers’ Union programmes.

2. Research, review and develop new member resources, packs, and policies and manage access.

3. Work with the wider Membership team on the design, implementation, and delivery of new membership growth models.

4. Work with the Communications team on campaigns and programme branding and promotion.

5. Procure and manage relationships with programme strategic partners and funders.

Membership Engagement and Support

1. Manage relevant Communities of Interest (representative membership groups) for the different programmes.

2. Contribute campaign materials, articles, written printed and web content as required.

3. Support the membership by overseeing programme enquiries, and delivering resources, communications, webinars, podcasts, and events as required.

4. Working with the Membership Engagement Manager to ensure membership growth is reflected in the programme frameworks as an intended outcome.

5. Working with the Director of Membership and the wider membership team to deliver annual and regional events and conferences including the Annual Gathering, Provincial meetings, networking, and celebratory events.

General 

1. To manage existing national programmes; and to successfully framework and resource new MU campaigns and community outreach work into standardised, resourced and branded national programmes that are adopted and utilised by members and attract strategic partners to enhance successful outputs and increased income for the charity.
2. To work across the charity on supporting the incorporation and delivery of membership and income growth targets and initiatives in the outputs of relevant areas of work.
3. To produce and provide reports and resources as required for the Director of Membership.
4. To undertake any other duties as requested by the Head of Membership.

This role is essential in our drive for evidencing the impact of the work we do. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

As Clerk to the Board of Governors

Provide procedural, regulatory, and governance advice to the Board of Governors. Responsibilities include:

• provide administrative support to the governing body, for example: co-ordinating calendar of dates for governing body meetings and preparing agendas, taking notes at meetings for the preparation of minutes and ensuring that all decisions are recorded accurately and objectively, including timescales for actions

• Support the implementation and effective use of New Governance Software and lead the shift to using Generative AI for note taking at meetings. Update and maintain a database of Governance information, ensuring secure handling of confidential data and information in compliance with College Policy and the General Data Protection Regulations.

• support the development and performance of governors in their role, for example: updating them on changes in legislation and policy, informing them of appropriate training and helping them understand their duties

• offer advice to governors and the college on the correct governance procedures and how to improve governance

• Work with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure a high level of governor engagement by ensuring an up-to-date calendar of opportunities, appropriate communications and effective tracking and gathering of feedback

As Governance and Performance Manager

• Support the College’s internal governance function, providing administrative support in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and taking notes/minutes. Lead the shift to using Generative AI for note taking at meetings and in systems and Processes to improve efficiency.

• Work with the Executive Leadership Team and wider leadership team to co-ordinate regular strategy updates and report on progress against strategic goals and agreed KPIs.

• Input into, and support with the co-ordination of the College’s Wider Leadership Forum and All-Staff sessions.

• Update and Maintain the College’s Risk Register and Master Policy Schedule.

• Assist with co-ordinating internal audit reviews in accordance with approved internal audit plan.

Our Services Delivery team are responsible for: virtual support hub, community support teams, service comms and engagement

Our Director of Services Delivery will be:

• providing strategic direction and leadership to our Service Delivery function, spanning services such as a helpline, digital and remote, and community engagement
• taking overall responsibility for and providing thought-leadership to our strategic approach for all national and community service delivery, as well as our engagement and comms across our Services and Support
• ensuring our Services and Support are delivered to a consistently high standard and be accountable for the performance of our services in our Live Well activity.
• using evidence and insights, development and delivery of a UK-wide Service Delivery and Development strategy that ensures our services achieve maximum reach and impact, responding to the evolving needs and priorities of people with MS, and their families and carers.
• leading ongoing development and continuous improvement of MS Society’s service delivery operating model, responding to evolving needs and external environment to drive cultural change and inspiring staff and volunteers.
• leading by example, encouraging and role modelling transparency, learning from failure, reducing complexity, user centricity, collaborating, and seeking feedback and ideas from all

As a fixed term contracted role for 12 months, our Director of Services Development will be focusing on:

• embedding our new Services Development team.
• working with our Income Generation colleagues to establish processes and accountabilities for a business development pipeline.
• ensuring everything we do is led by the voice of the MS community and processes are established and embedded for the MS Society to meet our coproduction commitments.
